Yes, you have to be responsible for your actions and your in-actions, but you have a choice on what to spend time on in your mind.  What truly matters in your life right now?   My thoughts are just beginning to wrap around the idea that maybe if I acknowledge the prosperity in my life right now, I can be assured of His simple abundance. I choose to tell mys

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards We were surprised with a Christmas Card from someone dear to us that lives far away.   The image of the kids and the parents smiling for the traditional card made my heart warm and brought a huge smile from Terry when I shared the picture.  I pulled out the 'newsletter' included and began reading about the past year for the two young ones, happily sharing the details with Terry as I read. A first broken bone, speech therapy, basketball, baseball, Playhouse Disney etc.   There was a point my voice broke and I stopped reading.  The tears were falling and the world seemed to turn upside-down.   The youngest son, only age 3, was diagnosed in October with a rare form of kidney cancer, Wilms Tumor .  Terry and I prayed

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards I am not painting yet...but I am sketching left handed.  I sketched out the beginnings of a painting to start yesterday. It is cold outside and it will be cold in my back porch studio. It has windows but not heated and cooled with out help. Terry has several good heaters out there for me to work, but I have to turn them on and start up the heat.    I had decided as I sketched today that the painting would be based on the upcoming Winter Solstice . The new painting is going to pull colors from an earthier palette and I am totally moved by the season and the colors outside my window on the pond. ( I have this feeling that soon you will see other artists painting horses and entitling their pieces "Winter Solstice" but know now,

It will be in the low twenties by tomorrow night.  Me, I hope to finish cleaning up the studio and the rest of the house. I did half of it yesterday....slowly slowly. (he will have a new book out soon!)  I have never had chills and sweats at the same time and no fever. It was pretty harsh. Add in no sleep for three nights and no appetite and you know where I have been.  Mary Jo Zorad had just sent me this wonderful email: (Mother you probably already have this one written down.)  "Remember, happiness comes by living each moment, among all the struggles and problems of life, with an attitude of unshakable inmost happiness, and not by helplessly seeking a happiness that is always jus

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards We were in church yesterday and again I believe that Pastor Pete spoke his words directly to Terry's heart and a family situation we are facing.  The reading was Isaiah 11 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.  The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,    the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—  and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge  by what he sees with his eyes,    or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness  he will judge the needy,    with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike  the earth with the rod of his mouth;  with the breath of his lip

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     Giclees on Canvas, Prints and Cards   The painting I just finished of the guitars was based on the guitars played by the Kings of Leon.   Took some research and then decisions as I painted, but the collector liked the composition of another piece that Morgan and I did together several years ago, so I worked toward that as I painted. Kings of Leon rock the Charts with Gibson and Epiphone.   Here are some of my guitar pieces from 2004-2008 I have played guitar for over 45 years and taught it for 30 years.  I have a 1975 Alverez Classical,  a 2002 Taylor 914 E, and a 2007 Laravee. 2004-2006 I did a series of these in colors and sold about 8 of them at a music store in Dallas.  2007  This is the composition that inspired Kings Of Leon Guitars and it was painte

This brought so much reflection to me yesterday when I read it... it was one of those aha moments in life where you get really quiet and realize the full essence of what you just read.  Enjoy my "The Parable of the Shopper Author unknown  From the Advent Emails from www.biblegateway.com . My feet were tired, my hands cold, my arms exhausted from the weight of the packages, and it was beginning to snow. The bus was late. I kept rearranging my packages, trying to hold them in a different way in order to give my poor arms a rest. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday,

Early Morning our power went out as the storm moved in.  It was after lunch before it went back on and so my day started late....very late.   We drove into Mt Pleasant and had a hot breakfast at IHOP and then to Lowe's to pick up a few things. Arriving back home just after noon, we had heat again...and lights of course.  Until you do with out you cannot appreciate what you have that is something so  simple.  Heat.  Going with out heat last spring in Dallas for over a week with temps in the low twenties was more than enough for me. I will not stay in a home with out heat again. That was horrible...like nightmare horrible.   Times in life are like that. Not everything is good every day, but the choice again is up to us to find the good in that moment
