Summer Rains Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Summer Rains 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Quiet colors, a bit off the beaten path for this artist, but really nice for a change. The muted violets and the soft yellow greens bring intrigue into the painting...and for some dissonance a bit of orange. We all have that in our lives you know... that dissonance... the part of us that flares out different from the core of who we are. Mine is the color red that 'flares' up in my life occasionally in clothes and now in the color of my car.  It is like the 'rebel' in me I guess. Red was my Dad's favorite color and when he was in his last year of life I bought my car, my red car, and it's name is Gerald after my dad.  My kids are laughing if they are reading this.  My youngest told me at breakfast last Sunday that before I died he wanted a written confession of all the bad things I

Whirlwind Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Right now it is in the 'Hanging out" mode while I study it over a week. Changes can always happen. The most important change is being back in the studio painting.   When we are faced with problems and tough issues, we must believe that God has his way in place and we must trust. Believe me as I feel like this has lasted a very long time, since the second week of December in fact.   I sort of missed out on Christmas and New Years. But for whatever reason, I am home and not out and about among people right now.  I am going to take this week to slowly gain back strength and paint again.  Terry has been awesome keeping up with all the house keeping and the cooking.  In fact he is down there right now cooking as I am blogging.

White Runner Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 White Runner  16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.   A painting I did in August that is available.  Brilliant colors and a more impressionistic representational horse in this painting. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  1  John 1:5   Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   My Blog          My Website          Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards    GALLERY LINKS Mirada Fine Art Denver CO ,   The Rare Gallery Jackson Hole WY   The White Dog Gallery Carbondale, CO. Art Lesson on line and color by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Art Lesson using Line and Color    This week I want to work on an exercise to loosen your thoughts and inspire your creativity.  Painting is ahead but I want some foundation and work done before doing a lot of painting. You need to be using all the elements and having full grasp of different mediums at the same time. If I gave you the math problem of 8 + 3 = N, you know how to solve for N.  But how many ways can you get there?  That is limited. If I give you the art problem of Line + Color = N , N is limitless. You can do this with Paint, you can do this with crayons, you can do this with markers, you can do this with craypas or watercolors or anything. You can even collage using lines and color. There is no given subject, no given rules or guidelines.  Here is a painting I did in 2008.  Gives you an idea  to loosen you up with thoughts and plan a composition of maybe a vase with flowers...or a cityscape with the buildings in black and white and the sky in co

Four Black Horses Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace 2013 Four Black Horses by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 Oil Painted a few years ago in 2010, I found some opera music written about four black horses. I had done this contemporary horse painting in celebration of that opera. They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor.  Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar.  They fly like an eagle swooping to devour; they all come intent on violence. Their hordes advance like a desert wind and gather prisoners like sand. Horse Paintings White Stallion Running by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Slowly coming to....  16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.   I began working on the head of the horse first and coming down the neck in this equine painting.  I was not sure about the background colors, but decided to play them up rather than take them out. Normally I would be taking them out... I can feel the strength in the composition and for the third time painting in the past week, feel a strength in myself that has not been there in awhile.   “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,     neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.  “As the heavens are higher than the earth,     so are my ways higher than your ways     and my thoughts than your thoughts. Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 No ideas...  24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas.  clueless...  Some days you are totally baffled by happenings and often overcome trying to control things. I am definitely in the way of this painting.  I will see this through but probably will do a repaint of the sketch as this was not the direction of intent. Do you often go off intent on going a certain place and find yourself sidetracked? Then you know where I am right now. Crossing the Meadow Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Crossing the Meadow  16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Commissioned Painting  I arrived at the smile I wait for and that feeling of energy and completeness.  Incredible knife work with very thick strokes of color complete this dynamic contemporary horse painting heading for the United Kingdom when it is dry. That may be a month as thick as this paint is.  To the drying room it will go. A new week is already begun and I have sketches in mind as I begin  to work in the studio this week.   I read something recently that struck home for me as the parent  of adult children with children and some without. As a parent you want and wish for the best for your children. I have to stop myself from over doing and still trying to 'fix' things.   Neale Donald Walsch sent this out in his message last week. On this day of your life,  I believe God wants you to know... ...that you c

Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace and July Issue of Visual Language Magazine 2013

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Crossing the Meadow in Progress  16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Commission  This horse painting is for a new collector in the UK.  We have corresponded and I am ready to begin. She found a painting she liked that was 5 x 7 and completed in 2007, so we are using the same color palette and the spirit from that painting for her new Contemporary Horse Painting. Summer is upon us here in Texas.  I have been busy with the last issue of Visual Language Magazine. If you have never seen it, you are missing out on fabulous art and studio visits with leading artists from around the world. This month features a studio visit with Morgan Weistling and his wife JoAnn Peralta as well as one with American portrait artist David Darrow . Here is the July issue of Visual Language. ENJOY! Weathering the Storm in Progress by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Abstract Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Weathering the Storm  30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. In Progress  This is about 8 hours in and still not sure of direction but I am loving the palette colors chosen for this horse painting. I began with the orange paint, then the soft turquoise, then the blues... after that came quinacridone golds, purples, lavender and brown pink. The personality is beginning to develop.   Laurie Pace A Texas Artist Golden Pond Studio My Blog          My Website          Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards          CFAI.co      GALLERY LINKS Mirada Fine Art Denver CO ,   The Rare Gallery Jackson Hole WY   The White Dog Gallery Carbondale, CO.
