The Stance Abstract Horse Painting in Progress by Contemporary Texas Equine artist Laurie Pace

Progression on The Stance 24 x 30 inches  Mixed Media on Canvas This unique piece is in progress. As this horse painting proceeds I will post updates. I truly am sitting on this debating on direction.       © Laurie Pace Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact Me: Laurie Taking A Stance Sometimes in life we have to take a stance.  You either are or you are not.  We must stand up for what is right; for what is truth; for what is moral; for what is best in God's plan.  Compromise might be word that sounds good, but if you are truly a believer there is no compromise.  We take a stance in the name of the Lord. If you are called a fanatic, let it go, let it be, be yourself and take your stance. Stand on God's word; stand on God's promise to man; Stand in God's light and His love.  Several months ago Terry and I had to take a new stand on our health and our eating habits.  We knew just as you know, that beef is not good for you.  Sugar and white flour is not good

Sunset Sail Modern Palette Knife Sailboat Painting by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

Sunset Sail Commission SOLD This was painted for one of my earliest collectors.  She wanted a brilliant sunset painting with corals, oranges, turquoise, blues, reds and every other color you could imagine.  Done with a palette knife and about 10 layers of paint, she has her sunset sail for her Florida home. Terry corrected my sails before I started on this one. Being a sailor, he is very much in tune with the jibs, mainsails etc and is always quick to correct my drawings if I am off for my sailboat paintings. 20 x 30 x 2 inches   Oil on Canvas     © Laurie Pace Graphics One Design 1998-2011   Contact Me: Laurie   Adversity  I was not sure what I wanted to write about last night but after much prayer and the completion of this painting,  I decide to write about adversity in our lives. When you sail you basically have to rely on the weather, the wind and your skills. There are not motors on our sailboats.  I know last summer I shared the story of one terrific storm t

Rollover Red Horse Oil Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Rollover Red 30 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas SOLD I painted this horse painting in March of 2007 just a week after we buried our oldest grandson, Grant.  I cannot look at this image without smiling because the measured strokes, the chosen palette and the movement in the composition all reflect his dynamic personality.   He was blessed with Autism and we were blessed with him in our lives.  He painted with me just a few weeks before his death and his last precious work hangs in Stacey and Larry's home. This roll over Horse Painting is painted with Holbein Duo oils on canvas. It lends itself to expressionism with the coloration of favisum along the way.       Behavior Actions always speak louder than words. I do not believe any child hits the age of 18 without that phrase drilled into their head.  One's behavior is testimony to who they are, reflecting how they think by how they act. Holy thoughts cannot exist with corrupt behavior. How many times have y

No 52 2 Abstract Circle Painting by Contemporary Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Caring

No 52 2 Abstract Circle Painting Sold This painting is part of a larger concept piece.  There is something about the unity of circles working together in a composition that is fulfilling for me. Abstract Circles in patterns. For me personally the circle signifies my relationship with God and family. God is in the center of the circle at all times. Continuing out from the center is immediate family and friends and then acquaintances.  My circles of caring. Deep within each of us is

We can be confident in God's promises.  If we take someone in confidence, we must trust them a great deal. Seems like confidence can go two directions.  Obviously there is confidence that leads to over self-confidence and bragging or boasting; secondly there is confidence that leads to an inner self assurance that the Bible describes as boldness.  With God at our sides we can 'boldly' do His work in confidence that the results will be His way through His direction.   With God's assurance we can doing anything we need to do for Him to accomplish what needs to be done.  This confidence come from that same trust.  That huge trust that leaves absolutely no doubt in your mind that His

Spring Princess Finished Horse Painting by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

Spring Princess I finished this last night. I went with a toned down darker background. It was lighter and very chaotic.  I wanted the horse to dominate.  It is not quite as dark as this image shows. The light was not good for the photography end of this.  This is a different approach for me. If you follow my horse paintings, you know I tend to pull toward the abstract.  The painting is finished withe deep sides continuing on with the content of the mane and the horse itself. Thank you Darci at the Double HP Rescue for sharing your horses with me. Don't Give Them the Power Somewhere someone is truly hurting over something from their past or from something recent.  We can be violated by words or actions. The hurt that ensues can be emotional as well as psychological. Actions of people stronger than we are seem to really damage us more and it is common to dwell on the situation with anger and depression feeling unworthy as well as hurt. What you need to know is that person truly does not have power over you. They only have power over you if you al

Before the Storm, Sailboat Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Before the Storm 24 x 30 inches  Oil on Canvas SOLD    © Laurie Pace  Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me: Laurie   Before The Storm? After The Storm? My mom always called it the calm before the storm .   This was to describe that quiet time right before everything breaks loose. I distinctly remember that in connection to the birth of my younger brother. I was 11 when he was born.  It was a Sunday evening in April and the sunset was an eerie color . It was not the normal melting of sky in gorgeous colors of pinks and oranges, but rather a mustardy gold color.  I was playing down the street and we were hanging by the T of one of those old clothes lines... and looked to the west and I felt this sudden chill and said ,"I gotta go home now." and I scampered to my bike and rode home as fast as my legs could pump that old bicycle.   My grandmother was there visiting from St Louis waiting to help my mom out with the new baby that was due to arrive.  My mom was very

This applies to situations in life, to people around us and to many other things besides books.  Often what appears to be is truly what is not.  I am guilty of often seeing a stranger dressed a certain way or acting a certain way and immediately making  a judgment thought in my head.  Definitely not the Christian thing to do and it is not mine to judge or even come close to focusing on.   I am pretty good about not voicing things out loud, but God hears my every thought and I am guilty as charged.  That little inner voice always is quick to line me back up on the right thought road.  Concentrate on giving to others and doing for others. Take care of your own business first.   Remember when vi

Progression on Spring Princess 20 x 30 x 2 inches  Oil on Canvas Available... but in progress...         INNER VOICE I know several days ago I wrote about listening to that inner voice that pipes up when thoughts start rolling through your head and your are trying to make decisions.  Yesterday I loved the way Neale Donald Walsch put it in his email: " On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know... ...that a hunch is angel talk, and probably should not be ignored. Listen to your hunches, pay attention to your intuition, do not dismiss your random thoughts, inspirations or ideas. Heaven talks in snippets, not in speeches. Angels whisper fast. They have to when they're flying around... Honor your Hints from Heaven. They could be giving you the best advice you ever had. " I believe this to be true when I paint as well as in my life daily.   I work and work and think I am done with a painting, but an inner voice says, NO NO NO. You are no

I have think I only missed last year when we moved, so this is either the fourth edition or the fifth edition.  I believe the fifth edition. This year I am doing a hardback book only with better quality paper and beautiful horses inspired by the Father on my canvas. I want to have the book available this summer at my shows. So the day was exhausting working at my computer till almost eleven last night. Church this morning, so this is a short morning blog.  Continue to live with joy today. I know the painting I posted is full of joy...and color... and contrast.  Bring it all into your life. I can't wait to get home from church and paint today! The wild swings of joy and frustration of being age two reminded me that it was a mirror of what we often see in adults.  Night before last I crawled into bed, the last night Lady L would be here this trip...worn but happy.  Terry was in the den with Larry watching the latest episode of Top Gear, a favorite in our household. Stacey had fallen asleep a few hours earlier with
