Yesterday I wrote about staying the course with this painting because I knew in my heart it was not complete.  Right now I feel it is finished. Usually I would be peppering the painting with Violets, oranges, turquoise, gre

It is still a bit on the 'undone' side, the flavors have not blended entirely.  The painting will remain on the easel over the weekend and I will be in and out looking at it and studying it to see what is not quite right yet... Even as I type this blog I see things that need to be finished, but this is a process and I cannot hurry it along

Very unusual as Terry and I are usually up and about by 6:00... so seeing that 7:00 on the alarm clock was a 'wow' moment.  We are so fortunate to have the flexibility to sleep in when our bodies need the sleep, but the norm is early rising for both of us. Today I will be returning to the canvas to work on this contemporary horse painting. I am using a palette knife. I have a favorite size that I prefer and over the years it is like an ex

As I mentioned in a prior writing, I sketched this onto the surface last week and had intentions of painting Friday last week and then of course hopeful for the weekend and it never happened.  Finally on Monday I was able to block in the values and Tuesday I began painting. It was fun to paint and create. Drop this into a frame and it too would make an exciting holiday gift. It is getting close to my fall giveaways. They will be one and off through the fall and then of course my traditional 12 Days of Free things which last year turned into 24 things!  So you might want to start c

The horses I am working on today were charcoaled onto the canvas about five days ago and I have literally been waiting patiently to paint.  I was up early this morning; I am showered and have wet hair curling wildly as it dries, pulled in clips from my face to keep it out of the painting process.  Terry was super great and had a protein drink ready for me an hour into the piece...and I returned to w

Perfect gift for the upcoming holidays.    This piece is on hard board. It was coated with brilliant cobalt blue acrylic and then came the layers of white oil and all the caramel browns, reds, turquoises and more. I love the textured look of the blue beneath the white, just like stones, twigs and grass beneath the light layer of first snow.
