STANDING GROUND Contemporary Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD A huge warm hello from Jackson following 8 GREAT hours of sleep. Despite the move to the third floor yesterday, packing and unpacking again, we have to keep spraying the room as it is obvious a mouse died in the walls somewhere. Do not get me wrong, this is an expensive exclusive place with four or five stars here in Jackson, the new Best Western....and there were literally no other rooms left. We have enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace and toasting our toes in the 45 degree temps this morning; also enjoyed the huge jetted tub in the bathroom and are heading out to Jebadiah's Sourdough Restaurant this morning for breakfast. Downstairs they do offer eggs, sausage and brick like potato bites...we are opting to go out. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUSBAND TODAY!!!! Yesterday exploring we discovered a fabulous gallery. We visited several yesterday, but the HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR is unbelievable
Dance of The Veils Two Contemporary Oil Painting of a Dancer by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x24 inches Inquiries: Laurie At last a short moment to blog. We didn't sleep much last night. Seems that a production company was inhabiting the rooms around us and they worked through the night. NO ONE answered at the desk, but believe me they heard from us this morning. I was in the hall at three a.m. begging them to please shut their doors and allow some of us to sleep. We have had breakfast and are heading into town to walk a bit this morning. We are also changing rooms this morning...up to the third floor. Maybe we will sleep tonight. I hope we sleep somewhere soon.... We stopped by the gallery yesterday. Half of the work is hung. I will take pictures today when we stop in! More to come. We continue to grasp tightly to the Lord and know we are where we are suppose to be and the journey is for a reason. In His time it will be known. I am so grateful to have my supportive loving husband to
Sweet Summer Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Inquiries: Laurie Short blog, we have to hit the road... want to say we slept in, but this Best Western was not the quietest place to stay. Terry is up and looking for coffee and ready to load the car. We did have one highlight here in Laramie; We ate at a restaurant called Jeffrey's Bistro. OH MY GOSH...it was fabulous. Website is www.jeffreysbistro.com. We were literally driving around town hungry and lost. Terry took a sudden right turn and I finally said, lets ask this man where to eat. He turned out to be a professor from the University of Wyoming. He has lived here 40 years. WONDERFUL man, Peter Shieves and his wife Gail. He said she is an artist as well and recognized for her purse series, Screaming Women. I have not had time to google this yet, so you get to do it before me. As I lay awake early this morning to the noisy air conditioner and pounding neighbors, I found myself in Prayer. Th
THROUGH THE FIRE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 inches Inquiries: Laurie We are in Amarillo. We made it in time for a glass of wine at the "Happy Hour" and then hit the indoor pool and swam for about 30 minutes. After a hot shower we ate left over Buffalo burgers Terry made at home last night, fresh cut up fruit and left over corn on the cob. We traveled with our Oxygen Pillows and yes, we both slept like logs...no neck aches or shoulder aches and after 8 hours in the car...that says a lot! Our trip out of town yesterday was slow. We finished packing up the car about ten thirty, made a stop at the post office and then stopped to visit my dad, who is in respite care. We left Dallas at 12:30 and headed north to Denton and then North west to Amarillo. Next stop today will be Denver to see Uncle Charles and Aunt Barbara; Thursday we will drive from there into Jackson. Morgan was settled into the house and the dogs were happy he was there. The plants inside
THE FIVE Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Commissioned Painting SOLD This enticing piece is going to live in Dubai and later travel on to Europe. With my departure for Jackson this morning, I painted yesterday afternoon and this morning to finish it up. A desire for five beauties in this piece, there is a marigold horse in the background along with a turquoise horse. Morgan is here and the dogs are in DOG HEAVEN. He spoils them rotten. Terry is still asleep and I am finishing up my clean up here in the studio and closing down my stuff. I will travel with my baby Mac and will try to keep you abreast of the trip. I think we will only travel as far as Amarillo today and stay at the ASHMORE INN . This hotel is UNBELIEVABLE. They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. I think that is why we stay here and never push on to Duhmus, Texas. Then tomorrow we will travel on to Denver and visit and stay with Uncle Charlie and Aunt Barbara. They live on the
LONGHORN SUMMER SOLD Monday...WE ARE PACKING TODAY and Morgan is moving in for the next week. He is the best house sitter with the dogs. Our dogs are not the friendliest dogs to strangers. We taught them well on stranger danger. In my head I am compiling one thousand things to be done today. The other side of my brain is in prayer saying, GIVE IT TO GOD. One thing at a time and we will get to where we are suppose to be. Yesterday I spent the day in the studio tying up last ends and cleaning up. Still have to mop the floors. I have wash going, already cleaned out the pantry for traveling food...we are heading to Whole Foods for last minute travel things and water and then we may take on the washing of the dogs. They are pretty dirty and I could not get them in at the groomer. I do not know if I will be able to blog every day when we are on the road. Most places do have internet but if it takes any thinking other than turning on the computer I struggle. In fact I need to add to the
FLOWER PICKERS Child Contemporary Art Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Sunday dawns and I truly hesitate not to get tangled in knots realizing what lies ahead for the day. I have eight paintings to pack, which follows Thursday's packing of 15 for the show in Jackson.... and I am working on two easels today. Only peace through the Lord will restore my calm. Yesterday Stacey and I went shopping. We were hunting some maternity clothes for her and I was looking for something to wear next Saturday night for the opening. I had discovered a store on the walks out at North Park.... PINTO RANCH , managed by Susan Campbell. It is a delightful store, filled with beautiful designer clothes for both men and women with that great western flair. They also carry hand made boots, hats and little surprises for the kids. I bought the new grandbaby TINK a full set of Soft Barn Animals. Yes it was an impulse buy. We continued on in search of maternity and finally found somethings to tide S
Orchids Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 11 x 14 Oil on Linen Panel SOLD Inquiries: Laurie Cleaning out the studio yesterday was quite a chore. I will box some shipments today and then clean the floors...they are brick. The dogs sort of live in here with me too, it is a huge area about 24 x 24 and they do get to get out into the house, but when I am in here, they are too, so it gets dirty. My grandmother always told me Cleanliness is next to Godliness. I do feel better when it is clean in here... always excited about painting in a clean area so I can mess it up again. Cleanliness is a comfort in a way to me and it gives me hope...it lifts my spirits. When things pile up and get cluttered, so does my mind. Life seems to clutter up all of our minds with so much activity and business. It is too early and dark to go exploring but there is a book I uncovered that mom was reading while she was here entitled Preparing for Tomorrow, or something like that. Of course it was written ba
IN HER FATHER'S ARMS American Indian Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 framed Oil For Inquiries: The Rare Gallery Jackson, Wyoming or Laurie Sometimes when the spirit is in there working I sit back in amazement at the results. This is one of those pieces. It is an older painting that I am just now releasing and it will travel to Jackson for the show on the 12th. The child's face is mesmerizing. Totally the work of the Lord. This was painted to represent that time in your life when God carries you. There are the times we are so worn out and so tired He has to carry us through the pain. The trick is learning to relax and let Him do the work. Don't try so hard, don't work so hard, don't wear yourself out...remember to live today and live in His love and find the Joy. Grace, Laurie “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.” Psalm 33:12
Lady in Blue Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches SOLD Inquiries: Laurie It was a short night. Terry decided to watch a movie and it was one before I fell asleep. Then he was back up at four and decisively woke me up... So today I will be operating on three hours of sleep. May not be my best day today. Yesterday found mom and at the hairdresser for her hair cut and nails. I had some highlights put in...then off to see the house on Park Lane with my work in it. That huge painting that was 4 ft by 12 ft is hanging on the back wall and the conductor is to the left. Pretty cool to see the whole house. I have six or seven paintings there. Today be a powerful expression of good. Your life should be fulfilling to you and you should seek your joy. You are in the right place, you don't need to go anywhere....look around, be still and listen....can you hear His call? Your joy is there at your fingertips. Grace, Laurie "When anxiety was great within me, your con
EXPLORING Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Inquiries: Laurie PAINT PAINT PAINT. That is what I will be doing in less than ten minutes. PAINT PAINT PAINT. Yesterday I have an old high school friend visit and she painted. I have not had time to download the camera but will do it for the blog tomorrow. Also yesterday we chased Paddy around the neighborhood. Ticked me off because we took him for a two mile walk in the early hours and he still went out the gate. Of course it didn't help Terry left the gate open while he was watering. Trying to find the dog is always a challenge as they are so unpredictable on direction. Terry took off in his big dodge truck, I was in the Passat with the puttering diesel engine...mom and Bill were in his VW and Kirk in his Nissan. The key is to listen for barking dogs. Usually that can help find him. I took the alley paths. Where we live we have nice paved alleys and thankfully he tends to like them as he does not understand
BLUES Blue Tree by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission For inquiries: Laurie Just in from walking two miles in the heat with the dogs this morning. We thought we got out while it was cool, but we both have to shower...it was not. The dogs didn't seem to mind though. Perhaps that is what we need to do in our lives when things are not right, or they are upside down or inside out.... is not to make a decision about anything. Decide to not decide. I know on occasion Terry and I have to agree to disagree and drop it. So when something is staring at you in the face, make the sound decision to not decide right now. It is a winning situation because it gives God time to work. Neal Donald Walsch tells us today, "Stop worrying about what you can "lose" or how you can "win" and just follow your joy. Where does your joy say you should go?" Grace, Laurie " If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and
