Horse 45 Northern Exposure Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Northern Exposure  Size: 8 x 10 inches     Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Color and contrast are the backbone of this fast moving pair or horses... to me they looked like they were flying across snow with a brilliant morning sun. Thoughts went to Alaska for some reason, hence the name Northern Exposure. Make sure you visit my available paintings and look at the close ups on this baby. The paint is really piled high in layers. Sometimes life is that way too! The tree we planted a few weeks ago has shed most of it's leaves. The arborist says watch and maybe new ones will sprout but I am dubious on this one. This tree looks pretty done. I imagine God spend time watching to see if we 'sprout' new leaves after our trials and temptations, or if we basically give up.   However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands. As the prophet s

Horse 44 Three Mares in the Pink of Things, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 44 Three Mares in the Pink of Things 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Yeah there is 'girl' talk going on here. I debated only a few seconds on this one because I absolutely fell in love with the structure of the horses as they appeared to the paint. The motion of palette knife strokes and blends. The painting is different. The Painting is NOT the same. This piece is for a 'strong of heart' person. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God. Horse 40, Adventure by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 40 Adventure 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Every moment at the easel is an adventure. Some turn out better than others, but the best ones are the unexpected journeys where I do not try to control what is evolving on the surface. The painting that was up yesterday came out of a scraped canvas... this small energetic piece came from some of the same colors that were left on my palette.  Hence the name 'adventure'. May this day be an adventure for you.  Let Go and Let God. Was watching an episode of "Calling the Midwife" on PBS several weeks ago and in one of the scenes a man said, "My Mother taught me when something knocks at the front door, you open it up and it blows in... and then you open the back door and let it blow right on out."  That sent shivers down my legs and arms.  From that day forward, every time

Horse Painting 38 Eclipse by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse Painting 39 Eclipse 8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Sometimes I wonder where things come from when I paint. Each time I pick up a brush or a knife it is with a prayer for the spirit to work through me in the painting. I certainly did not set out to paint and eclipse. I struggled wanting to scrape this canvas but there is something strong here between the horse and the sky and the eclipse. So this horse painting stands. It will either find a home through your heart, or be gifted later this year, but the tie to it, the spirit coming from it lives. Terry has been REALLY busy in the backyard.  I need to take pictures. While Dallas had a tornado and about 12 inches of rain last week, we had a measly quarter inch...but despite that the beans are peaking out of the ground in the garden and the carrots are sprouting.  Mother's Day brought la

The Painted Ponies Gathering Three at Sunrise 2014 by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Contemporary Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Painted Ponies Gathering Three at Sunrise  36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Okay so this popped out over the week... had paints left on the surface of my palettes and I never like to waste the paint. I have not done many of my painted pony pulls (aka Horse Paintings aka contemporary horse Paintings) in quite a few years, so I am enjoying the fresh summer colors and the patterns that weave across the surface. Working with the palette knife always cutting the paint differently leaves room for surprise. I call this the unplanned painting that just appears.   Do you realize how often that happens each day? The unplanned... it is something you can count on all the time.  Staying flexible is the hardest thing for all of us, me included. The best part of being an artist is the discovery that comes with the creativity.  I must say I handle it better i

The Color... movement on canvas.. Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014         The Color   sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I did not rotate the canvas on this painting. I did decide to compose the colors to use in one way and not worry about the balance of rotating.  The center seems to be like a flower and the bottom quarter like stems... the top quarter simple and unobtrusive.  At this point I shot images of it and took it into photoshop.  I tweaked a few things on the original canvas for balance but I spent some time looking for horses as that is the 'expected' from me.  With a possible show in El Paso coming up and the need for new pieces at galleries, I have to go the horse direction even though my head saw several other things blooming in this paint.  The horses were easy to spot... can you see them? If not, stop by tomorrow and discover where I found them. Whoever claims to live in him mus

The Sketch... with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Sketch Sold 36 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  We will walk this one through this week. It was a journey of which I cannot share everything because of the energy behind the foundation, the letting go of what I wanted compared to the spirit of the paint. It is a worthy journey not yet ended as I begin with this sketch for Sunday. I was listening to an old recorded interview with Leslie Saeta, Dreama Tolle Perry and Dan McCaw . Listening to Dan McCaw's outlook on art and himself as an artist, I felt so drawn to his comparisons.  I have always shared the need to allow the spirit of each painting to surface and not control it.  Dan shares the thought that art comes from deep within each of us.  What is in must come out. It is not a matter of what you draw or plan to paint, the true spirit lies within you the entire time.   One of the last things he cov

The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  If you look at the last posting and this one you can see how beautifully the colors pulled out to create the atmosphere foundation in this new Painted Ponies Painting.  Why the Passing of Spring?  We just had Easter and a week of on and off storms and it feels like the storms are passing leaving blue skies and sunshine.  Spring in Texas means STORMY weather.  Here is a close up of this painting and it is available. You can see more close ups on the site hyperlinked above.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart This reminds me of a painting I did about three years ago  with the arrival of fall. In this painting soft strong colors creating the 'atmosphere' recalling the haze of soft falling rain and drizzle.  Life is a co

It is not working... an unwasted Day in the studio with Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Not working for me... 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  At a standstill last night and not liking where this is going. You will have to visit back tomorrow or the next day to see what happens... I just do not like things with so much control, I like accidental creations allowing the spirit of the paint to surface. This is too forced.  It is never a waste of time because the process of painting and layering things builds strength in a painting. If we could only embrace the fact that trusting God as a child trusts us is where we all need to be.  Letting go of control and giving it back to Him enables us to let go of so many things that are weighing us down.  Listen for Him in your heart. If you turn off all the brain drain going on and push back from your computer, TV and work... just sit in the quiet and listen for Him.   "I listen caref
