The startling effect of the Indian Gold on the neck near the mane creates a path for the eye to feel the gentle neck of the horse.  Strength in the face and eyes on this equine, hence the name, Gaze of Strength. Finally the trees are budding out with green leaves.  It is officially spring by the calendar. I noted on the weather news last night the record high for a date last week was 100 degrees. ??? (this is March?)  We were at a high that day of 54 and a low that night around freezing. It happened in 1916. Ninety-eight years ago.  I actually remember in 2007, seven years ago, we had the wettest spring and summer I had seen in my life time. We never topped 99 degrees and it rained constantly. I long

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is a busy week with family obligations and happenings. I painted some over the weekend and will have paintings maybe every other day to share.  I continue to work on some big pieces for my galleries but intend to continue painting this small precious ones for my website. I filled two palettes with colors... warm colors on one and cool colors on the other and I began to work. It was so much easier with the colors laid out before me and not reaching for tubes every time I wanted a new color. It was easy. It was fun. Paddy remains with fuzzy hairy ears and his look of big head dog. Not sure when we will have time to finish him but at least he is manageable on his body right now. Terry got a haircut last week too, so that leaves me to be next, just not sure when.  I definitely do not need big hai

This one was playing with acrylics and literally piling them thickly on the surface. I have a huge 40 x 60 inch canvas on my main easel so I feel sort of overwhelmed while I am working. Very distracted. Sometimes I feel my life is over piled with things and they are not as colorful as these paints. Setting yourself free is possible but you have to be willing to let go. Are you ready to? Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  It has Lady L signature Pink Purple in it!  It started with an acrylic base and then the layering of the oils with my palette knife. I love the tiny woven in bits or orange. I make it with Quinacridone Scarlet and Cad Yellow Light. It is a yummy color for me. I am doing different sizes with some of the paintings... some are larger and some are the 8 x 8 gems. I love those the most. I hope you are enjoying the explosion of color from my studio. I felt pretty strong putting this color throughout the composition. It has an acrylic layer for sealing below the heavy oil layering. You can see some really good close up pictures at the link above for available paintings.  Lady L made sure it had some pink purple in it as well as she watched over the process.  Lady L is my five year old granddaughter. She is back painting with me after the past year. I cannot wait to see what she turns out now.  Think about how many people you influence in one day by your actions and your words.  Keep life in a positive direction and give to others when you can. I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—  that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.  Roma

Other Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  It is time to think about spring painting for new pieces for different galleries. This particular piece will travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to be at the Rare Gallery.  They have represented my work since 2007.  They requested a painted pony pull (above) a large wolf and maybe a second painted pony pull and a buffalo painting.  I chose this quiet color palette of blues, purples and violets to be in contrast of my normally wild colors that seem to cover the spectrum. When Stacey, my daughter, said it was a thumbs up, I knew it was good as gold! So I sent the image up the Rare and they loved it. Meanwhile on the home front... Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Wild Wind # 17 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.SOLD  (oops - super tired when I posted - this is the correct size) Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  These are my favorite colors.. maybe a little heavy on the greens but I love violets and blues.  This is the thickest paint on all three I just finished and it felt so 'delicious' like icing on a cake.  If this one does not sell it will hang by my computer upstairs.  I love the action and the incredible emotion in this small horse painting. Emotion comes in all sizes... the disappointments, the joy, the laughter, the love... all of it. We are each individuals that display emotions differently, some displays stronger than others, and some often overlooked by our ability to hide our emotions behind our walls. Not sure where I am going with this as being a woman and an artist, I am an emotional maze in constant change.  This I would not

SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Wild colors are the result of having Lady L in the studio while I am working. She had a hankering for yellow and hence I have a horse painting with lots of yellows. Yellow is not really a color I use often so this is a rare painting by that definition alone. This day is a busy day for family and that is something that we cherish in life, our family. Growing together, sharing together, learning together and living together.  Terry and I are so happy to be back close to our family and really enjoy our grandchildren and our children more each passing week. Lady L is over daily for home school, but now she will be painting again in the studio with me. Watch for some of her work soon on my blog. But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks

SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I was painting with Lady L in the studio as I began this one. The surface paint again in acrylic and then about 10 over layers of oil before the horse is started. With the horse there are at least five more layers of paint. These take a two to three hours each to do and right now I am promising to do them at $100 each... but I am thinking about doing a few a bit larger for $145 each as well.   Email me your thoughts on this.  I was thinking 12 x 12. If I push any larger than that the prices have to jump as that is then in the sizes I do for my galleries and it costs much more to ship them. White Horse appears next to a waterfall of purple and blues and white... sliding into the green landscape below.  The contrast of orange with the blue and the red with the green. Makes it all lush.
