Horse 40, Adventure by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 40 Adventure 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Every moment at the easel is an adventure. Some turn out better than others, but the best ones are the unexpected journeys where I do not try to control what is evolving on the surface. The painting that was up yesterday came out of a scraped canvas... this small energetic piece came from some of the same colors that were left on my palette.  Hence the name 'adventure'. May this day be an adventure for you.  Let Go and Let God. Was watching an episode of "Calling the Midwife" on PBS several weeks ago and in one of the scenes a man said, "My Mother taught me when something knocks at the front door, you open it up and it blows in... and then you open the back door and let it blow right on out."  That sent shivers down my legs and arms.  From that day forward, every time

Rocky Mountain Sunrise Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Short short fast posting.   Terry had wrist surgery on Friday and I am doing the wife/nurse thing for the next two weeks. I will try and post on and off as I can and I hope to keep painting.  This painting was finished on Thursday. Personally I love it.  The strength and majesty of the stance of the horses and the colors just pull me straight into it.  I am debating on submitting this for a museum show in El Paso later this summer. Let me know your thoughts. As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. Weathering the Storm Colorful Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This piece is coming home from a gallery to be sold on my website.  Stop by and see some of the incredible close ups of this painting. Color contrast creates the strength in this contemporary Horse painting.  This week is a busy week for us.  Terry has wrist surgery this week and he will be laid off of doing any work with his right hand and arm for the next two weeks.  Yes, that leaves me with garden responsibility, trash responsibilities, cleaning the house, wash, vacuuming, ...really with all of it. Strength is something that I need over the next two weeks! Prayers are welcome for his healing.  Also tomorrow a tree is coming for our front yard. Was suppose to come last week, but the rains kept it from happening. They called this afternoon and said it was bundled and ready to plant in the

Horse 38 Under the Old Oak Tree by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  The paint seem to travel in the left direction on this horse painting. The wrap of color in the purple on the left side was puzzling at first. There is a strong red pull diagonal through the painting.  When I first started carving the horses out, I only had the two. But I knew quickly the purple was a tree and living in Texas it had to be a Burr Oak Tree. They love the climate here.  Then the second horse appeared and I took pictures and sent them through Photoshop.  It was empty but I saw the rump of the third horse in the background.  Back to the easel for the addition of the third pony.  The paint is seriously layered on this painting. The texture is amazing on it's own.   So think of this painting as a hot summer day in Texas with horses gathering around the old oak tree in the

Horse Painting 38 Eclipse by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Sometimes I wonder where things come from when I paint. Each time I pick up a brush or a knife it is with a prayer for the spirit to work through me in the painting. I certainly did not set out to paint and eclipse. I struggled wanting to scrape this canvas but there is something strong here between the horse and the sky and the eclipse. So this horse painting stands. It will either find a home through your heart, or be gifted later this year, but the tie to it, the spirit coming from it lives. Terry has been REALLY busy in the backyard.  I need to take pictures. While Dallas had a tornado and about 12 inches of rain last week, we had a measly quarter inch...but despite that the beans are peaking out of the ground in the garden and the carrots are sprouting.  Mother's Day brought la

Mothers Day 2014

Some of these are gifts are gifts of love,  courage, healing, listening,  understanding, acceptance, wisdom, teaching, joy, and believing. The list is endless when you have a mom like mine. She cornered the market on those yearly science experiments we had to do. The one that sticks out in my mind the most was making water run uphill.  When did she get so smart?  I was only in fourth grade then. I hated science.   I remember her teaching me from early grades forward, that there would always be people in my life that were different, or angry, or mean, or sad.  Each of this people were children of God

Summer Rains Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Quiet colors, a bit off the beaten path for this artist, but really nice for a change. The muted violets and the soft yellow greens bring intrigue into the painting...and for some dissonance a bit of orange. We all have that in our lives you know... that dissonance... the part of us that flares out different from the core of who we are. Mine is the color red that 'flares' up in my life occasionally in clothes and now in the color of my car.  It is like the 'rebel' in me I guess. Red was my Dad's favorite color and when he was in his last year of life I bought my car, my red car, and it's name is Gerald after my dad.  My kids are laughing if they are reading this.  My youngest told me at breakfast last Sunday that before I died he wanted a written confession of all the bad things I

Sunrise Greeting Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Sunrise Greeting 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Even if I tried over and over I could not possibly get a good shot of this painting. The intensity of the sunrise with the pinks and golds and oranges is incredible.  Made me think of Colorado or even Wyoming near Jackson Hole. The skies clear and the sunrise vivid. Some mornings we wake up and life seems ready for us. Our plans are in place for the day and the things outlined that we need to accomplish. We anticipate joyfully all ahead, jump out of bed, dress and start that day...but...have you forgotten something?  Is God on that list?  He should be the waking thought... and the words of eagerness and joy thanking Him before you even push that foot out from under those covers.  Bring God back into your day, your hour, your minutes...give Him an active role in your life. Therefore confess your sins t

Morning Mist, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I painted with a brush on this canvas allowing the paint to take its own path. There is an undercoating of acrylic and then I began to work oils across the surface. Here is a shot of the weak acrylic wash over the surface.  In this shot I had just begun to use the soft yellow oils behind the neck and shoulder area on the horse.  It sat over a weekend before I came back to it.  In art and in life you will learn quickly that if it is good today, it is good tomorrow.  Waiting on things and praying about them is the only way to allow God to work in your life.  #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart   #horselovers Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter.
