Others seem to empty us of energy and life itself.  Mother and I talked about that the other night. Back in the day... let's say at least twenty years ago and going back... people were different than they are today. Yeah yeah... everyone today is on a schedule and has an agenda list. Sharing is encouraged today as well as constant praising. Look at facebook and twitter. We cannot do anything without sharing what we are doing. We are needy people and very m

Would love some comments on this one if you have.  I read about mazes in English Gardens, especially in mystery books.  Things are always hidden in the maze. To those confined in the tall bushes and shrubs, they only have the path they visually see. There is no way to look off into the distance to see the journey ahead. From the path they have traveled they have a memory of what was

Still Snow on the ground? Is this really March?  The cold freezing temperatures raised the bar in the studio this morning. I brought out the powerful RED.  I am in amazement at the first week of March and the continued cold, sleet and snow.  Flowing from the top left upper corner is the flooding of warm hot sunlight turning red as it surfaces down to the horses and the ground. This beauty sold already. I had it on the Collectibles for sale and the first day it was up... it was bought.  If you

Touch me in the Moonlight. Garth was playing in the background... like four different albums during the first day of this paint. I finished it up to Alan Jackson and some gospel music. This painting was FUN FUN FUN to do. Every stroke of my knife was play and discovery. I am leaning in more to enjoy the process and let things happen with the paint.  This piece will be in the Western Show at Mirada the end of March along with the Buffaloes, other Horses and Rocky the Longhorn. Maybe I should rename

Is it going to hurt? Return to the easel and close your eyes.  Well, the eyes that keep me working suggested changes on Rocky.  So he had to have a facelift back on the easel.  No more rings around his eyes. No more longhorn spots... and a bit more expressive colors throughout his face.  He is on his way to Denver for the Show at Mirada the end of March.  I am not sure if Terry and I will be there or not but we are seriously making plans to attempt to. It means Lady L get a break from homeschool. It means finding a house sitter for Paddy, our

Her life story is pretty amazing.  I still remember her face, her short dark brown and gray hair, and her eyes...one blue and one green. As a child I literally followed her around the kitchen and stood over her when she sewed. My Grandmother could cook anything.  The first thing she taught me was how to make homemade pancakes. "Wait and count 1000 bubbles before you flip them." I was always flipping them too quickly.  Her sewing was amazing. We could walk into any store and find

Going in Search . Snipe Hunt in the backyard . Too much Dead Grass . Blue Morning Glories by Laurie Pace

We only have one, and gee whiz, going in search in the backyard to snipe is about as twisted as the painting above. The dead grass is dry, brittle and breaking off into pieces. Somewhere buried and woven through the grass are the 'gifts' of love Paddy has left us. I have the best eyes, so I am the hunter. Terry handles the equipment that scoops it all up. Takes us about thirty minutes each week and we have tried to make it more fun. During the summer months it is not as bad as these cold winter months.  Often in life w
