I am definitely in the way of this painting.  I will see this through but probably will do a repaint of the sketch as this was not the direction of intent. Do you often go off intent on going a certain place and find yourself sidetracked? Then you know where I am right now. SOLD Commissioned Painting  I arrived at the smile I wait for and that feeling of energy and completeness.  Incredible knife work with very thick strokes of color complete this dynamic contemporary horse painting heading for the United Kingdom when it is dry. That may be a month as thick as this paint is.  To the drying room it will go. A new week is already begun and I have sketches in mind as I begin  to work in the studio this week.   I read something recently that struck home for me as the parent  of adult children with children and some without. As a parent you want and wish for the best for your children. I have to stop myself from over doing and still trying to 'fix' things.   Neale Donald Walsch sent this out in his message last week. She found a painting she liked that was 5 x 7 and completed in 2007, so we are using the same color palette and the spirit from that painting for her new Contemporary Horse Painting. I am learning less it best as I begin to examine different approaches to the canvas. Cannot wait to paint again tomorrow. Need to order more canvas as I have gone through two full orders of my specially stretched canvas from Rupen at http://canvasplace.com  He uses special smooth canvas on my ordered pieces, not the norm. I do not want a toothy surface to work on.   I imagine God would not like a 'toothy surface' to work on with us either, but being human we tend to really get dirty in life. We are full of mars and scratches and rough on the edges.  He is ever patient with us waiting for us to let go and let Him lead. It would be less wear and tear on our lives.   Keep it simple. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Color Fast in Progress 24 x 30 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.   So far it is just acrylic piling on in layers.  Took the colors on the palette out a different door for me too.  Red is pretty strong and tying it in with orange is almost out of the ballpark...  At this point I was really getting worried on direction again and a bit hesitant that I might have a throw away or give away painting. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013 Pain.ful  oops Paintful Journey?  24 x 30 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.   This really was a painful journey.  I am at the point of floundering and questioning direction with work as I want to grow and not stay stagnant.  The new studio and new house has been awesome for us and I have been painting quite a bit the past six weeks.  So I was playing around on approach and you will watch today and for the next two days how this one evolved.    Remember I am a commercial artist by trade so picking up the lines in charcoal and black paint were going in a different direction this time...but really? I say that often about things that happen in life... really? I actually was so up in knots while working on it, I had to walk away and redirect my energy before coming back to the studio. That often happens in life.  We have to redirect our though patterns and rediscover the positive in life; reconnect through the gifts of the Father. We are all blessed in so many ways and daily we miss acknowledging these gifts. Keep an open heart and open hands.  You are strengthen through Him. So the colors were sharpened and some clarity came forth. We are through the week of family and into work again. The loss of a loved one is hard on everyone as they are missing in the fabric of our lives.  I appreciate all your kind words and prayers and emails that sustained us through this week.
