AFTERNOON SHOWER Watercolor by Laurie Pace SOLD I am blogging swiftly so I can get to my easel. Yesterday was NOT a productive painting day! Hopefully today I can get into an earlier pace. HOUSE UPDATE: I am still dancing the happy dance that my bathroom light switch works now. I no longer have to screw a bulb in and out to have light! Terry installed a new faucet in our sink in the Master Bath and YEAH it works. Before water trickled out with not even enough to wet your tooth brush. This is a strange house but it is coming around! On the diet side I continue to hear from folks that love weight watchers and those that like South Beach. My daughter does Weight Watchers, but lives on TV dinners. I cannot do that. I am a fresh food freak that prefers everything to be natural. RARELY anything from a can, and if it does, it has less than five ingredients. I truly like the RICE Diet, but my life is too complicated to have to think! I walked 8000 steps yesterday and did my tummy h
EXPLOSIVE FURY Contemporary Modern Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD I am surrounding by a huge pile of TO DO's on my desk. Not sure if painting or cleaning comes first! I decided to do the blog first. THEN jump in and paint. Then I will clean off my desk. I am trying to get organized. This is an explosive painting that evolved this weekend. I finished it up last night. Colors pulling in the down direction created a mighty force on the surface. I was working also on a small commission piece of a little one (Dog) named Sugar. I almost have Sugar finished too. My next commission piece is of a young girl playing in an orchestra at the Meyerson. Her Mom sent me pics from home but the ones from actually being on stage are unbelievable. Terry's cousin Sandra came to visit yesterday. We worked in the plants out in the garden room for most of the day. I prepared pasta and meat sauce with fresh salad and hot bread with cheese, tomatoes and garlic on it! Yummm. Leftov
Magnificent Four Modern Contemporary Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Foggy, cool, wet and early. I thought it was suppose to get cold but it didn't. Terry is painting edges on my finished work, I am blogging and the back door is wide open for the dogs to wander through in and out. I can hear a jet flying overhead, but it truly in the dark is not much different than the country. Where we live in Dallas is very quiet. Well, quiet until seven thirty. There is a wonderful elementary school one block away...and the kids begin to arrive....and then the bells begin to ring. Memories. My little brother went to this school. I went to another one about three miles from here. This painting is in my new series, COLORS of WYOMING. Action packed with movement and color I am trying to capture the energy of the horses. Not much compares to their beauty when they are running...so fluid and so graceful, the stocky body on the thin legs!
SPIRIT OF THE SNAKE RIVER Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches of THICK PAINT on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Monday is here...cloudy but suppose to go up to 70 degrees today. Packing and shipping are a priority but so are many other things. I will be split about five directions at least! I posted this and realized some folks may not understand the painting. I first was pulling the landscape of the Snake river from Photos from our Wyoming Trip. But then I saw the horse with in.... Do you see it? It is the spirit of the Snake River...think of how many horses have cross that river over all the many years it has been in existence. Saw a billboard last night on the way to pick up an OLD FASHIONED HAMBURGER about six last night. "FAILURE IS NOT FALLING DOWN, FAILURE IS FALLING DOWN AND NOT GETTING UP." Definitely food for thought today. Screwing things up is normal for the human race. All of us have that built in knack of messing up by the day. A
Peonies in Cream Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for pricing through email: Laurie Sunday dawns...the heat is on. Reminds me of the Christmas Story with the BB gun thing. The family has the heater in the basement that the dad is always tinkering on.... Brother Kirk heard the bearing that rattles...then Terry came home and did something with a brick. It is running and I have heat. I will not question this miracle. I am late to the easel and so much to do on canvas. Itching to paint and see what evolves this morning. Life is such, floating along and evolve with what God places in your life. Stacey phoned this morning to share the sad news that she had to rush my grand dog, Gabbie to the ER Vet. Gabbie ate two pounds of chocolate.... she is a miniature schnauzer. Need I say more? We have her in prayer this morning as they await news. Hoping your Sunday is filled with His Grace. I will pray for all of you as you face so much in your lives w
QUILT AT NANIE'S HOUSE Impressions by Laurie Justus Pace 5 x 7 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing. Email: Laurie Remember when? I remember playing under the quilting group at church where my grandmother would quilt. I remember running and playing in the wash at my Aunt Marie's house when my grandmother and I would hang wash and I thought it ever so much fun to run between the sheets hanging double and triple rowed across the backyard. Days of no responsibility and all discovery. God wants us to be like a child in our faith. Run through those sheets in feel his love and the warmth of the sun! I could use that warmth today. It is six thirty a.m. and the old heater which should have been replaced last week just died. There was a loud rackety rack noise as if the fan blades where speeding up and slowing down, like a shifting of gears.... a clatter and vibrations. I just left the blog and computer and threw off the switch next to it listening to it gravel
Catching Minnows ~ Figurative Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for Pricing Email: Laurie The dog is watching the minnows, the boy is desperately trying to catch them...but they are elusive. Reminds me of life. We watch what is going on and see things we want to "Catch" or be a part of. Often it is not part of God's overall plan for our lives and I think we end up frustrating ourselves by trying to grasp onto things that will never be ours. Pray for the wisdom to know when to wade in the water. Timing is everything....that is a GOD THING! Yesterday morning early found me painting. I finished up one that I will post on Sunday most likely. It truly makes me catch my breath when I hit the studio and see it on the easel. I hope it finds a warm wonderful home. It is large, 24 x 36 and of course one of my equine paintings. Mom phoned early yesterday. We decided we would go visit Cousins' Pianos over in Garland as I
NOT A STEP CLOSER Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace Oil on Canvas 24 x 24 Contact me for pricing or commission work. SOLD Okay so I forgot yesterday. A lot going on! MORGAN did get a full time sub position with Nothwest ISD as a special Ed teacher at Nance Elementary. Your prayers were of such great support to him! Thank you! It is not official yet, but I think he starts Monday. They did not offer a "Contract" as in Full Time Teacher because we are passed the half way mark in the school year. This way the district does not have to pay benefits. Will keep you posted on progress. This is a quick entry this early early morning. I could not sleep due to shoulder pain and am up in my jamas to paint awhile. Terry is sound asleep where I should be, but my rolling around was keeping him awake. I have been unpacking his stuff now. Probably why my shoulder and neck hurt. I shake my head in disbelief at the accumulation of plastic model kits that are in this house. Remembe
SISTERS IN THE SAND - Commissioned painting of children by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 40 Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission work, Email: Laurie FLASH ADDITION I FORGOT>>>WILL POST AGAIN TOMORROW FOR EARLY MORNING READERS MORGAN GOT THE JOB!!!! Thanks be to God and to all of you prayer warriors!! This was the original painting I did for Lynda in Connecticut. Her little girls were really little in this painting and are at least three or four years older now. Maybe even six years older. I believe when she sent me photos they were older even when I painted this. She also has three little boys. A well rounded crew to be sure. This painting took honors in an international art show when it was done. Well, yesterday was full of surprises. I want to share with you right now. YOUR LIFE IS NOT GOING TO GET BETTER. That is the bad news....here is the good news: YOUR LIFE IS NOT GOING TO GET WORSE. Things happen every single moment in our lives. We cannot live our lives waiti
Sisters Chasing Butterflies - Impressionistic Art by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 Oil on Canvas SOLD /Commissioned Painting Contact me for Commission Work: Email: Laurie WE HAVE HEAT! I even took a hot shower this morning and got to wash my hair. PRAISE the Lord for the plumber. This painting was a commissioned piece for a collector in New York. I painted these two little ones when they were VERY little. Sisters in the Sand. I will post that one tomorrow for you. This is for their room. I kept in mind pinks and purples and light greens! Today is full of packing paintings and trying to clean up the house a bit. It was neglected over the freeze period. Also am battling with Quicken on both the MAC and the PC. Any Quicken Coaches out there? No one speaks English with the Quicken HELP on the phones. Can't get anything from the forum either. So much for working on taxes. It is obvious the Lord wants my energy directed elsewhere. Make a plan and hear the chuckles from heaven.
HORSE IN DEPTH - Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for pricing: Email: Laurie The sound of the shovel at the side door tells me Terry is outside digging down the last inches for the plumber. We are in prayer he arrives sometime today to do this work. There is hope, there is a light...there will be heat. This painting I finished up yesterday. Very thick paint as you can tell from the ridges. He is a strong horse, but still young. Hoping he finds a good home! I did get a wonderfully warm shower at Mom's yesterday. She picked me up. I think I drained the back waterheater as I stood in the shower and allowed the hot water to seep into my bones. Washing my hair was a treat and I even put on make up! WOW...almost human. But Morgan arrived just minutes later and we were back in the cold house. Spent the afternoon painting and watching Morgan paint. Here is his from Yesterday: If you are interested in this one, let me know too. I
Brilliance in Red ~ Silky Red Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing at Email: Laurie This is a familiar composition to others I have painted. It is a relaxing composition of assertiveness. I hope you caught that one! They are gorgeous in person and make you feel like you are in a garden. A warm garden would be nice right now. The house is at 45, my studio is at 62. There is no hope for heat until probably Wednesday or Thursday. The men got the hole about done. It has to be 24 inches deep for city inspection. We have to do the plumbing part and then get a plumber to OK the work ...of course that is after the permit procedure from the city. WHY did I move to the city? Someone remind me again. I just pray at this point to have heat before next Saturday when I am hosting an open house for perspective students and their parents. Meanwhile I went to bed dirty, cold and hungry. I felt homeless, but knew there was a structur
