Sold ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Follow me on Facebook           Sign up for my monthly studio newsletter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I paint these small landscapes I have this urge to escape to where the water is as vivid as the sky at sunset.  This is one of my favorite tiny  landscape paintings .  They always tell you when you are stressed to try and envision some place in your head and mind where it is all good...all peace and beauty.  It is like a focus point to escape whatever is stressing you.   I find that  prayer  helps me be calm.  Sometimes it really takes its toll before I realize I do not need to feed into the chaos around me or the entanglements.  I have that choice.

It was late at night when I ventured back into the studio to paint. You can tell by this image that I was working by light only.  I began to pull some of my neutral grays throughout and began to 'feel' a pattern come to front as I went next to paynes gray.  Then I came in and knifed in the whites allo

I came back the next day and finished off the brighter colors layered on top.  Palette knife painting is an expression of spirit for me. The richness of my Holbein oils are creamy and knifing them is a pure joyful act for me.  It is the gift I know He gives me and I am joyful doing it. I am  happy  when I am creating and painting.

If you think about it, it is  God's  light and  God's  warmth reaching you... even if through my painting. God always gives to each of us freely our gifts.  We either use them or lose them.  Same with the sunlight... you either enjoy it

No glazing or layering, This was more color blocking. A friend saw it on Facebook and I am sending it her way. It is the FIRST GIVE AWAY  painting  for the season of holidays.  The journey painting it was fun.  I love  painting  something that calls to another person to love.  The painting is going to a home to be loved. That is important. In the vast network of friends on FB, I love the fact that she jumped out and said... I hope to share more of the contents and the exploration I am beginning as I blog each day. Last night, tired as I was, I pulled out the book and read the first chapter.  It really made me sit and think about the 'why' of painting. Focused in thought I began to examine exactly the depth of the gift  God   has given to me.
