My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know?” ― Ernest Hemingway This was a favorite painting from way back in 2004 era for a friend that lives in Mt Vernon. I love to visit because I get to see it framed and hanging and very very loved. Do you love sleep? I do.  The older I have gotten it sometimes evades me and that is frustrating. I use to be able to sleep almost anywhere. My Dad was that way as well.  Sleep at night is truly the beginning of the next day. It is the sleep you get that empowers you through the next day.  Most times you thi

The more startling and shocking news can be... the more they sell and make mon

There is only dishonor in not racing because you are afraid to lose.” ― Garth Stein, The Art of Racing in the Rain The painting comes from early 2010.  Takes me back in time because Terry had pneumonia severely and I was total caretaker for him, while taking care of the house, our foster daughter and painting full time.  I was just coming off of eBay with contracts with galleries.  I was not sure I wanted to share this one today but I really really liked the movement and the colors. Sometimes it happens and you just stare at

What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” ― Helena Bonham Carter The quote almost stands entirely on its own. Remember your mom or grandmother telling you "pretty is as pretty does"?  That is where I was going to go in writing this morning, but then I found this amaz

Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values Zow... really going back to 2004 still. This was of a group of motorcyclists from a Church Riding group in Argyle.  Wish I had a better picture that was not so fuzzy. This is not one of my best pieces but it is in my heart.  I guess it is the state of our nation, or maybe I should say the LACK of the state of our nation.  I will not address politics, but I will address the growin

"You grow up readin' about pirates and cowboys and spacemen and stuff, and jus' when you think the world's full of amazin' things, they tell you it's really all dead whales and chopped-down forests and nuclear waste hangin' about for millions of years. 'Snot worth growin' up for, if you ask my opinion.”  ― Neil Gaiman, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch Things are never as they seem.  This is an old... wait for it... contour drawing watercolor added piece from 2004

I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough..” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook I might have to do a repaint of this one. Not sure where my original photo is, but  a new sketch might provide new thoughts and i would love to see how I approach a second paint on it.  Not often in life do we get 'second chances'.  When God does allow a

When you are raw, you are always ready and when you are ready you usually realize that you are raw. Waiting for perfection is not an answer, one cannot say "I will be ready when I am perfect" because then you will never be ready, rather one must say "I am raw and I am ready just like this right now, how and who I am.” ― C. JoyBell C. I found an old file from 2004 and in it were some images of paintings from 2004.  I had some that were showing both beginning and ending steps.  I miss painting
