So do Paddy and Annie.  We stopped at Whole Foods on Friday to shop for Mom who is on a 10 fibers a day diet.  Of course we picked up the things WE are not suppose to eat.... and we came across TOMMY... really Tommy in person.  I had seen this man standing behind one of those food things they have set up giving out samples.  Made me wonder because he did not have on the typical apron the servers usually have on.  When we made our third pass by him Terry stopped to try out the food he had there... Wolf Wildlife Oil Painting WISE ONE by Texas Contemporary Wildlife Artist Laurie Pace

WISE ONE Beautiful Wolf Painting with expressive wide brush and thick paint. This will go with my collection of wolf pieces I have been working on this summer.  Each of them in a different style. Available.   Email Me. 3 ft by 3 ft  Oil on Canvas        © Laurie Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011 LOVE When I was a teen I consulted my Grandmother on happiness.  It was not that I was an unhappy teen, but somehow I felt something missing in my life.  She would hug me and say happiness is like a butterfly. You can go chasing it but you will never catch it.  Happiness lands on you when you least expect it. For Lady L that was falling asleep while reading her book, "I LOVE YOU THROUGH AND THROUGH". So then I think of life in general and what most of us want is acceptance. Acceptance for who we are right now in life. We all want love; we all go searching for love with that acceptance.  My grandmother would tell me it was like a butterfly as well, elusive to my s

Abstract Horse Painting ESCAPE by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

The Escape 18 x 27 inches of thick Holbein Duo Oils. The gorgeous chunky contemporary horse painting brings together all  the elements in nature blurred about the horses as they run. I finished this painting too late to make the trip to Santa Fe so it is available from me right now.  Email me if you are interested.       © Laurie Justus Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011 ESCAPE Do you ever think about 'escaping' from a situation when you begin to feel uncomfortable or you are ready to NOT be there?  That could include relationships as well as situations.  Have you ever tried to escape yourself? We all have our inadequacies.  We feel we are not good enough, or pretty or handsome enough, or our feet are too big or we are not good enough to snag that better job with more pay.  We limit ourselves all the time.   We measure social success and financial success and when we fall in the bottom it just reaffirms what we have felt.. that we are simply not good enough.

Contact Steve.     © Laurie Justus Pace   Graphics One Design 1998-2011   FAST TRIP We left early yesterday to drive into Dallas to pick up large sheets of cardboard and the framed paintings from The Dutch Art Gallery. Pam is by far the best framer in the US... really truly true. Levi grumbled when Terry put a hole in the back brown paper on one piece but he redid it for us and we actually made it back home by 1:30 in the afternoon.  Good thing we did as both dogs decided the extra veggies Terry fed them last night did not agree with their constitution and they both had the runs.  We were airing the house out for hours...but all is good now. Fast Trip... hurry hurry hurry . Isn't that the way our lives seem today?  I was so relaxed going in yesterday that the trip in flew by us both.  We were at Uline at the appointed time.. and stopped at Whole Foods for a yummie breakfast burrito,

Epsilon Abstract Horse Painting in Progress by Texas Contemporary Equine Artist Laurie Pace

"Epsilon" Abstract Horse Painting in Progress 30 x 40 inches Mixed Media Painting Still watching direction on this one...stay tuned for final shots in the next few days.   © Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011      Waiting As I work on a painting in my studio I am always waiting and watching the direction of growth as the painting develops under my brush and/or palette knife.  I wrote yesterday about "in the mind's eye".  Today I spent another three or four hours on this piece and it is evolving with the layering of all the paints and the changing of contrasting colors building on each other. There are quite a few hours yet to be to travel with this one and I will wait patiently as I paint. I am in waiting for that inner feeling that my job is complete and the painting has reached the point of 'finish'. We all seem to do a lot of 'waiting' in life. Often we are waiting on others instead of concentrating on waiting on God. Wai

Abstract Wolf Painting Wildlife Art by Texas Contemporary Artist Laurie Pace

Progression on Big Wolf 20 x 30 x 2 inches  Oil on Canvas   I was working late again last night on Big Wolf. This wolf painting definitely has a strong sense of wild and with the palette knife work it becomes dimensionally coming off the canvas.   As I finish it up, it will ship to The Rare Gallery in Jackson Hole for their summer season. ©Laurie Pace    Graphics One Design 1998-2011 Contact me for Commission Work. Laurie       Breath of God I am just in from sitting outside on the deck. I was up at six am awakened by the dogs stirring. Terry is still asleep. Ever since he cleaned up my studio on Sunday he has been hit hard with allergies from the dust and whatever else was out there. Sneezing and coughing.  I loaded him up with Benedryl last night as well as natural cough syrups, the same he used with his pneumonia last year.  Larry is down with bronchitis bordering pneumonia as well. His was from Lady L who had the croup. I sat outside on the swing this morning wrapped

We were instantly talking about the workshop and about Jane, the wonderful artist from New Zealand.  Jane is an artist that is so respectful of mother-earth and all God has created.  The land is apart of Jane.  Her work celebrates the beauty and bounty of the Earth. When a friend smiles they share the bounty of life and love. Life is fuller with our friends. God give us boundless moments to enjoy our lives and everything surrounding us.  We are often too busy to even realize what is there for us and who is there for us. The next time

'Blue Baby' Horse Equine Art Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Blue Baby' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me with an offer to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Playing off complimentary colors of blue and orange, the strength of this painting is remarkable in person. With my traditionally heavy oils without Impasto, the texture feel of the horse makes him come alive. The Thought :  Coming alive seems to blend right in with a good thought to build on for the day.     A few months ago I never struggled in the early hours at 4:30 am when we crawled out of bed. I have always been an early riser.  Lately after our last three week vacation I became accustomed to sleeping in until eight or  nine in the morning.  When I work up then I was so refreshed and alive.  At 4:30 am there is a struggle to come alive from the depths of sleep.     There are many folks that go through life living each day and not being ALIVE.  Some zombie movies call them the walking dead.   While we

'Hill Toppers' Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'No. 312 Hill Toppers' 30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas Contact The Rare Gallery in Jackson Hole to Purchase. Hollee Armstrong © Laurie Justus Pace    Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting :  I am currently painting new pieces for the Jackson Hole Gallery.  Hollee Armstrong, the owner, wanted another large pull of horses so I did this striking piece that is busy curing and waiting to be shipped.   I have a music piece I am working on as well and one other composition of my new water pulls.     The Thought :  Well yesterday I spoke of spiritual freedom.  I began my day with great expectations of nothing but tuned to staying tuned with Him.  I actually made it until late morning when of course things begin to overwhelm and I was sucked right back into the vat of mess between scheduling appts and securing addresses and counting out postcards.     Even last night with ALL good intentions of heading to the shower by nine didn't occur.  I returned a phone call to a fellow artis

Contact me to purchase or commission one in your colors. Laurie This one sold today from the blog! Thank you!! I should not even be up right now. This is even thirty minutes earlier than I normally arrive at the computer. (Kathy, you get to read my blog on time this morning!) Terry was sleeping sound and I woke to his snoring. Then I kept thinking about the last 8 x 10 painting I need to finish and the bookwork I did not do yesterday. I worked yesterday from 5:30 am until 9:15 last night NON STOP. Normally I would NOT work on Sunday, but we had 18 paintings to get out for Christmas and we had to get them to FEDEX today. I have three of those still hanging on the wall drying until the last second before Terry tucks the into their boxes for their trips "home". It was a choice I made to give up my Sunday to
NOVEMBER SKIES Contemporary Art Abstract Palette Knife Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 15 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase... this is one of my highly collected painted pony pulls. Laurie This painting pulls in every fall color you can imagine in the landscape right now. That is why I entitled it November Skies. Seems like the fall season magnifies the Lord's glory in living color that shouts to his glory, just to be quieted for the winter season of quiet cool colors. If you have time today, sit outside and soak in the beauty of fall. Even if it is cold, pull on a jacket and meditate while observing the changes the earth is taking on right now. The Lord put the seasons into rotation for a reason. Change is needed to provide new growth in the spring and the old must fall away, things must be dormant (or at least they appear this way) and in truth they are in the process of what lies ahead for new birth in the spring. Our lives are the same with the seaso
Explosive Fury Contemporary Art Palette Knife Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas This painting was featured in my September Ad in Western Art Collector. contact me to purchase: Laurie This is the Sept Issue This is the ad in the Sept Issue Tomorrow is a day Daily Painters honors one of our collectors, Barbara Haukenberry. She passed away about six weeks ago. She was a supporter of the self representing artist and a unique collector. I choose this painting as it was one of her favorites and it is available for purchase. It was featured in an ad in the Sept 08 issue of Western Art Collector from my show up at the Rare Gallery in Jackson Wyoming. This piece never made the actual show, but I have it here in the studio now and am revarnishing it. We never know in life who will meet along the way, or the purpose that God has for those we meet in our lives. Are we to serve them or they to serve us? God's purpose is never fully understood at the time
DREAMY EYES Contemporary Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches on Wrapped Canvas Contact me for pricing: Laurie I am still recovering from the trip to see my father. It was a beautiful drive in the country as we took a back route around the lakes, and we made it in record time despite my NOT driving fast. He was ready when we arrived and begin lecturing us about "presence", and kept saying he didn't mean presents, but presence. For a man "with out" cognitive behavior I found this quite advanced. There are areas of his brain still firing out with reasoning. He was upset because he wanted my mother's presence in his life. He explained he was saying the word PRESENCE not presents. He never mentioned HOME, he only said, "I love you and we need to be together. I need your presence in my life." Needless to say Terry and I were still up at midnight last night (seven hours ago) discussing this. We took Dad out for lunch and he at
NIGHT WIND 2008 Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 24 x 2 inches Hangs without a Frame Inquiries: Laurie Well, I had an email about my Sovn bed. I still have to stand by my testimony that I have not slept this well EVER that I can remember. The bed puts us both in a very deep sleep and we both wake up refreshed, rested and no aches or pains. I have to adjust that this morning as I grabbed the wrong pillow last night and my neck is not the best it could be this morning. But No More BackAches... no more snoring from Terry...yeah... and he has no more pain in his shoulders and back at all. As far as the look of the flat tire bed in our huge four poster bed, the Sovn representative came out and is getting us a deeper base for the bed to set inside our four poster bed. This will not affect anything but the look. The cost of these beds is a bit heavy on the pocket book but when we weigh the rest and better health and happier body and moods, you cannot place a price
True Grit Horse Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 18 x 2 inches Inquiries: Laurie Tuesday dawns with over 25 triple digit heat days in Dallas. Can I say HOT??? I am taking the day off today so no painting. I will turn energies toward grocery shopping, getting mom's passport updated and general wash etc. Sometimes sorrow creeps into our lives. Painful events, deaths, dark moments etc. Last night Morgan arrived home to find his apartment broken into. I am thankful he was not there. They didn't clean him out, and I am thankful for that. They took some key very expensive things and somethings that cannot be replaced. Not just physically things but the emotional security of feeling safe and not violated. His Mac Laptop is gone along with the book he was writing. I only have through page 26 so there are 50 pages missing. Often when we are so distressed we don't even know what we should pray for, or how we should pray. That is when I believe the Holy Spirit within
Crossing Over Horse Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Inquiries: Laurie My eyes do not want to be open, but tomorrow Terry starts back to work again after six days off. He is asleep, Mom is asleep and I woke and decided to jump in here to paint before everyone wakes up. Seems like once the household is awake and there is movement, my creativity seems to disappear. Hopefully they will both sleep until at least eight or nine and hopefully the phone will not ring too early! Terry spent yesterday cleaning or unpacking or repacking a room that was stacked with models. Now they are all in my loft in our master bedroom. Here in Texas Boxes plus Boxes equals Roaches. I do not mix well with roaches. I have delayed mentioning this to him but will need to. If he built a model every week, he could live to be 140 years old. I have yet to figure out what we will do with all those models once he builds them. I will have to sneak up next week and snap a shot... then you wi
Wyoming Paint 1 22 x 28 inches Horse Acrylic Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Symbolism abounds in this series with linking circles woven through out the composition. Hidden notations to me as I create reminding me from whence the spirit comes....From the Lord! This afternoon we will celebrate birthdays. My mother (who was in the hospital on her birthday); my hubby, Terry, who drove me to Wyoming over his birthday; Larry, my son in law; and Jan my eldest son's love of his life. Missing from our celebration I will be offering up birthday love and prayers for family friend Lanie, and for my dearest painting "sister" Conni Togel. If you have never seen her art, visit www.charisma-art.com . She is FABULOUS!!! Terry and I went to pick up brisket and chicken at Rick's barbecue www.rickssmokehousebbq.com in Garland. He has eaten there four times this week. He needs a frequent diner's card for sure. Add to the mixture, cole slaw, baked beans, Sister in law Leslie
WYOMING PAINT 2 Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Acrylic pulls on Canvas. Contact me for more information, mention title of painting. Laurie Saturday is here. I am suppose to be painting for my New York show in two weeks and I only have a few things ready. I will truly be working in studio all day today. Breakfast will be cold cereal. Mom and Terry are still in bed sleeping so I am trying to keep the house quiet. I have been experimenting with my dreaded acrylics trying to make friends with them. Both of the artists I showed with in Jackson use acrylic, so I decided to try it. I will have to go over to Asel Art today and get some more though. Morgan is coming, so I may have him stop for some supplies on his way. Saves gas and time that way. They move differently that the oils and are a bit more challenging. Renew today as you step out into the day. Know that you are alive and filled with the spirit. Treat yourself kindly, eat healthy and walk today. I will pra
