Life is delighted to bring you The Unexpected. Are you delighted to receive it?   Indeed, belief in the coming of The Unexpected is the genesis of hope. How can you hope for anything breathtaking or exciting if you can only hope for the already expected? Therefore, you must always think that anything can happen. Form your ideas and your dreams within that framework!  Remember, God specializes in The Unexpected ."  Neale Donald Walsch   Oh my gosh, did this one hit me

Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website   Painted Ponies     The teasing weather man hinted at a cold front coming through. I think that is down right mean.  The forecast shows a four degree drop in temperature next week to put us at 97-99 instead of 104-107. You cannot possibly understand but north Texas is not this hot. We get maybe 6-10 sporadic days at 100 through out the entire summer.  I lost count many weeks ago.  Hard to figure as we went from Texas winter to Summer with out spring.   So today I have to write about discovering what is really here and allowing it to contribute as  a blessing in my life.  That would include the 104 degree weather predicted for today. Are you at ease in your life with what God has provided for you? That could include your home, husband, family, job, friends, hobbies, etc. What is 'yours' that

Uncle Charles and Aunt Barbara live in Denver.    My mind is racing around getting paintings ready to carry up to the Mirada Gallery and finishing up and shipping commissions pieces that are here ready to go... and then making plans for Paddy, the house the watering etc.   Vicky will be busy! Don't forget washing and packing and of course cleaning the house entirely before leaving.  Why do we do this? Often just the thought of 'getting out of Dodge' makes us feel unbounded by respo

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     Painted Ponies    Morning has broken with reflections of yesterday and our trip.   The first word that came to mind as we drove north/northwest was the word obstacles. Driving up to Bogota from Mt Vernon is about 25 miles from our place. We then turn northwest toward Paris Texas.  That is where it came to mind.  Two lane road with speed limit of 70.  We are behind a truck pulling a very very large red combine on a trailer.  He kept trying to pull partially off on the side of the road but oncoming traffic was too thick to chance it.  We got around him finally and then we encountered someone's new house ( Modular home) being trucked up Hwy 271.  Not only did you have the truck pulling the long trailer bed with the house on it..(It had a pretty green roof and shutters) you had a follow truck with blin

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Blog My Website     Painted Ponies        This is a short blog this morning.  We slept in a bit and are going to go visit my Dad this morning. Yesterday afternoon there came dark clouds, a sprinkle of rain and by 6:30 it was only 75 degrees outside.  We took Paddy for a walk and enjoyed every single step.  Many folks were out in the lake boating in the light sprinkles... we were enjoying the view walking. It is times like this I walk in wonderment of all of nature around us. The simple beauty on a summer eve with a light drizzle and a break from 107 degree heat. Each day there are gifts God has put out for us to find along the way. Often we are way busy with our minds going in other directions and we actually miss moments of life. They are slipping right by us.  I challen

I cannot believe I worked until eleven last night and I am up at six a.m. Not sure where the days go. Yesterday we went to Mt. Pleasant with the truck. I followed in my Passat.  Mr Truck is back from the "Put the bumper back on - fix the dent in the fender - replace the broken windshield -replace the shattered side-mirror place" and now at the interior repair shop.  This brought back memories of my grandmother and mother helping my brother restore the seats and interior on his bug eye Sprite.  The beauty of all of their sewing finished out a gorgeous car.  This shop brought back all those memories.  Alan Braddock Interiors .   It is an old-fashioned shop in the middle of Mt Pleasant that was started back i

'Some in the Dusk' 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas Just painted and SOLD! Contact me for commission work. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website   I have to share the story of early this morning.   The dog was up and down all night with allergies...skin broken out and massive scratching. We did not go to bed until after midnight trying to rub tea tree oil on his skin.  About four in the morning something went crash outside the bedroom window.  The dog woke up, Terry work up and I was awake but not out of bed. I wanted to sleep.  Terry took Paddy outside and immediately the scared dog took off into the dark. Not a normal move for the dog. He is usually hiding out behind Terry's legs.    Terry rambled back in and found his flashlight to look for the dog.   Still barefoot, he carefully followed the patio walk toward the hot tub shining his little mag light in the night.  (It is really dark out here)  As he stealthily tiptoed in

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 I was so ready to be out of the office last night at eight. I had been in the office since 6:30 yesterday morning... but the effort brought about the birth of a new website, actually two...but one is not done yet. This was something that actually took about 48 hours almost in a row. The first one was to revamp the site www.ContemporaryFineArtInternational.com .      This is a site owned by Kimberly Conrad out of Colorado.  She, Diane Whitehead , Judy Mackey , Mary Jo Zorad, Pam Van Londen , Amy Tuso and I have all been laboring over putting together state daily painting blogs.  The result was to combine into a site Kim started last year and go full tilt. It will take weeks and months to get everything fully up and running, but there is much to see.  To find all the state artists, you will

Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 Terry came blowing through the door late yesterday afternoon, dripping wet and full of grass, sweat and tears.   Probably could add mosquitoes, ticks and other various things as well.   "I would rather wash my truck." he bellowed as he grabbed some old towels. He had been outside giving Paddy a bath and a hair cut. For two and a half hours.  Who would have thought one mid sized dog could cause so much ruckus?  Personally I would have bathed him in the walk-in shower, but living out here in the country, critters seem to jump on other larger critters for faster transportation or for a food snack.  I am out on that so bathing Paddy is on Terry's agenda list. About an hour later I walked out of the the office to get some water and both of them were back in the house.   The dog is literally jumping aro

Beginnings of Four Abreast 30 x 40  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 My Website     On Golden Pond Blog The beginning of a painting is always a hesitation.   The drawing is not.... is usually flows from the charcoal to the canvas and then I step back to see what I have done. God must have paused on and off often to see what His different creations looked like from a step back. Do we do that in life too?  The part about jumping in and doing and then hesitating and stepping back?  I can honestly say on this painting I prayed over it before I began.   Even then the hesitation was there because I was doubting myself, not doubting God.    Prayer first and action second. It saves a lot of time. Laurie Behold the beauty of the Lord.--Psalm 27:4

I realized late last night my blog did not post yesterday. It did, but it did late.   If you missed it, scroll down because the new painting is one of my favorites! New style and new approach. Yesterday when I worked on this one, I had another one on the second easel.   I worked on it too. Yesterday was an 18 hour paint day.  I am tired still this morning.  The second canvas was scrapped twice.  My record is three times, but I have a ton of paint scrapped off that must go into other paintings.  I do not waste paint ever.  Some of my best pieces are from scrapped paint. I can only hear God chuckling over that one. Some of His best ma
