ROLL OVER RED Horse 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Yesterday our oldest grandson Grant took his last earthly breath and journeyed on to the brighter side accompanied by a host of angels to be embraced in the arms of our Father. I had written yesterday about rising early due to a vision of Grant and that is when I began painting. The result was ROLL OVER RED. Grant was always playful and full of joy. Just as this horse, carefree and rolling over in pleasure to scratch his back. If Grant had to be given a descriptive word, it would by JOY. His delightful innocence to the world from his autistic mind was amazing. To stop and see the world as he did, gave a new perspective to what life should be. The simple innocence that surrounded him gave pleasure to all who knew him, and they knew how easily he gave his love to them...unconditionally...wanting love and acceptance back...that is all he ever ask of any of us. I reflect back to so many moments of his little fac
Distant Colors Wild Horse 24 x 24 inches A Painting a Day SOLD It is early here and normally I am not up this early on a Tuesday. My grandson is on life support at a children's hospital in Ft Worth. Unless there is any brain activity this morning through another round of testing, he will be pulled from life support. We spent the majority of yesterday and last night at the hospital with family, and the healing power of love for all the pain was astonishing. I decided sleep was not happening despite not going to bed till almost midnight, and I know my daughter and son are already back at the ICU right now....so I will put on my IPOD as to not wake my loving husband, and take out my emotions on my canvas. My dying grandson came to me in a dream this morning around three fifteen, I think that is what startled me awake. He said, "Mum, here I am" and had this huge silly grin on his face. He was surrounded by a rich golden light. Many of you do not know what blessings he brou

HEATED PONY Wild Horse 30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Why the heated pony? Well, my hubby came in and gesso the canvas for me...FIRST TIME, I might add. He was so cute and so capable. I will have to enlist his help again. As I approached the dried gesso and realized the talent with in as he had added impasto to it as well, the surface carried a thick sculpted look to it. The energy vibrating off was magnificent. (I had asked his help because of my pulled neck.) He stood there with my largest palette knife in his hand and had gesso and impasto from his finger tips to his elbows. I was working on another piece, but turned to see what I envisioned on the canvas. I began to attack it thinking of just large ponies but that was not to be...the ponies emerged and I shot some pictures, just to go back and add about two more layers of paint. Then I took more pictures. Still unsatisfied, I went back and began to scrap parts of the canvas ...geez there was a lot of paint there

After the Rain on the Dock Village Seascape 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting A Day Egads it is not even three a.m. here...but I woke with a pretty nasty sinus headache and decided it better to allow Terry to get some sleep before he has to get up at four. I am going to putter around here in the studio and work on some smaller paintings for my NY show. Last night was the opening of the FOUR BRANCH RANCH in Colleyville. Kathryn, the owner, was surrounded by friends, customers, and the entire city council! It was a marvelous evening and I visited with several other artists that have chosen to put their work in her hands. Lyndon Gaither and Ann Hardy were there. Lyndon does fabulous Acrylics and Ann is well known here in Texas for her oils. It was an honor and a treat for me to meet fellow artists. I am suppose to be in Dallas today but know at this rate I will not be...my head will probably clear up enough for me to sleep in a few hours and I will be back asleep I assure you, bu
THE MISSION Texas Landscape 3 ft by 5 ft Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day ... NOT...this one was four days. Almost finished this baby. It will live in a new office/home in Highland Park in Dallas. It was a challenge to do my style and insert it into a Texas Landscape including bluebonnets...our state flower, but NO horses or cows etc....so the Spanish Missions that dot the landscape through out our great state became the object of the commission piece. I have been overly busy with a down drive on the computer, trying to prepare for a big show tonight in Colleyville, Texas with the Four Branch Ranch....and I am behind in painting as well as regular work. Today I must prepare lessons for one of my moms that will teach the kids while I am gone...or I may just cancel class...I am debating on this one. Wish my co teacher was here...she is in Guam. Para-sailing and snorkling. ... the life! Gotta run, I am BEHIND on life and have to try and catch up slightly today. Grace to you all, I have
THE PACK Another Original Horse Horizon Painting 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Today is packing and shipping day and I have a list of 15 paintings to ship...so I will only get a few hours of painting in this morning. I am currently working full time on a 3 ft by 5 ft commission piece of a Spanish Mission with Texas Oak trees. Geez it took a LONG time to cover even 2/3rds of the canvas....I think I worked 12 hours yesterday on it and have several hours in from Saturday. Today's piece is another pull painting and I think definitely on of the best. The colors radiate out from this composition. Painted with impasto mixed in with the Holbein Duo Oils and two different palette knives, some of the paint is 1/3 inch thick in ridges. Have a great Monday...I am to work ...slept in a bit this morning....it is five thirty a.m.! Grace, Laurie "According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building on it.
IF ONLY Young Cowboy 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Have you ever been in competition of sorts and not won? Then you rerun the whole thing over and over in your head thinking WHAT IF?? IF ONLY???? Well that is the mainstay of this composition. We have all been there...and it is captured in this young cowboy and his faithful dog! Painted with brush and oils, it is a reflective painting. Stacey's birthday party was great yesterday...saw many of her friends I have known most of their lives and that was neat. My parents and my youngest brother and his wife, drove out to visit us first and then we went on to Stacey's for her party. Her Husband had most of the food catered in...and the cake specially made from a fabulous bakery in Dallas. She is thirty on Monday. She was my early morning child, arriving at 5 a.m.... after a night of dancing and a big steak and shrimp dinner. Off to work on a 3 by5 ft commission piece.... I started it yesterday and have it sketch
Double Orchids 16 X 20 Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day A fresh good morning at four a.m. central time! I have been up about an hour puttering around but am ready to paint, but though I would get this listed for my painting today. I finished this on Thursday this past week...it is a reflection back to the many florals I did in 2005 on eBay and was well known for my floral paintings to the point of eBay artists nominating me in the top five for florals that year. I can't help but feel a bit closer to the great creator when I paint flowers. SUCH beauty and such joy! Today is daughter's blow out birthday bash. YEAH.....the paintings from Sharman have arrived safe and sound and I finished the painting yesterday for their den...they have been in their new home almost a year and this is the first major entertaining they have taken on...she is a bit on edge preparing, but all will be fine. I even think, ( if you remember I bought her a sewing machine early birthday two weeks ago) she
