What makes you laugh?    I tend to appreciate less stress so that I can relax and be myself.  Time to dust old things off, let in fresh air, change the water in the dog's bowl and open my heart to spring as it arrives. That my friend is less stress.  Then go and play with a grandchild

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."  Reinhold Niebuhr It is human nature to REACT and not think before reacting.  Often our mouths lead the charge and we regret words spoken in haste.  Seems to be hard at any age to do this.  Engaging your brain before you s

And everything did. Your whole life you can be told something is wrong and so you believe it. Why should you question it? But then slowly seeds are planted inside of you, one by one, by a touch or a look or a day skateboarding in a park, and they start to burst out of old hulls shells and they start to sprout. And pretty soon there are so many of them. They are named Love and Trust and Kindness and Joy and Desire and Wonder and Spirit and Soulmate. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” ― Marilyn Monroe Paintings change for sure. This started as a red wolf... look how far that went.  People change too. Both Paintings and People change. Some for the better and some not for the better.  So this red wolf became part of my expression for an

Harburg This is it, the final painting. I hauled it outside for pictures in the shade so the lighting would be as close to normal as I could. I hope you find the story as you look at this piece. There are many story lines woven into the surface and it is part of who I am throughout a discovery journey in painting.  I remain at a standstill at the moment. I had a mild case of the flu but enough that it took me over a week to feel semi

How can I keep it, conceal it, bury it where I may never lose it? I want to kneel as it falls over me like rain, gather it up with lace and silk, and press it over myself again.” ― Anaïs Nin, Henry & June These are two more close ups in the painting. There are hearts painted throughout the piece as well as centralized and it has "GOD" right above the heart.  It is in Lady L's handwriting or printing at the time. The drawing below is another one from her sketch book. I used many of her sketches in bits a

"What is it like?"..."It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine...” ― Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden Not sure you can tell, but I wiped off more of the yellow on the forehead, deepened the shadows on the face, brought up the light on the face and added more to the hair.  I also raised the values surrounding her face.  This week you will see the finished painting.  I want to share some of the pieces of it close up. I am doing a lot of this while working on this painting.  Layers and layers of paint and experience building here on the canvas and in my soul.  &quo

We all seem to want to be noticed in life.  Some of us dress the part, some speak the part, some serve the part.
