Out of the Calm Waters, Women are strong and resilient.

None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.” Jane Austen We are weaving into another contemporary horse painting done at the same time as the last watering hole. The colors seem to be where my heart was as I continued using that palette. Dee  Love the quote today. Women have much strength and resilience. Some do not even realize how deep it is woven within them.  Our Father created woman with all her gifts to be a strong mate for Adam.  It does not seem to matter the 'generation' you were born in or the circumstances of the times, we were hand crafted by God.  I know the women in our family have generous hearts and are capable of almost anything. Sometimes we sell ourselves short, or step back w

Something to Hope For... Cypress Watering Hole

Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   “They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.” Tom Bodett Right now our life is full and we are so busy and blessed. On one side we live right in the midst of our grandchildren and their families. On the flip side we miss east Texas and the lake and our friends.  We took steps to joining a new church that is a new campus of a larger church, and we feel really blessed by this decision to go and visit and get to know the people that call it their home. It meets at a Marriott in the conference rooms right now as they are so newly established, there is no land purchased yet or site built.  Getting in at the beginning here has been a blessing. The men and women we have meet welcomed us like old friends. (I am smi

No Trouble on the Town Square... Tales of Texas

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Tales of Texas 8 x 10  Oil on Canvas  SOLD  Visit Ellepace.com for new available work.  “Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all.”     Emily Dickinson I loved painting this little gem!  Took the photos in downtown Mount Vernon, Texas when we lived at the lake. The Sheriff has his gun at his side leaning back on the old picnic table under the trees. There will be no trouble on the town square! We will never realize the fullness of God's strength in our lives if we ignore the spiritual protection he offers. Every day I pray for protection for each family member. The peace God offers in return flows through me. I know He has this. He has it in your life as well.  Isaiah 40:29-31 " He gives strength to the weary  and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary,  and young men

Pony Up! Share the smiles today.

Count your life by smiles, not tears.” John Lennon  Yesterday I finished the first layer of background on the cowboy I am painting. He is on a beautiful gray roan horse roping a black calf.  The actual cowboy does the duo team calf down competition. Yes, Dan Jordan, I did not call it the correct name I am sure! John Lennon never had the chance to grow old and finish out a longer life in this journey. Our politics and music grew far apart over the years after my high school graduation in 1970. I love the part of this quote that says "count your life by smiles not tears."  I do find growing older the 'friends' number seems to diminish as many are taken by cancer or heart attacks. Our 50th class reunion is this year, 2019-2020.  I remember graduating from

At the Easel Today! Painting with Laurie Pace

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 At the Easel Today  Don't forget to visit my website for new available work! Ellepace.com “I wish I had the talent to paint the way I feel about you, for my words always feel inadequate. I imagine using red for your passion and pale blue for your kindness; forest green to reflect the depth of your empathy and bright yellow for your unflagging optimism. And still I wonder: can even an artist’s palette capture the full range of what you mean to me?”  Nicholas Sparks As I head to the easel this morning, I decided to post early on my blog and not at nine pm at night!  Back in 2006 when I started blogging, I did it faithfully every morning. Seven days a week.  I was painting one painting every day except on Sunday and I had things to share. While part of me wants to do small paintings every day, without Daily Painters, I would be challenged to sell them.  The Lord guides me these days.  W

Ramblings of Sunrise and the New Day.

Ellepace.com    © +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 “Not knowing when the dawn will come I  open every door.” Emily Dickinson Found this simple photo of a lake with an early sunrise in Finland.  It brought a quiet peace to my heart and soul. If I could wish that for each of you, I would.  Imagine the cold in these woods as the photographer came upon the lake early in the morning. The dark clouds breaking up as the sun breaks through with soft oranges and pinks. I know he paused before the shutter clicked, and he felt the magnificence of the arrival of day, just like a new baby being born... the tiny head rotating out first before the next push brings the full birth.  A new day offers new birth to opportunities, new horizons, new experiences, a chance to start again, to discover something new and live another day. It brings hope. It matters not if you are in Finland, the United States, Japan, Australia... Day will break and with it ends the

I can see clearly now... the fog is gone!

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Finding the Path “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson Was not sure if I wanted to post a dog chasing it's tail or this foggy path.  Are they the same? Maybe not.  Right now I am leaving a "trail" of papers everywhere in the house.  Have you ever thrown yourself into busy work, generating piles of papers, notes and plans around you but not ever moving forward?   Have you ever had to make a decision you just could not make, so you procrastinate making it? (Yes, more piles of paper.) Have you ever looked at the clock at the end of the day, back at the piles of notes and realized you still did not accomplish anything? By this point in life, I have fallen to my knees crying because of the loss of direction. I have ALWAYS been a go getter, a planner, and an achiever.  Being in my sixties makes me realize there a

Dancing in the Leaves with the Lord.

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 Dancing in the Leaves 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas  Sold.  “ “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” Friedrich Nietzsche Fall arrives on the calendar next Tuesday.  Someone forgot to send the memo to those of us that live in Texas.  The Dallas Ft Worth area remain in the mid to high 90's and at night in the mid to high 70's. We are 10-15 degrees warmer than we should be. In the colorful painting of horses above, they are celebrating the cooler colorful nights and are up under the moon dancing in the leaves. When do you 'dance in the leaves'? God wants us to be happy in life and joyful. Today finds many of us tired and burdened with stress and work in our lives. ( I am probably talking about the 40 and up generations)  I am blessed to have three children, all married with children... that grew up conservative, empathetic to o

Colorful Hydrangea Flower Painting

© +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 The Gathering   30 x 40  Oil on Canvas  “ “With freedom, flowers, books, and the moon, who could not be perfectly happy?”. Oscar Wilde  This past week I moved into painting something soft and brushed with the colors of my heart.  I am pretty sure it is done unless I unleash on it next week once it is dry for a second time.  When I think of bringing in a neutral off-white to the painting, it seems to puzzle me on why... I still may do it. I am rather drawn into this soft colorful hydrangea painting.  Meanwhile I was up till after midnight struggling with something that kept me awake, but nothing I could grasp easily. I pulled out my spiral and began writing. Four pages later, a peace began to fill my mind and my body began to relax.   We are all a product of our environment. We are affected by computers, ipads, phones, television and more. I heard on the news the new Iphone 11 is causing cases
