Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 # 6 Contemplation Summer Herd 2013  SOLD 8 x 10 inches Acrylic on Canvas.  Years ago in high school I was known for my pen and ink drawings. I loved my Rapidograph pens.  I had several points and many cartridges and could sit for hours doing my pen work.  I have debated doing more again and that was the slight inspiration to this  small summer herd painting. I would never do these on a large scale because of the work of Amy Ringholz as it is too close to the signature style she uses. If I return to my pen and ink it will be just pen and ink on paper. Nevertheless, I did enjoy working on this beauty. It is from a photo I took of Ms Victoria's horses in Mt Vernon and a pose I liked so well I have done two horses from it for this series. Not sure if I can do it again, but the piece in person is pretty incredible. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Wish Upon a Star   32 x 48 inches Mixed Media on Canvas, mainly Oil.  Well the canvas definitely took on its own spirit as the colors begin to slide off my knife.  Intense and precise, determined and stubborn, the horses had their own way onto the surface and I could only stand back and watch it evolve. I had several process images but decided to cut to the chase and post the final contemporary horse painting. Purchase Painting Here. My daughter and I are both controlling people. So hard to let go and let God work His plan...that we often have to stay each other and remind each other to sit down and breathe... wait upon the Lord. We all have something in our lives we are holding onto tightly trying to control. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Progress of something new...  32 x 48 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.  The colors are powerful as they stretch across the canvas.  This is a thick layer of acrylic paint covering the surface first for the next contemporary Horse Painting.  I love to contrast the colors of blue and orange; I believe they are my favorite complimentary colors to use on my canvas. Right now Terry is busy painting another room in the house. He finished my raspberry bathroom and the bedroom is now a rich dark gray.  Next on my agenda will be finding fabric of the drapes in the room and making those.  I promise pictures when it is all done.  We are taking our time nesting in with the new house. Nothing is in a rush.  Enjoying every day as God gives it to us .
