Well... this is much better for me as the artist, but I am still pondering a touch of color. Groan, yes you have to wait until tomorrow... I cannot even add the color until this dries...so it may be even longer than that!
I did a painting in 2011 or 2012 for a collector in Dubai. I had a sketch from his painting that I used for this painting of four horses advancing forward. I always paint in odd numbers, but on this canvas size, four was the balance and that is what evolved. This was more like the original 'etching' but I could not get there without going to the other place first, the experience over the past days and all the added layers of paint made this piece credible. Only from the past experiences could this painting be born.
In life it is always easy to detour... go our own way, do our own thing. Suddenly we realize we are out there somewhere and we are ...gulp... rather alone. We have chosen our own path and taken a few hits along the way learning new lessons. These are our past experiences. They build our character. Thankfully those lessons often bring us back closer to God. We cannot be one with God if we are off doing our own thing and it does not include him.
Our life is like a tapestry... with threads of many colors. These threads are our life experiences all carefully woven together with a variety of textures and colors. It is the tapestry of our life. In the same sense we are each a piece of thread in the tapestry God is weaving. We each represent our unique color and texture from our lives. God is the artist weaving each thread into a part of his magnificent whole.
I have to go back in time to one of my favorite songs by Carole King.
Tapestry by Carol King
My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue,
An everlasting vision of the ever-changing view
A wondrous woven magic in bits of blue and gold
A tapestry to feel and see, impossible to hold
Once, amid the soft, silver sadness in the sky,
There came a man of fortune, a drifter passing by
He wore a torn and tattered cloth around his leathered hide,
And a coat of many colors, yellow, green on either side
He moved with some uncertainty, as if we didn't know
Just what he was there for, or where he ought to go
Once he reached for something golden, hanging from a tree,
And his hand came down empty
Soon within my tapestry, along the rutted road,
He sat down on a river rock and turned into a toad
It seemed that he had fallen into someone's wicked spell,
And I wept to see him suffer, though I didn't know him well
As I watched in sorrow, there suddenly appeared
A figure, gray and ghostly, beneath a flowing beard
In times of deepest darkness, I've seen him dressed in black
Now my tapestry's unraveling; he's come to take me back
He's come to take me back.
Blessings. Laurie

From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live, Acts 17:26
