Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     I have been up for a few hours...but we did sleep in till about 9 this morning.  We actually hiked a little last night.  Jamie called Gretchen Kelly to come join us.   We had lunch outside on Jamie huge second story veranda and then we took two cars and headed up the mountain behind her house. On the winding road up we passed a huge rescue going on.  There are falls on this road and folks do not follow the suggestion of NOT climbing them. Then they climb them and fall. Only one person has survived the fall...the rest died.  We passed no less than 20 rescue vehicles and ambulances.  We drove maybe another miles and again six cars stopped on the road with a beautiful doe in the road, struck in the back area by a car. She was struggling on her front legs to pull up but both back legs were broken.  We

We arrived in Palenville NY around 9 pm last night.  We are up, showered, dressed and heading down stairs for a full breakfast.   We ended up yesterday morning finding out the Cam Sensor was not working on the car. Had we continued driving, the engine would have blown up.  God was truly good as we had stopped at Wendy's and baby car never started again.   They ordered the sensor to be overnighted and it should arrive there today. BUT meanwhile we had to continue north on our journey.   The Enterprise Rental in Christiansburg had three cars.  A tiny yellow something, a paneled cargo van and a Dodge Calibar.  We went with teh Calibar.  About 25% smaller than the Passat and no trunk or luggage room.  Terry figured out had to cram everythin

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 I am actually blogging on Wednesday night and will post it automatically tomorrow morning as you read this.   We made an error and filled up with fuel at a station that obvious did not have good fuel.  We made it about an hour or so from there and the car stopped.  We were in the middle of nowhere in Dublin, VA.  After two hours of patience we tracked down a tow truck and were towed to Blacksburg to THE BUG SHOP.   That is where the car is now. The tow truck driver was very nice and dropped us off at the Marriett where we await word of the car.  Not sure of alternate plans.  God's hand is in this because there was a huge wreck on the 81, the highway we were on.  The weather today was HORRIBLE, treacherous, and dangerous. Rain, rain and more rain made it difficult to see and truckers were literally doing over 85 mph in the

Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     We slept well last night but tired thoughts linger before we get on the road in a few moments. Thought I would have to go buy a hair brush.  LAST trip to NY I forgot my hairbrush.  Must be something psychological about this.  But in the middle of the night I did one of those Sesame Street things were I though back over all my motions before we left and found it this morning.   We spent the night in Cookeville TN at a brand new Marriott Fairfield Inn. New rooms and beds never used before. That does not happen very often.  Not sure what our stop over will be tonight...but it will probably be in Pennsylvania. Made the mistake of eating at Cracker Barrel.  We won't do that again on this trip. TOO rich. Our diets have changed so much and that was way rich.  I had two eggs and part of a pan

So hopefully we will make Tennessee tonight... Memphis or Nashville.  I would love to make Cookeville but don't know if we will make it that far.   So this will be updated every morning before we leave and cover what we see along the way. Kimberly Conrad is meeting us in Palenville NY and Terry and I will be staying with a fellow Daily painters from that area.  I am looking forward to the auction on Friday night to see what all the artwork looks like .... and then photographing the horses in the arena.  Laurie   “Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he w

It truly evolved from the original first layers and even with the changes as they occurred I trusted Him for the outcome.  I had my occasional doubts, but the final piece is truly breathtaking in person.  It made me brave and yesterday I took another one that I have posted before and did the same process with it and you will see it tomorrow. This one ships out on Tuesday going east...southeast. Terry is taking it off the stretchers for shipping. Preparation is always important in life. Sometimes we get so caught up in the preparation, we forget to let things happen naturally.  Life has a flow to it. When we stop it up and build damns and levees and irrigate things... we divert the natural flow of life.  Paintings are the same way.

Morgan is headed out from Lewisville to help Terry with yard work and our beach area to the pond.  We cannot burn anything due to the burn ban but Terry has his new chain saw to put into action. Yesterday I mentioned a quote from Ben, the one about "You can get glad just as fast as you get sad/mad."  The more I thought about it, I wondered what exactly does it take to get your spirit to soar and rebound from the sad or mad.  Each of us has a spiritual strength woven through out our being. It must be this force that is able to uplift us in the darkest times. It is this same spirit that supports us when we extend ourselves out past that line o

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   www.CFAIntl.com I read somewhere in the past few days that making the right decision is not always the easy decision and often not the decision we want to make. I don't think I have written about this, but I have meditated over it for several weeks. I think it was in a fictional book by Lauraine Snelling. "Ellie" I have most of her books and am rereading this summer the entire series. Silly example of 'curbing' ones need to do what one wants to do instead of what one should do, was last night.  The surveyor was here helping us find our missing stake to mark the southwest boundary of our land.  I was really wanting to walk along and watch as they found the markers and ran the line.  I have this huge desire to learn about new things... OR is it I just want to be there to be th
