It was back then, in 2005, one of the largest canvas I had painted, well over six feet in length. Terry had to build a huge crate for it to be shipped.  We left on vacati

Multigenerational...can you spell it? Laurie Pace

Seems like we are the only nation in the world that does not do it any more.  After the world wars, families began to split apart and live separately...but only in the good ol' USA. As a teacher in Texas, I watched the slow disruption of families as divorce rates increased and the 'me' attitude took over. Who was home helping the kids with homework or preparing the dinner?  Several of my students from my fourth grade class at White Roc

She is now getting close to four months old, has found her hands and absolutely loves music.    How does music affect your life?   Share with me on facebook:   We had Connie and Rick Justus visiting last week. They have been missionaries in Japan for 30 years and just moved back to the states.  On a tour of the US to visit relatives, they squeezed in a stop with us here in north Texas. They had lunch with my mom and two brothers and then drove to our house for d

When I am painting I normally do not think in 'favorites' but rather in harmony of the first chosen colors. Usually I chose three colors, two near each other on the color wheel and one contrast complementary color. I rarely do paintings in these shades as they are my favorite shades.  Try to do something this day that is a favorite for you. Splurge and indulge yourself.  Laurie "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so a

Does it hurt? Did you see what just flew overhead? Moment by moment . Horse Painting by Laurie Pace

Will there be physical change for others to see?  Every day as we awake, we unfold our lives. Some of us in meaningful ways and some of us in controlling ways or obsessive ways. When you have a change of heart, change of life, or a transformation of spirit, is there  something people will see?  In the movies it is the 'bolt' unexpected, or the fly by from the sky. In the movies there is a sudden change in char

Rebirth begins. Equine Painting Laurie Pace The painting is an oldie goldie, but one I think of often. Lives in California and it was one that I sold on eBay back in the day before I signed on with Galleries. The power in this painting still amazes me despite the rudimentary horse. As we are into May, my work is reborn with each journey to the easel.  Around me outside the grass is bright green, flowers are budding and blooming everywhere, and the trees are covered in thick brilliant new green leaves.  Even the sky seems bl

The Suburbs? Really? No trees huh? Lots of People. Lots of Concrete. Painting by Laurie Pace

I am not convinced that is true of our growing concrete in our larger cities and the footprint we are leaving wiping out land, trees and nature in the sake of building more offices and homes.   We all grow and change through our lifetime and we literally cannot stop life from happening.  In my deepest heart I still cringe at the growing suburbs of humanity all trying to have their slice of the 'American Pie Dream' to "have it all".  I question whether we need it all.  Do we really need game rooms a

Authentic in Life, in Word and in Deed?  We each have our very own  DNA. We also have our very own physical and spiritual nature, different from all others. Our experiences and responses to situations in life build that individuality in each of us.  So many times it is easy to get trapped trying to be what other people want you to be and you separate from your individuality. With the loss of individuality is the total loss of sincerity.  Make your smiles count; make your words touch hearts and create happiness; be true to yourself in your actions and r
