Three in a Dream Equine abstract Art Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Three in a Dream' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas SOLD FROM THE BLOG! Thank you. Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This was unusual as it painted out but I fell in love with it! Email me if it tugs at your heart and mention the name of the painting. The Thought:  Purple Barns.  We saw two purple barns on the way back from Bonham yesterday.  We drove one route up to Bonham through Commerce and Bailey but there as so much road construction we came home through Paris and Bogata.  Made much better time that way (altho mileage was longer) the roads were wonderful and very little traffic. On the way home is when I spotted the purple barns.  I truly have never seen anyone paint a barn purple before... a dark lavender purple, like the sky is at night. The ends of the barns were light forest green.  Had there been black and white cows I would have stopped to take a picture...but we were going about 70

Springing Free Equine Oil Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Springing Free' 9 x 12  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Soft oils and  wide brush.. The Thought: I think it must have rained for 48 hours.  The pond is full, the trees are green and it is good to be home.   My thoughts revolve around several things this morning and one is praying for a friend.  We have very similar prayer needs and we both believe we clearly know what we need in our situations to fix them.  But do we?  From our human viewpoint, we see what would clearly be the answer, but so far it is not happening for either of our situations.  It is so obvious that there is nothing else that could possibly happen to resolve the situation, except our concept of "the answer".    Sometimes this sets up an "uh oh" for me as it means my way is not His way and His way is not the easiest way all the time for me.  Those that know me, know I like the long

Out of the Canyon Abstract Equine Art Painted Pony Pull by Contemporary Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Out of the Canyon' 24 x 36  Acrylic on Canvas SOLD COMMISSION Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: This just was finished two days ago and is in Dallas at the Dutch Art Gallery being framed for the collector.   The Thought: As I reflect on yesterday and the long trip into Dallas and our over-stuffed day... I get tired thinking about it and I have had some sleep last night. More travel in the next few days as well... What did I learn yesterday? That another family must have died in a wreck on I30 traveling east into Dallas. There were five new white crosses with names and flowers on the right side of the road going into Sulphur Springs.   Terry and I prayed together as we saw the new crosses and I could only read one name as we whizzed by at 65...it was a little boys name on the cross.  This accident wiped out an entire family. Made us stop and think how this custom has grown

The two links below are pages 1-4 of the inside story of my art.  The Thought:  There are these situations in life that you never think about because if you did, you would dread them.  Literally dread.  Some are actually those life or death things and  you truly never know how you are going to react when they happen .   Thinking back to my Camp Fire Girl training and the common sense my parents instilled in me,  it is not the wisest thing to be out on the lake in a sailboat in a rainstorm with thunder and lightening.   Terry and I took the sailboat out in lat

SugarJacks A Girl's Best Friend Equine Cowgirl Art by Daily Painter Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Sugar Jacks A Girl's Best Friend' 16 x 20  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:    I was asked to repost this painting for the cowgirl in the picture...she has been caring for her hubby and has not had normal computer time. The Thought:   I was finishing up the book EAT PRAY LOVE last night and came across this thought.  Smile to make your liver feel better.  The point was you don't have to do YOGA and do twisted positions and sit until you hurt, you simply have to show gratitude and share it with a smile.  Sit smiling and mediate on all you are grateful for.  Smile during the day. It will make you feel better. So I told my friend Kim that we were going to smile (Even through gritted teeth) this week so our 'livers' would feel better and see if that would help the rest of our body.   EAT PRAY LOVE has been an interesting book in many ways as it definitely t

Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This painting developed and went wild as I built the layers higher and higher adding the Spots to my girls! The Thought: They spoke on grace and blessings at church yesterday.  I know I write about that often.  But when I thought about it today, it is His Grace that is ours as we face so many challenges. He is there with us... and from each of those challenges comes blessings.  There is the Breakfast Club Sunday School group that goes to the local cafe for Sunday breakfast and it was here the discussion continued on the sermon today.  " Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for f

Into the Sun Contemporary Equine Art Horse Oil Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Into the Sun' 24 x 36 inches  Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: I was trying a larger version of a prior painting and still working on it touching up there and there...but it is available. All thick oils and a palette knife. The Thought: Last night Paddy was nose to the window under the closed blind around 7:30 pm.  I was busy at the kitchen table signing 300 posters for the Appaloosa Horse Show in Jackson Mississippi opening in about 10 days.... and heard him growling. I walked around the table gently nudging him away from the window as I flipped up one of the blinds to peak outside.   The sun was setting on the lake making it a silver shimmer of beauty reflecting the gold rays of late day.  Next to the house between us and the lake was a herd of deer just grazing away and wagging their little tails.  No wonder the dog was going berserk.  He was struggling to get p

Santa Fe One Abstract Equine Art Horse Painting Daily by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Santa Fe One' 30 x 40  Acrylic on Canvas SOLD  Painted in 2007 but sold this spring 2010 to a new collector in China through the Red Tree Gallery. Contact me for commission work. Laurie    © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Had to repost this beauty. I will be revisiting this style this week.  It is fascinating to work with so many of the acrylic additives and subtractives.  I was thrilled when Santa Fe Shipped to Shanghai two months ago. The Thought:  Turtle Races. The first thing that probably comes to your mind is the tortoise and the hare.  Close but of course not where I am going. I have learned by experience when I feed the fish, the turtles come.... their little heads peeping up over the surface of the water like a submarine slicing through the water.. .but the body is more cumbersome and more round than a submarine. Proven fact, they move faster in water than on dry land. Both the turtles and the submarines. I just g

Late Sunset Sailboat Painting Lake Water Art by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Late Sunset ' 6 x 6 Oil on Panel Contact the Dutch Art Gallery  PAM   Contact me for commission work. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This piece is framed at the Dutch art Gallery and is a gorgeous idea for Father's Day. The Thought:   Not much yet this morning. Terry and I enjoyed feeding the fish together last night, throwing food out into the lake.  We watched turtles and fish both scamper after the treats. Life is full right now and seems busier than ever....and it is suppose to be retirement.  We did not get to sail today but hopefully tomorrow.  I was doing computer stuff most of the day creating collector books for my commission work. I leave you with PEACE in your heart...gather your joys today and give thanks to God.  He is good all the time, and He has you wrapped in His care.  To your own self be true. A man's character is based on their actions and their heart.  Honesty and truth is a strong reflecti

Dancing in Color Abstract Equine Art Oil Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

'Dancing in Color' 18 x 24  Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for commission work. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting: Had to archive today... was not here to paint, but my canvas arrived this afternoon!!! YEAH!!!  Canvas comes from Rupen at www.canvasplace.com He has absolutely the best smooth surface canvas I have painted on. You have to ask for smooth surface.  His toothy is okay but I LOVE his smooth surface.  His canvas is well built and extremely sturdy. Never in 7 years have I had a canvas warp. NEVER. The Thought:  The Definition of Responsibility is..... ta da..... to respond. T he word has many of definitions, but I sort of like this one. In my brain to be responsible takes responding. Right? A Thesaurus definition says: An act or course of action that is demanded of one, as by position, custom, law, or religion: To have an act or course of action is to respond.   Today I was finally on board the cat sailing.  Can&

'At the Ocean' Child portrait on the Beach by Texas Artist Laurie Justus Pace

'At the Ocean' 24 x 36  Oil on Canvas Available through the Dutch Art Gallery. Contact Pam . For commissions, contact me. Laurie     © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  I posted this last month.  I didn't paint the past two days. Terry took everyone sailing yesterday but me... but I still didn't get to paint.  I did get to enjoy the company of his dearest cousins and I learned how to play a new domino game. The Thought:   My thoughts are on disappointments this morning as this is something that touched my life recently.   Plans never seem to flow as we plan them, only as God wants them to go.  Although I do believe the humans in our lives affect some of that flow with their choices. Often those choices affect us. When the disappointment hit me, it was after something was promised that was not delivered. There was a logical reason for it, but that didn't lesson the disappointment. It hurt at first and anger boiled up and I ha

Organic Horse 3 Abstract Equine Art Horse Daily Painting by Texas Aritst Laurie Pace

'Organic Horse 3' SOLD Contact me to purchase by check or paypal. Laurie   © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2010 The Painting:  This is a partial picture from a larger one.. but is sold this weekend. The Thought:  God Made Little Green Frogs In Coffee Cups That is a true statement. God did make little green frogs in coffee cups.   When I was cleaning off the kitchen counter and picking up a coffee cup to put in the dishwasher, low and behold there was this little green frog.  This cup had not been outside...only on the counter by the kitchen sink. Where did the frog come from? I know where the frog ended up! Those little unplanned things in life are humorous.  God definitely has a sense of humor.  If you think of what is humorous ( Terry loves the Three Stooges), it is usually something unexpected, incongruous and preposterous.  As a child many of us laughed at clowns, learning from an early age that these colorful costumed, face-painted peo
