George R. R. Martin, A Game of Thrones. This is a flashback of a painting that I am thinking possibly 2005 maybe? She sold quickly to a couple from New York.  There are a few paintings that leave a memory of the actual painting and this is one of them.   "You shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying it, all that is in it and its livestock - with the edge of the sword. Will Rogers The "Sue" Club.  My middle name is Sue. I do not meet many "Sue"s at all.  My daughter in law's mom is  "Sue" ... and until I met "Sue" from Canada on the internet... that is about it for me.  So all the 'Sue' women I meet, I grow to love dearly.  Sue has commissioned a painting years back and her dear hubby has had me paint a few small ones.  The gift away this month is to Sue... and this gorgeous painting is the

Edward Abbey Seeing the progress shots on this painting is pretty amazing.   Stop and think about what you were like as a one year old.  Then think about age 10, age 20, age 40, and up.  Everything you have experienced is a layer placed in your life no different than this painting.  I will be getting this piece back from a Gallery in Park City Utah.  I want it placed in a home with lots of love.  Contact me if you are interested in this piece

He not only gives his love, his grace, his light, his comfort, his presence... but he gives us HOPE. Psalm 119:116 "Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed."    #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equi

You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You'll Go! Are you walking in the right direction? Are you confused or lost? Do you wake up on Monday and dread the week ahead? Are you sitting there on Sunday feeling empty?  Time to find your map and your direction. How do you do that?  Grab a pen and a piece of paper and write down what your dream life would look l

Are you Awake or Dreaming? Contemporary Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” ― C.G. Jung This is one of those quotes you need over your bathroom mirror when you get up each morning. It is too easy to look outside of ourselves and busy ourselves with 'things' and avoid facing reality. Living to grasp life at its fullest is rare these days. Too much time distracted by computers, phones and ipads. No longer do we consider face to face conversations valuable, or handwriting a letter. Even in our schools the

One Cannot Exist Without the Other Painting Progress by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

One cannot exist without the other.” ― Victoria Aveyard, Red Queen So with the theme of the show being the Calm after the Storm, it pulled me into you cannot have the calm if you don't have the storm.  It is that Yin Yang thing.  Love/hate; tears/laughter; sad/happy; day/night.  I think you get my point.  So in the painting I am thinking of contrasting things. Each horse had to have something that makes them apart and unique from the others. What is a painting without contrast?  Pretty dull.  Meet the Red horse just breaking from the storm.  Life/death.

Sunlight on the Water . . . Progressive Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

I thought perhaps I would do a muted piece but for some reason my soul struggles to put out the color. It is like putting out the light. It is like forcing my nature to do something that does not feel comfortable.  So I am not sure where this will go this week but will take you along with me.   After the soft layer was applied a week ago, I came into the studio and using caramel brown, sketch
