Horse #15 White Horse, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse 15 White Horse 8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I was painting with Lady L in the studio as I began this one. The surface paint again in acrylic and then about 10 over layers of oil before the horse is started. With the horse there are at least five more layers of paint. These take a two to three hours each to do and right now I am promising to do them at $100 each... but I am thinking about doing a few a bit larger for $145 each as well.   Email me your thoughts on this.  I was thinking 12 x 12. If I push any larger than that the prices have to jump as that is then in the sizes I do for my galleries and it costs much more to ship them. White Horse appears next to a waterfall of purple and blues and white... sliding into the green landscape below.  The contrast of orange with the blue and the red with the green. Makes it all lush. Horse #14 Spring Fever by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse #14 Spring Fever    sold 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. other  Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I loved the fresh palette on this small painting.  Trying different things is always a challenge. There seems to be a false sense of safety in doing it the old way all the time.  I know growth only comes with taking a chance and trying no things.  See that fresh light blue on the bottom left? He stands alone although there are traces of him in the blue section on the bottom right.   Salting and Peppering find darker blues through out the edging of the horses.  The orange and blue are contrasting colors and the green on the edge of blue on the color wheel makes this palette a complementary split but with analogous colors. Here is a good link that explains some of the choices you have while painting. CLICK HERE> After you paint awhile, it becomes second nature to know what works n

Horse #13 Fly Away by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse #13 Fly Away 9 x 12  inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  The energy in this painting bounds off the surface of the canvas. It seems like a startling palette but it is filled with balance and energy as the reds and oranges make is seem blazing with power. The two horses seem to be jumping across a river of golden energy pouring down from the sun. Hoping Spring might be here in Texas.  We had cold this past weekend but we are hitting eighty this week for the first time!  Fly Away Winter! “In that day,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “I will make the sun go down at noon     and darken the earth in broad daylight.  Amos 8:9 #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart Blessings Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Horse #12 Hesitation, $100 Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Horse #12 Hesitation 9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. $100 SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  I absolutely love doing this small ones again. It seems to open up so much potential for larger paintings.  There is a sense of freedom with the color and the fear of 'correctness' does not seem to creep in. The creation is in the palette and the mix directly on the canvas. Again with this horse painting there is a layer of colors of acrylics and then the oils pulled on top in the same areas. It is 'accidental' happenings as they mix and take form. Yesterday Terry and I drove out to east Texas to Mount Vernon where we use to live. I tried to reach Ann on our way there, but I missed her. She is a dear friend that I could have used her hug!  We visited the Fletchers, our oldest friends since junior high. They have 200 acres, cows, horses, donkeys, birds, snakes... you name i

Horse No 10 Night Run Horse painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Night Run 8 x 8 inches Mixed Media on Canvas. SOLD Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  Such  a busy day.  Discovered on Wednesday night that Southlake Central Market had crossed a major line and used one of my paintings to print off 24 posters of it to complete a wine display.  I was not smiling. Terry and I spent most of yesterday traveling to several Central Markets in Dallas to see if this was HEB wide or just with the Southlake Store.  It definitely was just that store.   I stopped in to see the GM, but he was in Italy.  So I phoned and was put through to visit with the head of Operations here in the Dallas area.  They have my images and my work and they know my feelings about this. Normally for small things that do not cross boundaries with my licensing company, I allow use of my work with acknowledgement of me as the artist and my website. This was blatant. It is very easy to

USUALLY it ends up a horse somewhere in the journey, so time will tell with this one... It may be weeks in the making but this is my first posting of in progress. Thinking God wonders about us being 'in progress' all the time. The season of Lent is upon us. My mom always said add things to your life while most people walk away from habits or foods... perhaps it would be good to do both.   I would give up 'fear' and add 'trust' to my life.  #giveupfearaddtrust #horsepainting  #lauriepaceart  #equineart #childpianopainting Laurie Pace A Texas Artist   Subscribe to my studio update newsletter. Where the Buffalo Roam Abstract Contemporary Buffalo painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 Where the Buffalo Roam 30 x  40  inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This could have been painful...but it was definitely paint-ful. This piece was a special painting for someone in Colorado that is a huge supporter, alumnae of University of Colorado at Boulder...and they wanted buffalo.  The first paint was aimed at several landscape photos shared with me and the idea of wanting a sunrise in the painting.  Even after the discussion of painted pulls go up and down and landscapes go sideways, I proceeded joyfully with lush colors and thick paint. As you can see from the slideshow... the painting changed to the more contemporary pull painting of my horses but this screw up was mine... those buffalo look like the UT longhorns... gotta he

When You Wish Upon a Star, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014 When You Wish Upon a Star... 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Available Paintings by Laurie Pace  This painting has been in holding part of a show and this is the first time I have to share it with you. This painting almost sums up 2013 but it was painted in June last year. It was so darn much fun to paint this one... the energy was huge in the studio, music was country and a mix of gospel... and the colors just fell into place exactly like I felt... the dark of night and the light from above providing the path.  We had just returned to the DFW area almost a year ago. It was March 25th and I still marvel at the wonder of being home and closer to family.  God is good, all the time, God is good. This painting is available through Davis&Co Gallery in Spring, Texas. The Gallery has it's grand opening the last weekend in March.  I hope to see you there then.  For God hath
