I scraped all the thick paint off and from the scrapings came these beautiful earthy colors.  I have created two small new pieces newly listed on my website.  There are some awesome close up gallery photos of the paint showing the layering.  This is the essence of these paintings, to pile them in layers.  There is a week delay in shipping as there are still a few areas wet and these oils form an outside layer of skin that dries before the piled paint below it. I keep looking for the fifth horse because I usually paint in odd numbers but this is definitely four unless you see one lurking in the background.  Do you? I would also like to know if you like this style of horse painting?  It is very  contemporary.   I was thinking of doing one similar this next week. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." This powerful painting  of two horses standing in the winter wind was 'not conforming' when it began as a bear horizontally.  An artist just knows when something is not right. For me it is at that point I have to trust in God and in the Spirit within me to find a new path. The original painting had a lot of brown in it and was horizontal not vertical. You can see the dark colors that were pulled with a knife up and down (Side ways above) when I decided to wipe the bear off.  Then I flipped the canvas vertical and prayed. The Light Within, is one of my painted pony pulls and I rarely do them.  But I did do this one today!   There is a tale of the Painted Ponies from Golden Pond Studio aka Elle Pace Studio. Back in 2006 a nude was turned into a field of ponies coming straight at you. That is when the story began of those painted pony pulls. There is a strong intensity of colors building into something on the canvas but I have not arrived yet. Still am struggling with the Canon 7D. Seems like my limited knowledge of its power was messed with in the move. I cannot get clean clear images.  Will have to make a trip to the camera store or find someone nearby to help sort it out. I have basically worked out the composition but the paint approach is too simplistic. Life is more complicated and created with layers of experience. Such will this painting.... layers of development and I will share each part of what seems to be a paintful journey! Thursday... it is almost the weekend. Still not unpacked. I may have to take two days off to finish doing that.  I am beginning sketches for another stretch of small paintings for the future that will be offered only on the blog. This are paintings that evolve into large paintings.
