The Violinist Contemporary Art Mixed Medium Music Painting by Texas Aritst Laurie Pace

'The Violinist' 15 x 30  Mixed Medium on Canvas  Another stunning music piece.  This one is a violinist of the gentlest kind. The music is from Great Grand-daddy Haskell's collection. Yet for me they are even better: the ease of the melody sliding and swiftly moving, out plays the ability of the human voice.  There is no way the human voice could match the dancing tones and levels of the strings of the violin in motion. God's grace is the sweet melody offered to each of us.   It emulates His strength and power in every note.  Our lives are so

Part of being an artist is the need to explore and try out other approaches to representing things on canvas.  It needs to be original as well as part of who I am and the spirit within me. Here are the links to the Appaloosa Website to see my art work. The Magazine is out in print as well.  Cover and front INSIDE the Site Life at the Lake:  RAIN RAIN AND MORE RAIN.   I painted all day yesterday, still catching up from being gone. I would again have preferred to play. Terry is playing. He was modeling all day long.  And I mean all day long.  He is in charge of cooking and cleaning, but we did not eat until dinner time.   Our day adventures found us heading in for groceries around 3 pm so he

A totally different approach to the canvas and I will have to watch and see what feel comes from it with the next one.  I think I will be painting more on this one... so stay tuned. Life at the Lake:  Terry spent the day yesterday mowing and mowing and mowing some more.   I did pick two tomatoes from one of the tomato bushes and Vicky gave us some more squash from her garden.  I wanted to go out on the lake yesterday afternoon but I had to work. The Thought:    “What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything

Slide show is off now!  Had to remove it with the music! The Thought: It was a beautiful wedding and you will have to wait for a fuller slide show. Most of these were taken by Auntie Shannon, Tink's godmother, before the bride even arrived at the country club... or the guests for that matter.  New beginnings with a new marriage, a new life, a new family. Saturday is filled with the Bridesmaid luncheon and the rehearsal dinner . We will mainly be on the road most of the time driving from here...50 miles to there 25 miles and back there 50 miles. The luncheon is at a place called the CHOCOLATE ANGEL.   Not sure what to expect. Folks that have already lunched there said, 'Don't get exc

If you drive down Ross Ave before you get to Greenville...you can see it in the office from the street.   The Thought: I am blogging at odd times with this wedding happening... so I am blogging on Friday for Saturday morning. The Barbecue was so nice on Thursday night. Tara's parents live in Castle Hills Golf Club area and it is so beautiful, it does not look like Dallas at all. You can tell from my painting above, most of Dallas was flat prairie cotton fields.... but there are those spots in the area with deep hills and massive old tress. Oak Cliff has some areas, one called Kessler Park.  Castle Hills is north off of hwy 121 past Lewisville.  It

The Thought:  Dallas has not changed much.  We are staying at my mom's for the first two days of our trip and then with Morgan the last two days.  My thoughts will be brief with so much going on with the wedding and all the places we have to be at the assigned times...so worn out is the best description!   This weekend is birthday weekend for Crystal... and then next week for Mom and Terry and Vicky...so much to do ... on top of the wedding. I will try to add to this blog through out the day when time allows, so you will have to just stay tuned! Can you hear me singing? Life at the Lake:  We are in the countdown mode for leaving this morning for Dallas and the big wedding.   Vicky should be here by nine and we should be on the road after that.  Tonight is the Barbecue at Tara's parents home... tomorrow will be filled with shoe shopping, getting nails done etc. Saturday is the Bridesmaid luncheon and Sunday evening the wedding.  I will be missing the quiet of our little pond and home. I have not done portrait type work in awhile so this is a wonderful painting exercise. Too much fleshing yellows so I have to overlay some reds and blues and purples with some raw umber mixed in. Here is my photo I am working from. I have a ways to go, and Debbie, No no no to this green gunk in the background... ??? WHAT??? Life at the Lake:   Was watching it rain, be cooler, have strong winds, pick up big falling tree branches... painting, washing, more painting and making homemade soup and cornbread. Life at the Lake:  Nothing more but  a trip to Winnsboro to the Friends & Co for a hair cut... and then... tada.... The n ew thing is internet and streaming NETFLIX on our Wii.   Terry loves 24 hours a  day movies on demand.  I have to remind him of sleeping too. Oh, and don't forget about the Lake outside.  Actually he mowed the rest of the lawn yesterday.  It is an acre and a half and the riding mower is needing a new tire. The Thought:   Streaming NETFLIX, oh my gosh, what more could anyone want?   Well, I am not a movie/tv watcher, so I could list a bunch ahead of this, but your typical citizen around here would be glued to the set with a mini refrig and microwave hooked up
