This week one day is national Bosses Day... October 16th. My son Morgan works at TD Ameritrade and while he would normally do this himself, he came to Mom to help. (yes he paints too)  He wanted to surprise his boss with a Bull.  I do longhorns all the time but never a 'bull' so I am not doing my signature Longhorn pull but am using the wild knife with lots of color.   I just shot images of it and brought it into photoshop and flipped it horizontally and

I cannot even add the color until this dries...so it may be even longer than that! I did a painting in 2011 or 2012 for a collector in Dubai .  I had a sketch from his painting that I used for this painting of four horses advancing forward. I always paint in odd numbers, but on this canvas size, four was the balance and that is what evolved. This was more like the original 'etching' but I could not ge

This was my first thought... but after eating lunch and coming back to it... it changes by tomorrow.  The first problem was solved and that was getting the values of grey onto the canvas with the black and white into a composition of movement that I like.  The next problem is to figure out the composition of the horses.  There is a ride ahead with the journey so stay abreast with my blog. Inspiration is a necessity for an artist to work. An uninspired artist is basically still in the water... or still in t

If you noticed on my front page the image is black and white with color pulled through compliments of photoshop .  Also this way on this blog and my professional facebook page.  It was time to climb out of the box and see if I could even do this. I had several emails about it.  Challenge yourself today to smile at everyone.  Share a gusty 'hello' with that smile. You never know when you can make a difference to just on

Three fillies make a trio! Signature Painted Ponies ready for a new home! Tuesday is always a challenge being the second day in the work week.  I have changed my painting schedule and teaching schedule to accommodate Lady L.  We have a new phonics book this week and she is flying through it.  She loves it when she gets to draw and create stories. That is what makes art so very special.  Art has been around since time began and man drew in the earth, then on walls...

Yesterday I wrote about staying the course with this painting because I knew in my heart it was not complete.  Right now I feel it is finished. Usually I would be peppering the painting with Violets, oranges, turquoise, gre

It is still a bit on the 'undone' side, the flavors have not blended entirely.  The painting will remain on the easel over the weekend and I will be in and out looking at it and studying it to see what is not quite right yet... Even as I type this blog I see things that need to be finished, but this is a process and I cannot hurry it along
