Progress on Colors of the Night Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Colors of Night  24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas.  Went back to this painting. It has been hanging around in the studio for about a month now... and I just wanted to finish it. It was a good experience. I darkened the rest of the background and highlighted other areas with color and I can call it finished. Layers of texture created this contemporary Horse Painting. Then layers of paint, probably close to 20 layers of paint and texture total. Think about your life and the many layers of paint and experiences that make up who you are. Is God included in those layers or are they all about you?  You are still a work in progress.  Laurie Pace A Texas Artist Pace Studio  Graphics One Design My Blog          My Website          Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards          CFAI.co      GALLERY LINKS Mirada Fine Art Denver CO ,   The Rare Gallery Jackson Hole WY

PROCESS PAINTING by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Process Painting 16  x  20 Oil on canvas  I took to the studio to play and have fun.  I am putting together my workshop for August at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.  You can still register at the Gallery for the full two day class or only for Saturday. DUTCH ART WORK SHOP LAURIE PACE   Brave at heart... that is what it takes to let go and play. Sometimes we force things on the canvas and try to make them work. I have learned that abstract painting is not for the faint of heart but for the brave soul that will step forward and not be afraid to make a mistake. For the artist that can be swayed and moved and excited by colors blending and mixing...for the artist than senses balance and composition.   If you think about it you have to be that way with life everyday. If you are over controlling it is simply NOT going to work. That results in total frustration. Trusting God each day fo

Treasures by the Sea by Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Treasures by the Sea Commission SOLD  This was a fun portrait completed for a friend and her family several years ago. I am behind in the studio... need to take pictures of what I am painting on right now and it is too late in the day and it is cloudy.  I will not complain about the clouds or the cooler temps at all, or the rain. Please stop by tomorrow to see the art I am working on right now. Terry has been busy in the kitchen replacing back splashes. This is a hard job that takes experience when you are piecing together small pieces of stone into patterns. He did not want this stone, but I fell in love with it.  So pictures of this will follow soon as well. Blessings to you all. Beneath the Branches, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Beneath the Branches  24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.  Venetian Plaster is the base on this contemporary Horse Painting, followed by acrylic overlays and then 20 layers of oil blending into pure sensual power.   You can buy this painting by clicking here if it is still available. When I gaze around the world, I see His creation everywhere, yet much is overrun by man's creation.  Cities are towering and more cement is laid daily as populations spread oozing out from the city itself. Perhaps that is part of the tension and creation in this painting. It built simply and exploded with passion as the days went by and I worked on it.  How do we stop the massive march of man to have more, build more and be more, when he is truly nothing without God? Carving out time in a busy day to spend it with God rarely happens.  Too much pulls our attention and even more demands our time with constant

Three Grazing Summer Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Venetian Plaster Mixed Media

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Three Grazing Summer  30 x 40 inches Venetian Plaster Mixed Media.  Summer time and it is the month of celebrating our freedom here in the USA, but again daily the celebration that we are together as a family, loving, laughing and making memories with our children and grandchildren.  The move back to the DFW area has really been a journey with mixed emotions, but as I post this painting, I realize how often we all look to the greener grass and want to cross the road. Sometimes we do cross and we find the grass to be bittersweet and not all it looked to be.   God has plans for each of us, but our headstrong human trait of trying to control everything rears its demands constantly.  When you are working on a painting, you have to find the spirit of that canvas and that paint as it works its way into the layers of color that make it finally what it becomes.  This summer I have opened my heart

Did you ever think about making a decision and then sleeping on it a few nights? Trying it out to see how it fits in your life? I believe too often we make snap decisions and suffer consequences unexpectedly from them. Give some things a few days before responding or deciding.  All must be in God's time. Summer Herd 2013 Contemporary Horse Paintings #9 Red Eagle by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 # 9  Red Eagle Summer Herd 2013  9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.  I was working with Alizarin Crimson and an orange of sorts and I came across this green an it became a must in the composition. I chose to use it boldly. Sometimes in life we have to be bold and step out of our safe zones. God not only follows us, He leads us and when we falter He carries us. Summer Herd 2013 Contemporary Horse Paintings #6 Contemplation by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 # 6 Contemplation Summer Herd 2013  SOLD 8 x 10 inches Acrylic on Canvas.  Years ago in high school I was known for my pen and ink drawings. I loved my Rapidograph pens.  I had several points and many cartridges and could sit for hours doing my pen work.  I have debated doing more again and that was the slight inspiration to this  small summer herd painting. I would never do these on a large scale because of the work of Amy Ringholz as it is too close to the signature style she uses. If I return to my pen and ink it will be just pen and ink on paper. Nevertheless, I did enjoy working on this beauty. It is from a photo I took of Ms Victoria's horses in Mt Vernon and a pose I liked so well I have done two horses from it for this series. You will see the other one in a few days. Laurie Pace A Texas Artist Golden Pond Studio Visit the Visual Language Artist of the Day Blog
