But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why they were there.” — PAULO COELHO, THE FIFTH MOUNTAIN Leaving the lake was not easy.  It was not about a better view or nature around us, but we wanted to be here and present for our grandchildren. With one next door, two only four blocks away and two more about 45 minutes away, we are here for a reason.  God is EVER present in our lives. We want to be present in their lives. We want to cheer them on and support them, to love them and watch them grow in God’s Spirit. MILNE  One thing about being retired is not having to wake up so early and dash off to work or an appointment. Mornings are easier and a bit more relaxed…but the day ahead is completely out of my hands.  The depth of our heart is the center of our emotions and our will.  It actually determines much of our actions and desires.    Read More Here “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise” — EPHESIANS 5:15 Laurie Pace  -  A Texas Artist   INSTAGRAM  : @LauriePaceBlog Follow me on Facebook           Sign up for my monthly studio newsletter.      My Website          GALLERY LINKS Mirada Fine Ar

Before this bulb was planted, I knew what flower would bloom.... January Journal with Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Here I am at fifty-eight and in this past year I have only begun to understand what loving is … forced to my knees again and again like a gardener planting bulbs or weeding, so that I may once more bring a relationship to flower, keep it truly alive.” — MAY SARTON, JOURNAL OF A SOLITUDE It was a cold November when Terry and I planted bulbs for the late winter and early spring.  I am careful to lay out the packages with the bulbs as I direct the symphony of the planting by the time of emergence breaking the soil and blooming to perfection.  The tall ones in the back the short ones in the front and then of course the dates they will bloom syncing it all together.  READ MORE HERE . “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.” — LEWIS CARROLL, ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND & THROUGH THE LOOKING-GLASS A Snowy Path This was the catfish pond in our backyard at Lake Cypress Springs. The lake itself was on the end of the pond with a dam of ground and a pathway across it. That is our home in the distance... READ MORE HERE “ So may all your enemies perish, LORD! To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." ― WILFRED ARLAN PETERSON Choosing Your Path When you are a kid, life is really easier.  You can intuitively go where things are inviting you and you always have a good time. As you mature and grow into adulthood, a few of those paths are laid out after you make certain decisions about getting married, or having a baby.  As you sink into full responsible adult life, it calls upon you to make decisions and choices daily. We all go through the anxiety of decisions.  I had a Father that brought me teaching me to make lists… pros and cons. Read More Here   “ Jesus a
