© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Mid Summer Nights Gathering Good People Series #2 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.  SHHH..Do not tell, but I am done.  It may take two years for this painting to cure out. It has to head to Mirada Fine Art in about three or four weeks... meanwhile it will be banished to the room with the dehumidifier in it.  Stay tuned at Mirada Fine Art with Steve Sonnen for more details about what is happening to this "crowd" from my Good People Series.  In fact, drop Steve an email and ask to be added to the mailing list for this special gathering.  Good food, good friends and good art.   What more could you want? Email Steve here.   Tell him to put you on the list for  the Special June Showing. Summer Winds Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Summer Winds 40 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas.  Summer Winds was quite a progressive Horse Painting. I began by rotating my canvas on the easel a quarter turn at a time and working the entire canvas with layers of paint. After I covered the entire surface I immediately knew what I saw in the painting. These are not normal palette colors for me, but I was pulled strongly to thinking of summer winds and how when they are strong they feel like they could blow right through you. They become a part of who you are. Same in the painting... the summer winds are not cold, but they move through each horse in the herd with the layers of paint weaving it all together.   This piece is at MIrada Fine Art in Denver. Progress on the Sail Boat Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

You can even see the thick layers of white creating the edgy waves. This sail boat painting is coming together. Sail Boat Painting continued by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Mid Sunset Sail 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas.  The piling and pulling of paint continues as the background is worked in and over laid with different values. This sail boat painting keeps everything basic in structure and line plays a strong point in the composition. Sunset Journey Sail Boat Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Sunset Journey 24 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas.  I began one of my commissions this week that is a sailboat. With the extra heavy layering of paints it almost becomes totally abstract with pure elements making up the composition of the sailboat painting.  The client is captain of her own boat up on the east coast and this is for her home to remind her of the beauty at sea. Another Horse was Found in Racing the Morning! Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Another Horse Appeared.... Read and see more below. He was found coming up along side.   © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace                                                 Graphics One Design 2013 Racing the Morning  28 x 42 inches Oil on Canvas.  I could not even sleep on this one. Something was missing but I could not place the hesitation that plagued me.   The camera was still not functioning and I spent four hours yesterday taking shots in various settings and finally in my non camera brain went to the internet to try and grasp what was happening.  Something called the ISO number was causing the grainy texture on every picture and it was driving me nuts.  I began to reset things and adjusted them. The suggested setting was 100 on the internet but I ended up at 800 I believe.  It was too slow at 100.  I shoot without a flash  to capture the paintings.  While I am working I take progress shots and then take them into photoshop to look at the paint

Continued Painting on Early Morning Race Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Golden Pond Studio

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Continued Painting on Early Morning Race 28 x 42  inches Oil on Canvas.  I am making progress but not there yet. There is a strong intensity of colors building into something on the canvas but I have not arrived yet. Still am struggling with the Canon 7D. Seems like my limited knowledge of its power was messed with in the move. I cannot get clean clear images.  Will have to make a trip to the camera store or find someone nearby to help sort it out. I am hoping this painting will finish out and be one of the first at   The South Hill Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky . Music today was country... Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum. Continued Painting on Early Morning Race Horse Paintings from Texas Palette Knife Artist Laurie Pace, Golden Pond Studio

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Continued Painting on Early Morning Race 28 x 42 inches Oil on Canvas.  There will be some strong changes tomorrow. I have basically worked out the composition but the paint approach is too simplistic. Life is more complicated and created with layers of experience. Such will this painting.... layers of development and I will share each part of what seems to be a paintful journey! Thursday... it is almost the weekend. Still not unpacked. I may have to take two days off to finish doing that.  I am beginning sketches for another stretch of small paintings for the future that will be offered only on the blog. This are paintings that evolve into large paintings. While the sketches are good, I get too tight and involved and life just does not happen like that.  Time to break free and trust again in the spirit of the paint. Texas Artist Laurie Pace Golden Pond Studio Music today was more Norah Jo

Continued Painting on Early Morning Race Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Golden Pond Studio

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Continued Painting on Early Morning Race 28 x 42 inches Oil on Canvas.  Pushing further into development today, I did get to spend as much time painting as I wanted to.  I am still trying to find my way with the spirit of each horse in the composition.  I have not decided if they are at a racetrack or where they are. The area that is structured on the right, blues and reds, almost look like the stands. Music in the studio today was Norah Jones... a favorite to paint by when I am trying to figure things out. May your Wednesday be filled with His peace.
