Landscape Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Meditation  Size: 18 x 27  Oil on Canvas.SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Have not painted landscapes in a very long time. Would put that at about two years right now.  I came across this painting from November 2006.   Gives me food for thought. May be time to go the Arboretum and shoot some images to work off of, or to White Rock Lake next to the Arboretum for some water shots.  I also have a large file of sunsets on the lake from Cypress Springs.  Ideas?  Email me a photo you would share for ideas. #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Summer Horse ... Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Summer Pony   Size: 12 x 24   Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Getting unstuck is not the easiest thing to do.  All of us seem to be in a routine of comfort and even thinking about doing things differently brings anxiety which leads to many other things. The painting images taped to the canvas are my older pieces and are up there because I am painting something similar for a commission painting. Keeps the color flavor fresh for me. Terry helped me rearrange my studio again. I need to buy a new chair for in here. My laptop is set up with a small TV for that 'noise' I crave when I grow weary of music. I am really into the DYI station and learn so much by just listening and glancing up on occasion.   The idea is for me to connect to a computer while working for my camera shots. I have been literally running up and down the stairs,

Taylor Ponies Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Taylor Ponies   Sold  Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This was a painting of my guitar originally. It became Horses like so many of my paintings become.  Horse obsession maybe? Named it Taylor Ponies after my Taylor 914E. It is raining outside.  Terry got up early this morning and was shoveling dirt off his organic dirt pile he had delivered last week.  Looks like a slow day of rain and something much needed in this area.  We could use a full week of rain if at all possible.  Most of the lakes are between 10 and 20 feet below normal.  Drought in Texas. Paddy is running in circles around me crying because he wants to help Terry with his dirt work...wrong. He wants to get outside the door so he can RUN away!  It's not that he really wants to run away... he just wants to run and be free. He seems to think he has too much responsibility around here and needs a break.

I am going to take Sundays off from the blog as well. Have a blessed Sunday and spend it with family and friends. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Appaloosa in the Wind, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Appaloosa in the Wind  Size: 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas. Contemporary Horse Paintings Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This is one of my top ten favorites as well. It is at Davis and Co Gallery in Houston.  http://www.dandcgallery.com  Color and design are the strong points in this painting. It is not for the meek of heart.  I feel more men are drawn to it because of the strength, but many women like the mystery of the work. There is a gentle presence with the stance of the horses calm in the movement surrounding them. Often when our lives are in turmoil we begin to wonder what to do to calm things down.  We loose energy wrestling with what we could have done differently and slowly we begin playing that blame game.  In actuality there is a gentle presence with us all the time... God is there through it all. If we can slow the blame game down and open our heart and mind to

Horse 46 Fan Dance, Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 46 Fan Dance  Size: 12 x 12  Oil on Canvas Panel. Contemporary Horse Painting Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Didn't recognize the flowers? Rotate the canvas clockwise one turn of the square and it begins to fall in place. If you have time click through to the available paintings to see the close ups on this one as they are incredible. With it being a painting built on a painting the layers lend to a depth not often seen in painted artwork.  The little centered part of the green on the horses face is central to the contrast of the red throughout the painting. The blue does the same with the orange. I truly loved changing and evolving with this painting. Trusting in God all the time as you evolved is not easy. We see our friends or family in stressful situations and we wish we could change them. We often find ourselves wanting to push a 'restart' button when we

Funny Flowers, Contemporary Flower Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Funny Flowers  Size:12 x 12  Oil on Canvas. Contemporary Flower Painting Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  So I had this urge to paint with a brush but kept it to a small canvas as I knew it would not survive the journey.  Part of getting it out of my system I guess. BUT it was fun.  About two hours after finishing it... yep, it became a horse and you will see it tomorrow.  Just remember quiet flowers BLOOMING into action when you see it. If I am not open to trying the brush on occasion I find myself in a rut. I need to stay open to new ideas and new things around me. Abundance surrounds me. Abundance is something that is there for all of us. It may not be in what we think we need or want... but we have abundance in our lives.  In my head is a constant abundance of ideas, discussions, debates, celebrations and songs. Yet I know we all experience the feeling that we are lackin

Horse 47 Facing the Light Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 47 Facing the Light  Size: 12 x 12  Oil on Canvas. Contemporary Horse Painting Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  As I painted Facing the Light ... I decided to keep this painting uncomplicated. It has thick layers of oil and movement with texture. It does not have a complicated layout... it is simply woven together. The joy was in the simplicity. We often search for something or someone to make us happy. Same with artists painting on a surface... constantly looking for that perfect painting. Does perfection come from something outside of ourselves? This is when we should turn inward and look for the discontentment and what is behind the discontentment.  Something is lacking inside of us.  The circumstances in life do not define us.  As an artist they do not define our art unless we are using those circumstances to communicate our feelings and express it directly onto

Horse 48 Uneasy Ride Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 48 Uneasy Ride  Size:8 x 8  Oil on Canvas Panel. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Raw paint. Uneasy edges. Patterns of paint colliding together weaving into the surface of this panel. It is there among the texture.  A horse painting emerges... easily but with the flow of paint, I entitled it 'uneasy ride'.  First time painters initially struggle to bring content and paint to the canvas. With each day they gain confidence and strength in working with their oils. The biggest hurdle is not to copy or use an image (photo or painting) of another artist.  When you realize as a painter that the surface of that canvas holds unlimited ideas, you have arrived. This blank canvas holds the surface of a new world, a new creation... a new painting.  If painting becomes a struggle and not an adventure, it is time to change your perspective. Walk away from whatever is limiting you.
