"I had this piece finished, I thought...but it was not until this morning. Following His guide on this right now. This one was up to sell but not complete. I spent this morning finishing the painting . PUSH Against the Wind"  PUSH There was a front pushing in this morning ... when we woke at 5:30... the wind was stirring and the clouds covered the moon and stars.  By 7:00 am, the west look out of our home was a muted bright orange glow and out the east side a sun trying to rise above the wind and turmoil.  By 8:00 am the sirens were going off constantly. Tornadoes, high sheer winds and lots of rain became the story. Watching these strong cold fronts barrel in from the north west meeting the warm southern air we have had the past week (

"With thoughts of Christmas and the New Year, I think of the end of this year coming swiftly.  It is not like a sunset because of the cold of winter and cloudy skies... but it is like the sunset will bring in the next sunrise and 2023. I love painting sailboats, water and sunsets together... they bring joy to me. "  Starting Over? Often in December, I get really excited about the 'start over' of the next year and start making plans of things to do or to paint.  December is a blooming time in my head for what could be ahead. New ideas, new plans, new challenges, new worlds of thought and new races to run.  Despite the doomsday of most news outlets that things are changing for the worse through 'global warming' (which is not a

The color combination wowed me in a satisfied hunger way. Something about the dark green field in the back and the colors began to build. It was from a photo I took of our flowers several years ago, but definitely not matching in colors. If you like Thick Buttery Layers... you will LOVE First Bloom"    Trust the Process Many times in life things seem to get 'turned around' and more negative thoughts surface over positive thoughts. We all have our own path to travel and God gifts us the ability to make decisions on the journey.  Not sure about you, but some of my first adult decisions were not the finest, in fact they were pretty off center for me.  I was young

ONLY IN TEXAS Here in North Texas we were below freezing already several times. But the past five days it has been in the 70's and my roses are blooming right outside my studio window.  The next frost in about a week will kill them back again.  I zoomed out in the misty rain today and snapped some photos to inspire me.  I have not painted roses with knives in probably 8 years.  It was time to have a flower in the studio... in fact I did a small flower today as well that I will share tomorrow.   In this Winter Bloom 12 x 12 painting, you will have the thick buttery palette knife oil painting I have done over the past 22 years. I am collected world wide for my horses and anything done in knife, which is 98 percent of my work.   I had fun toda

"A Favorite" Working on this commission painting was a favorite because it was for a favorite person in my life who is an artist and did not know his wife had commissioned this. Favorite Person... now a favorite painting of his horse.  I need to share what my cousin wrote on FB today after the death of Kirstie Alley.  My Cousin is a favorite person in my life, a partner in prayer, a sister in Christ, and a servant of the Lord.  "I don’t like to stand in line, but if I wanted to eat, I had to wait my turn in line. This morning I read about Kirstie Alley death. The article said it was from a sudden onset of cancer. It made me think about standing in line waiting for food. It reminded me that we are all standing in line on our way to judgment, most of us, just don’t know when we will r

Beneath I began laying up a few canvas this morning in between running errands, cooking, moving china and cleaning out drawers. Things are always shifting when you least expect it. It is late tonight, already past six. I always used to blog at 6:30 am each morning. Not sure I could get here then, I am on the treadmill each morning by  6:30 doing my 3-4 miles. Usually walk at least 45 min and just trying to squeeze a faster walk in.  I have been in touch with another painter I have know for many years, Elizabeth Chapman. She is an awesome artist and I own  three of her paintings now.  She took a small break from working about the same time I did, and I am still redefining and shifting, wanting to get back to the pleasure of the journey and not
