You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.” ― Haruki Murakami This is the horse still moving through the storm. He is represented by the dark blues reflecting the darkness of the sky, wind and rain surrounding him. His white mane whips in the wind but the strength of his body and legs propels him forward after the other horses

It's actually the quiet ones who often draw the most attention. There's this constant whirlwind of motion and sound all around, and then there's the quiet one, the eye of the storm.” ― Amy Efaw, After Painting for a show at Mirada.  I am all over the studio and sketchbooks with ideas. I told him maybe one horse,... but you never know.  So this one is three horses.  The Calm after the Storm is in reference to the turmoil of last year and I am assuming the Presidential election.  I am

When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist So I finished up this painting and hoping it dries for shipping in the next three weeks.  Our weather is so unpredictable.   We have actually had a bit of winter this past week. We had seventies on Tuesday and then a front came through bringing us back in the fifties during the day. Something special about having seasons. My body really likes them! I love fall, winter and spring. I am not

Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” ― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches I was asked recently about the Women's March that went on across the country. I believe totally in our right to a civil protest, but my first belief is in God our Father.  He teaches us in his word to Love our enemies.  Jesus never protested and he stopped the disciples from being active in responding in protest. Montgomery I jumped right in with color and working my way through the composition. I wanted this painting to have stronger browns and golds in it, so we will have to see how it works out from here. This will be at the Fringe Gallery in Salt Lake City.  Taking this painting day by day and allow it to take part in the process of unfolding for its own energy.  Some nights I am eager to go to bed... the day could have been draining or just filled with business.  Be it stressfu

Rest assured, one of my own older paintings from about five years ago.  It always call back to me to revisit the composition, but the original was very organic from left over paints on my palette.  Here I will be using the space but filling it purposefully with the patterns I seek as I work. I am excited about the gallery and hoping to g

"Each Scene in my Life ended in a Cliffhanger"* . . . Laurie Pace Texas Horse Painter

I finished this painting and it will either be in the new gallery opening in Salt Lake City in February OR it will be on my website.   Have you had many of those cliffhanging moments in life? What happened?  Most of mine use to show up in dreams. Lately those moments have faded into the past. It is best to let things go and let God take care of them.   In my readings over the past five years, the most important thi

Believing in Ourselves . . . Progress Painting Contemporary Horse Paintings, Laurie Pace

Cummings Excitement is growing. You can now see all those blues and mauves and grays filled into the background. I chose to go with golden yellow and a tiny bit of orange in contrast to those gorgeous shade of blue, spacing this brighter color to go from the top right of the canvas and take the eye all the way through diagonally to the bottom left of the canvas.  I am beginning this first part of the painting using several wide
