Abstract Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Abstract 150 16 x 20 inches  Acrylic on Canvas   SOLD        © Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Homeward Bound We arrived back in the Piney woods of Tall Tree around six last night. The heat is very oppressive.  We shared lunch with my Mom and Dad, hit Whole Foods and then hit Interstate 30 Homeward Bound.   BTW....It was Paul Simon that actually wrote that song many years ago. He was living in Brentwood Essex, England and wanted to get home after a performance in Wigan... and yet he also yearned to return to the US. It is a favorite on my guitar from the sixties. We seem to spend much of our lives trying to get somewhere.  Be it a new job, finding a new place to live, or a new church home, or new friends, a vacation, or something that pops up in life. We are rarely satisfied with what we have and are constantly looking and yearning for things beyond our presence.  I know many times I have heard the phrase...Home is where the heart is. I believe Lady Antebellum

Palette Knife Tree Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

Palette Knife Tree SOLD I have decided to do some more of my palette knife trees. This is one I did about two years ago. I have this need to photograph trees in the winter when they are bare.  It is revealing in strength to me to see them with out their crown of leaves.  I have many photos to work from and will be sketching them out one by one. Trust this will show up in words to follow in the next week or so as Terry and I are reading a new book together on worry.  I guess I have heard it over and over that worry is a sin, but some where on a plane in my bran I must think my worry doesn't count. It is justi

Hey let's face it, neither can we. Storytime 1: We traveled into Dallas yesterday to visit Dr Steve Worrell, our physician for many years now.  I first met him back in the fourth grade at Lake Highlands Elementary School.  We literally use to chase each other around the playground. He gave me my first kiss in fifth grade...but I ended up in love with Terry by seventh grade.  He is still one of our dearest friends as well as our physician.  It was one of this annual trip for prescriptions you have after the age of fifty, but we covered a lot of ground in about 45 minutes.  Dr. Steve, who is our age, has four kids under the age of three.  He also has adult kids and grandchildren.  His wife gav

Glazed Sunflowers Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

As our little box kept trying to 'call' out to connect... it could not do it.  I thought my grandson was going to melt down.  We all thought he broke it when he was in here pushing buttons. Boy did we all kid him about it. Finally we reached the phone company using my dependable VERIZON phone and listened to the sad recording that the lines had been tampered with and cut. About a month ago it happened and it was due to teenagers stealing the copper and it knocked out phone lines and everything.  I am sure it was something equally ridiculous.   God works

Justin, Tara and grandson Jonathan. We helped raise Jon for his early years in life until about age 7.  He is pretty special to us as he approaches his 14th birthday this summer.  I ran around yesterday morning sweeping and mopping and just before they arrived I realized I was missing my bracelets and my cross. I had literally 'given up' everything at the spa the day before.  It was a mad search in my purse to find it all, including my wedding rings.  But all was found, work was finished...and they arrived safely. Our visit will be full of fishing, sailing and lots of visiting with eating involved.  This morning Terry is making those good yeast waffles that my brother and sister in law make.  I am hungry but have to patiently wait. I am heading out to cut up strawber

Relaxed. Tired. Ready to sleep. Giving up to the therapists and professionals to remold my body back to its natural state. Started with a pedicure and leg massage, followed by a manicure and arm massage and then an hour of full body massage, reflexology and a head massage.  Somewhere along the line I had to give it up. I had to give up the tension and empty my rocks out of all of my pockets. Giving it up and all

Progression on Zappa, Horse and Woman painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on the lady and her love! Carrying on with this painting..more layering but much to go. These paintings are truly a labor of love.  The plan was to capture the spirit of love between the woman and her horse. Hopefully I am on my way there. Sometimes I hold my breath while I am painting...just waiting and watching.      Winding Stairs I have to go backwards to those Winding Stairs and twisty roads.  Just look at this picture again: Now think about your life.  When I was double checking my blog yesterday before posting it, I realized there was a whole different direction to go with the 'journey' of my blog.  Watching for a second in my mind, the highway on this image... making its way uphill curving and twisting as it goes, it is just like our lives. I am sure the Father's plan for us is a bit less twisty and every time we take off bent to control and go our ways, we are putting in those huge 180 degree curves.  When you stray in your life away from

Progression on Zappa and Diane, Horse and owner painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on Lady and her Love. Commission Painting of a Woman and her Horse. 24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas I had to reverse the drawing... Diane wanted this side of Zappa's face in the painting.   This is Zappa... What a beauty!!  © Diane Holt 2011      Hospitality  When we were driving home from Fayetteville AR yesterday, we were driving through the Winding Stair Mts in the Ouchita National Forest area in Oklahoma . Winding Stairs is not for the faint of heart.  Click this picture to find out more online.  I literally could not shoot with my Iphone as it would blur.  We were doing S curves that were 180 degrees each way or more. One on top of another one.  And that was not on flat territory...that was on climbing and descending.  When we first hit this area on Friday... the first speed reduction with arrows was 45... and I said, "Honey try and keep it at least at 55." We were doing 70. The Passat handles really really well. It is a TDI turbo. T

Hearts for Hospice SOLD to raise fund for Cypress Basin Hospice. © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Today is their first married day together, my niece and her new husband. Weddings in the family are always a joyous event.   We just  celebrated Morgan's marriage to Kelly the end of May and now it is time to celebrate this union. Tomorrow on the Fourth of July, it is the one year anniversary for Justin and his beautiful bride Tara.   Marriage is not always easy.  I shudder remembering back to early days of adjustments. Still today I get disgruntled when the toilet paper is put on with the flap of paper going under instead of over.  Simple stupid things. Yet deeper are the chords that tie us together. The experiences and growth that have formed us as a couple. The sad times, the angry times, the joyful times and the times we laughed and loved and fell asleep in total bliss.   His hands are the hands of man that works hard and give his entire heart.  They are rough and

Special Offer for my Collectors  for my Show at Mirada Fine Art in Denver Click this image and give it about 10 seconds to load...   Experience the beauty of Pareidolia and my palette knife at work.       From Owner Steve Sonnen: "This is Laurie's way of saying 'thank you' to all the people who supported her in her amazing artistic journey.  Obviously we're excited to present her works to brand new collectors, but it only seemed right to let her long-term collectors see these brand new paintings first.  We also wanted to offer  them a discount if they would like another one of Laurie's masterpieces for their home.  Laurie's 'Pareidolia' exhibition is a celebration of her broad range of abstract contemporary work.  Pareidolia is the phenomena of seeing animals in clouds or faces on the surface of the moon.  It is also what happens when Laurie gazes at her thickly applied strokes of oil paint and begins to visualize equine forms.  As a coll

Zappa and her Mom      WISDOM from Friends I had several really 'welcome' emails from friends this week.  One was concerned about the 'depression' I mentioned from exhaustion.  Katarina's email touched my heart and as I read further her words created joy with laughter. "The Sisterhood of Burned Out Women."   I wrote back and suggested she coin the phrase...as I am sure there are many of us out there.  That become more evident when I received a second email from another artist with her wisdom. "Learn to say "no" and focus on a "smaller circle" around you.  Someone told me that the other day and I thought that is a good way of putting it.  W
