The same as the stories they tell. We trap ourselves.” ― Chuck Palahniuk, Haunted Was listening to a minister on Sunday morning and heard that same thing I have known forever... we own our pain.  We seem to nurture it and keep it around, never allowing things to heal.  We never allow ourselves to move on. We trap ourselves. We keep that pain in the deepest area of our heart and mind... but that is right where the pain is overwhelming.  Why do we do it to ourselves?   It is time to let some of y

Trying times are part of our life's journey. Trying times brings on distress... and that becomes full blown stress.  One of my favorite things to do when I am on that edge of despair is to think about happier times that were full of joy and love.   I might even look for old pictures that bring back moments of that calmer time

If you don’t get that from your father, you have to teach yourself.” ― Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail Yeehaw... nothing more stressful than thinking about 'battle'...but you do it every day. Constant stress when you are away from family and friends not there to support you. Worry about them when you are not there to support them. We seem to create a world aroun

I have an entire series of these from this year... ten years ago. You never know what is in the archives. Sometimes it is scary! Happy Sunny Day wherever you are.  Be a gardener today and plant a seed.  Could be a real seed or a seed of love and kindness. It gives the promise of a future bounty. This act of 'planting' is an expression of faith.  "'You have f

We do not grow chronologically...

We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.” ― Anaïs Nin Layering. I want to sit here and see what comes through praying on the words The Layering. When I paint I work in layers of color. Sometimes I work dark to light and sometimes light to dark. OR I could work values to values, or

You would be surprised how differently you hear everything when you are still.  It was in Genesis at the description of God speaking to Adam after he and Eve had consumed the fruit from the tree of knowledge.  The story went on to Cain and Abel and the death of Abel and how God spoke that wickedness began in childhood.  That was the part that struck me.

Sometimes we use love for things it is not.  Love does not bring you peace, protection or constancy. Love it not a guarantee when it is between you and another human.  So while you read the quote above, you might have taken it only human to human.   That is one way to look at it.  You have to give to receive.  You cannot always be on the receiving in and there are no promises.  The only relationship that you can d

I scrubbed drawers and glass and Terry scrubbed out the sides and doors with their slide in containers.  Took us two hours to clean it all and put it all back together. But dang... it feels rich to open the door and see everything you need to see.  Moving back to cleaning... the house.  We have a plan that has been in place fo

Today you're here and nothing you do will change that. Today you are alive and here and honored and blessed with good fortune. Look at this suset, it's beautiful, neh? This sunset exists. Tomorrow does not exist. There is only now. Please look. It is so beautiful and it will never happen ever again, never, not this sunset, never in all infinity. Lose yourself in it, make yourself one with nature and do not worry about karma, yours, mine, or that of the village.” ― James Clavell We simply cannot take over the wor
