Heart Contemporary Fine Art, Heart Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Life Givers  10 x 10 inches Mixed Media on Canvas. SOLD  Who are the life givers you know? These are the people in your journey that are always there for you, always giving and providing when you need it. They never ask questions because they know you so well, and they know you only ask when you really need something.   Life Givers ... I believe God has a special gift He gives to some of us.  Just being in the presence of a life giver provides comfort to you.  While some may believe 'things' can be life givers, I personally am drawn to the touch of a hand, the warmth of a smile, the kindness of help and companionship when I am weary.  A life giver empowers you to continue and make your way. They support you.   In art I felt this in the symbol of a heart and from there I did a series of heart paintings. This was the first one. "Take delight in the Lord,     and he will giv

Abstract Contemporary Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Abstract One by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 Oil This was painted at the lake last year.  I did a series of abstract pieces that were tied to a larger painting.  There is always the sense of discovery when you are doing an abstract painting. Show me the wonders of your great love,  you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.  Psalm 17:7 ellepace.com lauriepace.blogspot.com Galleries: DutchArtGallery.net MiradaFineArt.com RareGalleryJacksonHole.com SouthHillGallery.com © Graphics One Design 2014

Bathed in Gold, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Bathed in Gold by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 20 Oil This was completed in 2010 and is available in prints from Fine Art America. Here is a link to purchase a print.   Click here.    This was such a surprise painting for me as it emerged from layering of colors.  Very contemporary horse painting and very loose, it still manages to capture the essence of horse! "To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. Four Black Horses Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace 2013 Four Black Horses by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 Oil Painted a few years ago in 2010, I found some opera music written about four black horses. I had done this contemporary horse painting in celebration of that opera. They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honor.  Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar.  They fly like an eagle swooping to devour; they all come intent on violence. Their hordes advance like a desert wind and gather prisoners like sand. Mixed Media Collage Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Collage Fall 2013  12 x 18 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  This was an intentional paint to imitate one of the 100 ponies I did in 2012. That poor little 8 x 10 pony was loved by a company to do very large prints and it was not here for me to even use to scan... so I created something with the same heart, a kindred spirit. The underlays are pages from a western book and then torn papers of different varieties were added along with stains of paint and purposeful areas of paint.  This would not be a painting I would do today, but the goal was to capture the spirit of the first painting. This is available for purchase. Please click here  to see pricing and painting. Line Shape Form and SPACE, the fourth element of Art by Texas Art Teacher Laurie Pace.

Line Shape Form Space Frank Lloyd Wright said:      "Space is the Breath of Art." By definition:   Space is an element of art; space refers to distances or areas around, between or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep and two-dimensional or three-dimensional. Sometimes space isn't actually within a piece, but the illusion of it is. With little ones we always have donut day when I teach space...but we cannot do that over the internet.  So I took up my pencil and looked around the studio. I spotted first one of my stools in the studio... so I quickly shaded in the space around it.  Then the coffee cup holding my hot tea.... and then just a jack that was sitting on the table. (More of my work further down in the blog.) So how can you turn this into art that it works in a composition? Here is an example by M C Esher.  "Sky and Water I&qu

Seven in the Sun, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Seven in the Sun 32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  I promised seven horses and seven it is. I am tweaking and it is hanging so we have to wait to see for last changes. I have not taken a 'good' image of it yet, this is unlit off the easel. The sun is in the back left quadrant... the blue skies ahead are in the right quadrant.  The horizon line is not the same across the painting.. one side is lower than the other and if you saw my beginnings you know why. The beginnings were in the from of a cross, but not smoothly established but jagged and displaced. So much symbolism while painting. I worked with the numbers seven and eight as a foundation as I laid in colors and piers through out the painting. The top is divided into three sections, the white the sun and the sky.... the fourth portion is made up of the seven horses.   It is officially hanging for the next 48 for final touche

Horse Painting in Progress by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Horse Paintings... Not there yet.  32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD  Well maybe by tomorrow a closer to finished painting!  This is exceptionally thick paint and it does have impasto mixed in since we have 'drying time' to consider.  Want to ship it early next week, or Terry and I will be doing a road trip to north of Tulsa Oklahoma. I did some research. Mark's background has Cherokee Indian, and he is from the Wolf Clan.  (I promised wolves later) But, as I researched the Cherokee numbers... looking for a number that was strong for them, it was the number seven. They had seven tribes within their whole. So look for seven horses tomorrow. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
