Cat Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

CAT SOLD ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact me for your own commissioned painting: Laurie   Herding Cats     This boot hangs on one of our trees in the backyard. It was left by the prior owner. Some days I absolutely love where we live...and then desperation hits of missing my family.  Usually if I am outside I am smiling as I love the peace and serenity of living here.  God wants us to find that same serenity in finding our home with Him.  Why is it so hard for us? I had an email from artist Sharon Hodges . She was trying to console me as I am putting together a book for the Artists of Texas and our show this fall. Instructions were simple, Send me.... 1. FIVE 300 dpi images at 9 inches  2. One bio picture 300 DPI at 3 inches  3. Bio of 400 words or less in WORD     In pure frustration I only saw maybe 10% of the artists follow my directions. The rest became a battle day after day....and last night I hit the wall. Sharon was trying to console me.

We have our ideas of where we think we are going, but actually we will probably never get there. Hey, God knows what is around the bend and He is actually trying to prepare us for what is ahead. If you are like me though, you are going the opposite way or doing things you think are more important than focusing on Him and His way in your life. We generate most of the chaos in our lives ourselves. Are you ready to let go of it to lay your life in His capable hands? When we walked this morning Terry had the dogs with us. They have absolutely no clue what is happening in life further than the moment that take their current breath.  They are anticipating and eager to w

We all have times in our life that we are working on something, be it a recipe in the kitchen, cleaning the house, painting a painting, playing a piece on the piano...and we step back a moment and go "Wow, that is really good!" Chances are it was something that you prayed about and allowed His spirit to work with you. Can you remember what that feels like?  A job well done.   Something that might be worthy of mention by others.  The feeling blooming from inside you for a good job done is fulfilling. The praise from friends and strangers feels pretty good too. Although you did not seek the praise when you did it, you are satisfied with your hard work. You might even feel completed in a sense.  (I do not want to say proud because that is not

I am grateful for all of them, even those in disguise I seem to miss.  If I take the time to look around me... As I write reflecting on the week, there was a forest fire across the lake from us on Friday afternoon and evening. It was contained by midnight and when we awoke on Saturday a steady rain drenched our county for many hours. My painting friend Ann Morgan was evacuated from her home on Friday evening and stayed here in Tall Tree with our neighbors. I can't imagine a time better to pray out of 'afraid' with something this huge wall of fire closing in on you.  Ann only had a few moments to take what was the most precious. She laughed saying she grabbed her pillow first and her dog second. She did get some clothes and her laptop and some important papers and her jewelry...and then

Bowing down to worship is the act of freely giving love to GOD in every aspect of your life, not just in those moments of desperate prayer.  How can you expect intimacy in a relationship that you do not contribute to? Start small if you are just reaching out.
