Spring Roses Heavy Palette Knife Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, God's Palette of colors

Spring Roses 30 x 40 inches   Oil on Canvas    Sold to a collector in Connecticut. Thank you.    Contact me for your own painting. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2011  His Palette of Colors varies in each of our lives. No two of us are created exactly the same.  I think we spend so much time finding fault in others that we miss the beauty in their palette. When God created each of us, He carefully chose how He 'knitted' together our pieces and what colors were in our individual palettes. Terry found the Tink in her room this morning trying to choose her colors in her palette, but it was a dry attempt with no water.  Watercolors do not work dry. I compromised  and gave up cleaning the house for the big party tomorrow and sat down at the table to paint with her. I always carry my watercolors with me. She was delighted and for the next hour she plied her paper with lots of purple and pinks.  She is both a cool palette and a warm palette.  Sh

'Flower Sprays' Flower Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Flower Sprays' 18 x 27 inches Oil/Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Another piece from the workshop tape I have been watching. Using negative space to carve out positive pieces....fun to work with color and thick oil paint. The Thought: Not any painting right now as I am busy with school registration and unpacking and settling in. Terry continues the work on the bathroom...slow but sure...very steady and with out complaint. The best part of our vacation is the sleep. I have found I can actually sleep more than five hours in a row. We slept in yesterday morning until 8:30 am. ANYONE that knows me knows I am a five a.m. riser. I told Terry I could get use to the 8-9 hours a night of sleep. God intends for us to be rested. I am the world's worst of always working, getting things done and forgetting about myself and my body's needs. When I do this I am not respecting my body and its

'Hydrangea in Blues' Flower Art Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Hydrangea in Blues' 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Canvas SOLD from the Blog! Thank you so much. Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: I had originally blocked this in acrylic and it was slated for oils. The humidity has been so bad here that I have had to paint more with Acrylics. The main focus was composition again and the blues and purples sweeping you through the painting. I miss not being in NY right now. The hydrangeas are gorgeous up there this time of year. The Thought : We are still "on Vacation' as Terry worked 18 straight hours yesterday with out food. I think spending his first day of vacation doing that did not set well. I was worried that he definitely over did and told him today he had to eat through out the day and take short breaks. I will be monitoring that. I did take pictures, but at least I am way behind with ads that are due for magazines that I need to finish up quickly today. Ti

If it looks small, click it again. © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Yes, it is a new one, and tomorrow there will be a new horse! Yesterday with a migraine painting was not easy. This has so many layers I lost count, but it is Holbein Oils on gallery wrap canvas and ready to hang. I think as an artist I would probably frame this painting, but it would hang without. The composition developed slowly with under layers of horizontal acrylics in quinacridone Orange, burnt umber and white....(yes). Then came horizontal layers applied with a brush in oils. The colors were predominately blues, greens, and a bit of rose madder. From this layer came multiple layers of color with a palette knife. The photo does not do it justice. The Thought: Yesterday I wrote about not feeling appreciated, but this morning I am in a go go go mod

So if you like the painting, click it, wait for the small image to appear and click it again. You will have to back track to read my thought for the day. The Thought: Obsession with time. That is my huge issue these days. There are often not enough minutes in the day to complete my list. Yes, I made the list, God did not. It is "Laurie-made" not God made. While Terry was on vacation this past week, we had several philosophical discu

'Iris' Abstract Flower Watercolor Painting by Laurie Pace

'Iris' 24 x 36 Watercolor on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land—a land with streams and pools of water, with springs flowing in the valley s and hill s; " Deuteronomy 8:7 The Picture : This is a watercolor on big watercolor canvas. I did it during a class demonstration on watercolor several years ago. The Thought : I was reading Christian Fiction recently and part of one of the character's flaws was the 'gift' of manic depression. The Lord often has a serious sense of humor on these gifts. But truly it is one if you can embrace it. In every gift or challenge there is something there for us to receive and then give back to others. The character in the book referred to the 'handling' of the mood swings by comparing it to hills and valleys. Our life journey always has hills and valleys. That is a given we can agree o

Some mornings have to start with celebration of music and praise. Today the Tink (Our granddaughter, Lauren, is coming. Actually today and tomorrow. So much for working... we will be otherwise busy. When Chris Tomlin sings, he truly is passionate...there is none like you God...none like you. This is true for us in His eyes. There is none like you in His eyes either as He created each of us in a unique way; each here on this earth to be in a great relationship with Him; each of us giving our gifts to other; each of us coming together to celebrate His greatness. When Lauren is here, Te
