Keep up with it, so you do not have to catch up with it.

“Sometimes you climb out of bed in the morning and you think, I'm not going to make it, but you laugh inside — remembering all the times you've felt that way.” Charles Bukowski

Monday is the beginning of the week. So, if I blog on Mondays, you are likely to start seeing my thoughts on cleaning.  I know my adult kids will not even read these journal entries. Monday seems to be the primary clean day and Friday is the secondary ready for the weekend clean day.

We get through the weekend and usually the house gets pretty gnarly. Especially after all the rain we have had. Mud, dead grass, and more seem to make it through the doors to the floors and carpet.

I have to remember back to my grandmother and my mom and their approach to cleaning.  Both would say, "Keep up with it."  The work, the mud and the ever growing mess. Even with just two humans and two dogs, there is a lot. I know both my mom and grandmother took care of messes immediately. Things do not stack up needing your attention if you catch it right away.

Always works better to keep up with it and not have to catch up with it.   Every morning when I roll out of bed, the first thing I do is make the bed. Terry is usually up walking the dogs, so before I even stretch out all the way, the bed is made.  I did try to teach my kids that but I have no idea if it carried through.

When it comes to the kitchen I am a stickler for having it clean after meal prep, eating and cleaning up.  I sometimes miss sweeping the floor and I need to get back in the habit.   I always clean and sink and counters. (I love using Thieves Essential oils for cleaning...diluted with water of course.)

Before Terry retired, I always vacuumed before he arrived home from work.  Somehow now if I do it, he is jumping up trying to take it over.  This is good... but he doesn't see so well, so maybe not totally good.  I will keep him though, because ANY help is good help.  He is a fabulous floor mopper too!

So that is this Monday's thoughts on cleaning.  Starting the week, see if you can catch  things as you see them.

"Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few." Ecclesiastes 5:2
