When the sun rises... the first light of day has not broken through the deep mist of night and the quiet tones across the landscape.  When it does make that push upward and light fills in between the leaves, grass, gardens etc... the earth is alive with color!  Same with these horses I entitled Color Rising. Layers of color and overlays create this entire painting, keeping part of the realism and losing to abstract shapes throughout the horses. The Painted Pony Pulls! Should I paint more of them? Triggered by color and thick buttery oils, they have been the life dream of painting since 2002. Picking up a palette knife and starting to lay color up is always exciting. Sometimes I will use a tube of paint and dot marks of paint all over the surface before I begin to pull them toge

By Dawn's Early Light... Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© Laurie Pace        Graphics One Design 2020 By Dawn's Early Light  by Laurie Pace - Sold.  Visit Ellepace.com to see available artwork.   This was back a few years... like 11 years maybe.  The colors are mesmerizing to me with the contrast of of night and day as the colors of cool are replaced with the warmth of light. There is something here to build on in this painting and it may trigger a new piece this next week.  “When she returned, he would take great delight in showing her how much he loved the morning, when the air held a tang of freshness and the early light dispelled all shadows.” Karen Hawkins Isn't that amazing... 'the air held a tang of freshness'.  I can imagine that in every season as the sun wakes the day and the night is pushed away.  This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! What is ahead on your day?  Find something joyful if you can. Stop worrying about what you cannot cha

I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” Frank Herbert . DUNE In nature and in life, there are startling moments where we turn our heads and look.  Not sure what this horse turned to take in, but I love the play of rich colors painted through that turn of his head.  Was it the braying of his mate, or the call of danger lurking nearby? What would be your story or thoughts? “ And so that you may be able to give to your son and to your son's son the story of my wonders in Egypt,

Ramblings of Sunrise and the New Day.

Ellepace.com    © +Laurie Pace         Graphics One Design 2019 “Not knowing when the dawn will come I  open every door.” Emily Dickinson Found this simple photo of a lake with an early sunrise in Finland.  It brought a quiet peace to my heart and soul. If I could wish that for each of you, I would.  Imagine the cold in these woods as the photographer came upon the lake early in the morning. The dark clouds breaking up as the sun breaks through with soft oranges and pinks. I know he paused before the shutter clicked, and he felt the magnificence of the arrival of day, just like a new baby being born... the tiny head rotating out first before the next push brings the full birth.  A new day offers new birth to opportunities, new horizons, new experiences, a chance to start again, to discover something new and live another day. It brings hope. It matters not if you are in Finland, the United States, Japan, Australia... Day will break and with it ends the

Acts 11:23 This is one of my favorite horses that lives in Illinois. The power of the sun rising and the power of the horse as it rises to great the sun. During the most trying times in our life, God rises before us. We may have our eyes shut, but He is there. Divine grace reveals itself unfailing as the Spirit that fills your life. The sunrise is a building of this divine inspiration as the strong colors ignite across the sky wakening the world with its vivid colors. Let the sunrise banish your anxiety. Allow the grace of God to move you beyond the self-doubt and fear that fills you today. The light will fill your darkness and give you hope even in the most desperate times. DAY BREAK EARTH DAY Contemporary Landscape Art Palette Knife Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 24 x 2 inches THICK palette knife oils! Contact me to purchase: Laurie "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 I can't help but wonder what the first sunrise was like. Did God stop in His tracks as He painted pinks, purples, and soft azure blues into that first sunrise? Or did He press on to creating and allowed nature as He set it up to take its course? Yesterday was Earth Day and I painted this painting in celebration of the wondrous earth. I watched the sunrise outside the studio windows overlooking the backyard and used those same colors in my sky. Look around you today... creation... the earth and everything we have...is from Him. Celebrate the earth this week and celebrate giving thanks to God. Laurie "The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed." MORNING LIGHT HAZE 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD It is early this morning, not quite Five a.m. We both woke up hot about an hour ago. He is snoring again...I am in the studio. Thought I would knock the blog out and then prepare his breakfast and lunch to get him out the door. This painting was finished yesterday. Inspired by a photo I saw years ago of a murky morning with haze and light intermixed, tones of yellow, caramel and white blend to create the background. The horses are done in bold browns, golds, turquoise and oranges. It is quite peaceful, but not my usual as far as palette goes. I may be experimenting again. Life is full! Fullness of Joy! Contemplation here. Remembering back to my teenage years and my grandmother and her wisdom when I would always ask about happiness. It always seemed so elusive then. Age has found a peace with contentment of what is in the moment. Each moment you breathe is JOY. Stop today and breathe slowly t
Early Morning Wyoming 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD There will be some small paintings from the trip here and there...I hope you enjoy them. Most are on panel board and all have thick paint. This one is in colors that are not normally in my palette. An old barn that was next to a small pond, the house was actually to the right further but out of my view. Reclaiming your worthiness is important to your heath and your family. The world we live in today beats us down on a daily basis. Time spent in prayer and reflection with God offers us the time to rejuvenate and find our centering. In this time we are healed...if we let go and let God. Shalom, Laurie “When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, ‘Woman, you are set free from your ailment.’” —Luke 13:12
DAYBREAK Seascape 18 x 24 inches Oil on Panel A Painting A Day Bid Here Starting bid $169.00 OUR TREES are coming! Our Trees are coming. I have been up early waiting for the tree man. He got lost. He was trying to come before morning traffic but was using a Ft Worth Mapsco and we are Denton County. Doesn't work! I really need to take pictures of the progress in the back, hummm, another blog? Eeek I don't think so, but maybe I will just to post pictures on of the changes in the house. My cousin Bruce arrived safely from Boise Idaho. He is visiting here and then on to Washington DC to stay with my friend Niki. He does absolutely wonderful things with antique toasters and appliances and loves to redo OLD homes, not the huge ones but the old ones that were sold in total from like Sears etc. Did you know in the old days you could purchase HOUSE kits like that??? Pretty darn cool. He also can do regular old homes and has a flair for things like this. I didn't know him
