Plato (427-346 B.C.) We are all growing older.  There are more old people daily and more crossing over the 65 mark. After being around many between that age and up, I know one thing… I do not want to be a grumpy old person.  Do you?   "Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be." Robert Browning (1812-1889)

Self Esteem and Self Worth, Laurie Justus Pace, A Texas Artist

If only I'd known that one day my differentness would be an asset, then my early life would have been much easier.” ― Bette Midler I was reading recently an article from becoming minimalist on why self-worth is more important than net-worth. Today in our world it always seems to 'matter' about the net-worth and who can collect the most toys. As an artist, your value seems to be dictated by your gallery representation and the image you portray online.  We all have the opportunity to put 'the best face forward' for that image.  The truth rarely lies there.   What is the difference between self-worth and self-esteem? The ego beg

We welcomed three weeks early, our newest grandson.  He weighed in at 9 pounds 9 ounces ... yes, three weeks early.  This is a three generation photo of my eldest son, myself and our new 'Logan Justus Brown'.  I know my Dad is smiling in heaven.    Justin's first born, Jonathan, was my Parent's first great grandchild.  Seems fitting that Justin and Tara would come in with the last great grandchild. I hope my Mom gets to see him soon! This is Terry, my husband, Grandfather to both Jonathan and Logan, the oldest grandson and the youngest grandson.  He is one h

I promise to post a photo of the final painting once it is done.  This morning I was reading in Psalm 16. I have read this psalm many times in my life, but it was this morning it truly wrapped my heart.   We all seek to be happy.  My grandmother always told me happiness came fro

When I was younger, there were times I was really uncomfortable being alone. What I have learned in the past years is that silence and alone time builds a strength in understanding who I am, and that I can be comfortable in my life as this person created by God. Perhaps when we master the solitude of aloneness and quiet, we begin to find our self worth.   Too often in life today, we are pushed by our own thoughts and needs to finish or accomplish things. We all set goals that are unattainable and our self reflection is then that of failu

You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”   Eleanor Roosevelt  I began this blog on Sunday but here it is late on Monday. Terry and I are heading to Fedex with two large packages heading to Mirada Fine Art for a new Southwest Show coming up. Things have been crazy here. I was finishing up three rather large paintings for that, along with the 60 x 90 inch triptych for San Diego...which he packs up late

Melina Marchetta I did not even want to ‘share my thoughts today’ after I read this…but I want to share the rest of the quote. “This hand says you spend the rest of your life with me," he said, holding out his left hand, "and this one says I spend the rest of my life with you. Choose." She bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. She took both of his hands in hers and he shuddered. "I will die protecting you," he says. There
