Horse 35 Spring Winds, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 35 Spring Winds 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. sold Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  The green of spring took over this canvas with deliciously thick layers of oil. I could have added more blooming colors, but felt a balance as I worked on this. Notice the small field of blue at the foot of the middle horse in this horse painting.  There is a tiny bit of teal in the sky and some outlines of blue on the horses but the off center placement at the foot of the painting really creates balance. What does it take in your life to create balance? Where do you go in your mind for calm or quiet? What is your vision if you were to meditate and slowly began to breathe in and out?   It is so easy during the day to get 'unbalanced'.  We are pulled so many directions we often stay unbalanced. The peace we need is right there. It may be a small 'spot of blue' in the picture of our

Two Pair is Four, Pear Painting on Panel, Oil by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Two Pair is Four 8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas Panel Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Humm.. had so many colors spinning through my head the little pears look more like my Palette than a pear! Seriously, this was intense piling of paint and extremely FUN!  This will brighten any kitchen. Slip this little 8 x 10 oil pear painting into a frame and ENJOY! Having fun? I am!  Relaxing week of trying to get a hold on life by letting go of life...and letting God take hold.   Terry and I fretted over our Red Oak in the back yard. We were worried as the peak a boo pipe placed at the root ball was full of water...and that is not desirable. The tree man came out to double check the tree and said it was really doing well.  He said the leaves were still very flexible and sometime in the next month they will be firm. That is why we have lost so many ripping off the tree in the 35-40 mph wind

Horse 34 Catching Up, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 34 Catching Up 10 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I was really hesitant when I approached this canvas. It is not small but borders on medium sizing and not one I normally paint. This is NOT a panel canvas, this is a stretched canvas, so the pricing is higher on this piece because of that. You could hang this one without a frame. The colors patterned out pretty strong with my knife, not much pink but a flash here and there. It is a bold contrast between warm and cool colors; at the same time a bold race in this horse painting of three mares racing in the spring winds.  I think I love it.  The winds have not let up here at home. The garden is thriving despite the constant breeze of 25 mph out of the south. Terry is working on the rose beds right now and the roses are blooming in every direction. We have a Mr Lincoln, Mr Kennedy, Don Juan, ... we h

Spring Roses by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Rose Painting

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Spring Roses 12 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas Panel Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Back in about 2006 or 2007 I painted these roses and really enjoyed the knife work on them. Looking through old files prompted me to do a smaller repaint using the same palette. I have been doing so many horses lately I need to climb out of the stable and reach out again. This is a bright sunny rose painting filled with layering and texture. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8 #horsepainting  #lauriepac

The Painted Ponies Gathering Three at Sunrise 2014 by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Contemporary Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Painted Ponies Gathering Three at Sunrise  36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Okay so this popped out over the week... had paints left on the surface of my palettes and I never like to waste the paint. I have not done many of my painted pony pulls (aka Horse Paintings aka contemporary horse Paintings) in quite a few years, so I am enjoying the fresh summer colors and the patterns that weave across the surface. Working with the palette knife always cutting the paint differently leaves room for surprise. I call this the unplanned painting that just appears.   Do you realize how often that happens each day? The unplanned... it is something you can count on all the time.  Staying flexible is the hardest thing for all of us, me included. The best part of being an artist is the discovery that comes with the creativity.  I must say I handle it better i

There are actually four more but I stopped at three not wanting to overcrowd the idea.  I really want to head an experimental direction over the next few weeks and in between I have to continue with my large horses for my galleries.  Till the next painting... enjoy your spring. The Color... movement on canvas.. Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014         The Color   sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I did not rotate the canvas on this painting. I did decide to compose the colors to use in one way and not worry about the balance of rotating.  The center seems to be like a flower and the bottom quarter like stems... the top quarter simple and unobtrusive.  At this point I shot images of it and took it into photoshop.  I tweaked a few things on the original canvas for balance but I spent some time looking for horses as that is the 'expected' from me.  With a possible show in El Paso coming up and the need for new pieces at galleries, I have to go the horse direction even though my head saw several other things blooming in this paint.  The horses were easy to spot... can you see them? If not, stop by tomorrow and discover where I found them. Whoever claims to live in him mus

The Spirit of the Paint... the creativity of the painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014       The Spirit of the Paint... sold        36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Sold Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Well, it was time... time for the oils.  It was time for color to mesh with color and cross with more color and create movement. It was time to play in the color. Time to choose favorite colors and try a few new colors.  There was no longer a preconceived plan to paint that horse. The spirit this day was the color and the emotions from inside of me celebrating life and the joy of being an artist.  More awakenings occurred but not with this painting. Ideas for playing again will happen soon. I do not want to become stagnant. Try something new today.  Laugh.  Smile at someone and see if they smile back. Be playful. Be Creative. Be ALIVE. "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and

The Foundational Wash... Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Paintings

SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I have always prepped with acrylics on my canvas. I felt like wiping and dripping as I worked just playing in the water.  Dreaming it might rain again soon here for our garden.   As I mentioned I had listened to the interview with Dan McCaw...but I was past this stage when I started it... so I was grinning at the joy I had experienced already and being inspired by the words I heard, I cannot wait to share tomorrow with you... so come back to see more. Nothing feels better than a hot shower in the winter or a cool shower in the summer. I know our garden feels this way as I sometimes catch the marigolds beginning to droop. Time to call Lady L over to water the garden. That is her 'job' and she loves it.    With this canvas I felt the need to scrub and wash and spray and coat with
