Lewis As children many of us learned to sing "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine... " We learn about light at an early age associating it as a child to being awake, fed and either working or having time to play. If you stop and think about the many sources of light in our world today, there are so many of them you cannot count them. What is light to man?  I came across this passage from Ralph Waldo Emerson:

You must take this journey alone. It is not far, it is in reach. Painting in Progress Laurie Pace

You must travel it by yourself.  It is not far. It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know.  Perhaps it is everywhere - on water and land.”  ― Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass Here is the final overlay with medium and acrylic.  My original thoughts were a herd of buffalo on the low horizon and more sky...but the more I think about that the more I do not feel it it the right path to take for this painting. I spent time this morning going back through prior vertical pieces as th

This piece is being thought out with a bit of frustration. It is with a gallery in mind that has the mindset of telling the artist what they want or need for selling...which is truly NOT the way an artist works if they

One of those days I think about what began my journey in art and my journey in life.  I loved Rachel's quote about the grains of sand and the story of the earth. In the same line of thinking, my artwork has a story line of my own life on this earth as does my blog. There have been many influences over the years from history, living, relationships a

She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the heck she is.”  ― Ellen DeGeneres I really do not have a huge funny bone, but this one struck me and made me giggle.   We all start things trying to get somewhere and never get there and on the flip side we never start things and we always end up in odd places.  That is how painting on canvas always goes... if I have a destination I can PROMISE you I will not get there. Much easier to just let the day happen and see where it takes me.  Maybe

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Sometime in our lives we have annoyed other people. Sometime in our life we have hurt someone's feelings.  Today many of us hold grudges, resentments or thought of revenge against someone or somethings and it will often lead straight into health problems. I love Oscar Wilde's phrase about annoying them more by forgiving them.  It truly will help you move on to more peace and a healthier life.  Through this process y
