I did work on it quite awhile and I think I even posted it.  It may or may not make it as it is... I am itching to work it over even more.  If for some reason you like it as it is, email me.    Tell me why you want it, and it is yours for $400.   It is a 36 x 36. Something just will not let me paint over it... so the $400 covers the canvas and paints and depending on where you live... shipping
SUN UP Contemporary Art Italian Seascape Palette Knife Art Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me for more information: Laurie When I paint something like this I am awed by God's creation in giving such depth in color and such peace in a moment. I am reminded that giving thanks and praise to God of my appreciation of his creation is vitally important. If God made us in his own image, tell me, do you like it when someone says, "Hey you did a great job." or " You are fabulous to do this. I cannot tell you how much this means to me that you took the time to do this for me." I don't know about you, but I puff up inside and have warm fuzzies every where. I try to be modest but it makes me feel good to have done something worthy of notice. It makes me work a little more on the next thing I take on, knowing what I do is appreciated. Why would God be any different? If you only go to him in times of need, you basically are a
SUNRISE MEDITERRANEAN Italian Seascape Sunrise Oil Palette Knife Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 48 inches COMMISSION PIECE... SOLD. ..still drying on the easel! Contact me for pieces you might want to give for gifts this holiday. Laurie This is a huge commission piece I am just finishing up for a collector that already has two of my paintings, a tiny one and a midsized one. This will go in a stairwell on a long open wall and I cannot wait to see a picture of it hanging! Last night when Terry and I went to bed we were both pretty worn out. He has been hanging new outside doors and of course yesterday we did shipping for about 8 paintings going to their new homes. The economy slow down is affecting everyone right now, us included as the request for new paintings has slowed quite a bit. We are in prayer on our path right now. We absolutely love our home and wanted to stay here until he retired, but it may be more than we can do with the updating it still requires and my income b
DOUBLE SAILS Sailboat Seascape Oil Painting By Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 20 Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase and mention title of painting: Laurie Peaceful easy feeling and giving THANKS our youngest is alive. As more details surface he began to realize he should not be here. Mention was made by him that he will not be riding his motorcycle for awhile. HE mentioned it. Even mentioned the I MIGHT SELL IT words. We go to the doctor at 8 this morning to get re bandaged. We picked up a post op surgery shoe for him yesterday and a cane. Gosh those canes are expensive. I told him not to lose it as it would be Terry's size for later in life and it is a nice cane. We will know more once we see how things are healing. He felt better yesterday afternoon, so he probably will return home today or tomorrow. My Neale Walsch email today talked about TRUTH. Truth spoken is a gift given. When truth is withheld a gift is denied. Part of an old adage says, "the truth hurts". I
BOATS Seascape Painting by Laurie Justus Pace SOLD Commission Painting. Contact me for Inquiries. Laurie Monday dawns and Terry and I are on the way to see Steve, our doctor/oldest friend. I know I told you before he gave me my first kiss in fifth grade. He is a musician, piano, guitar and bass. In our younger years even 10 years ago, we just to meet on Wednesday nights with Mike Thomas and jam on the guitars and sing. Both of them can really really sing. We made the tours of Terry's mother's nursing home and we sang at Steve's mother renewal wedding vows ceremony. I miss those days! I must carve out time to relax and laugh again. Mom did more unpacking of her bathroom yesterday and then slept all afternoon. She is very quiet these days. Please continue your prayers for her healing. Today I want you to dream. God gave us this ability to dream and plan and have hope. Denis Waitley said "...that you've got to have a dream if you want to have a dream com
MIDNIGHT PEACE ~ Contemporary Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace 16 x 20 inches Oil on Panel Contact me for commissions and pricing! Laurie Pace The studio almost echoes around me. I am preparing to paint a small longhorn for a commission that will go to Austin and work on a portrait of a young girl and her horse, also a commission. These will travel carefully to my mom's for drying as this is my last day to paint until we are in the new house. This is one of my favorite scenes to paint and they are all different but contain the same flavor of color and thick paint. Even prettier in person, these slip right into a frame and hang so nicely capturing light all around. Terry spent the day in the garage packing paintings and packing in general. We are both pretty worn out and just starting the process. In the midst of it all, my daughter sent out a dismal email saying they had closed her office and she was jobless. Merry Christmas Stacey Beth. This is a gift yet to open, a journey y
MEDITERRANEAN MORNING ~ Landscape by Laurie Justus Pace 6 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Contact me for commissions or pricing. Click here. SOLD ON DAILY PAINTERS! Thank you. This is a tall thin painting waiting for the perfect spot in your home! Thick ridge paint offers the touch of impressionism on steroids. We are hoping today to know what house will be ours. We are working two contracts with much prayer. One is a large five bedroom with a pretty nice painting area and lovely flowerbeds and gardens. The second came up late yesterday and we scrambled through traffic to cross Dallas to see it. It is a contemporary modern home of the late fifties, early sixties. Round rock walls and unique classic lines. Not much yard but enough for the dogs. It is in a sought after area and we knew if we didn't get over there and offer a contract there would be no chance of it. We left here and thirty minutes into our one hour journey the Realtor ph
NOON TIDE 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas No Frame Needed. A Painting A Day Wednesday. I woke this morning with a vision. I don't know that I can get it on canvas this morning but will try! I was not going to paint today, but it is urging me to pick up the brush. This painting was completed Monday, another crisp fun Tuscany look on the sea. Bright colors and very thick paint applied with my palette knife. No plans today, sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad! I need to call my moms to get chugging for fall teaching. I have my syllabus complete for the fall but I need to order my supplies. I am praying your day goes well. Sometimes when you plan ahead things never seem to fall in place and often this brings frustration. God seems to pop in those unexpected situations and that is when we need to sit back and let him work. Hugs special to Sue and Charlene today. I feel like a bad friend not touching base, but this past three weeks has been more than busy.
Midnight Seascape 18 X 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day It is Wednesday! All the paintings left for Wyoming...whew...one more thing behind me. I will be traveling some over the next week but will continue to post. I spent yesterday going over everything with the couple that will be staying at our home, house sitting and dog sitting. We have to make sure our animals are happy! Annie does not like the pet hotel. The pet Hotel does not like Paddy. So, we will let the dogs stay home! Now that summer has arrived we have to make sure all the trees and plants are watered too. Sometimes leaving home is a problem more than a joy. Maybe if we had a sprinkler system it might be easier. I will put that on my wish list. This painting is one of my favorite pull pieces with colors blending and merging into others. I use a thin palette knife to create this style and I am a lover of purples and blues... very restful to paint. Remember to rest in the Lord...trust Him to show you the w
Morning Reflections 18 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Well, we only saw sprinkles yesterday...but today expecting MORE rain! I am finally back in the studio, moving slow but hopefully back to full time work again, or at least trying it. I am waiting for the insurance man for the car to come back by and look at the repairs. This painting was completed this past weekend...I think on Sunday. It makes me hungry to look at it, thinking of summer and the blue skies and then all the colors you see in fresh fruits! I know I am artist and my brain functions at a different level! Yesterday I traveled with my daughter and her husband to my mothers to continue unpacking all the stuff she packed up for the floors to be installed. She is doing a good job weeding out the unnecessary in life. It seems we are all guilty of collecting physically as well as mentally. Just as we must relearn to let go and let GOD in our lives concerning worries and situations, we must also learn to LE
Summer Doors 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day SOLD Friday Friday...but I painted this one on Wednesday! This is one of my seascape cityscapes done with the colors of summer and bright doors on each of the buildings on the water. THICK deep paint mixed with impasto creates a rugged surface across the canvas. Today I will be attempting to work in the studio. Terry will be resting most of the day. Have a peace filled mind and a faith filled heart and simple trust in the Lord for divine order. Grace, Laurie “He has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure.”—2 Samuel 23:5
Bay Morning 18 X 36 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day. It is a glorious Sunday morning. Last night Terry and I drove into Dallas to attend an organ concert at St Paul United Church of Christ on Lover's Lane. It is an old German Congregation that has been in existence over 125 years I believe. The organ is a unique pipe organ. It is especially unique because it is in a small church, but it is unbelievable in sound. The guest artist was Bradley Welch . Born in Tennessee, he now lives in Dallas and is quite accomplished. Yes, we bought a CD and yes I will be painting by organ music this week. This is also the church Terry and I were married in many years ago. The posted painting was finished yesterday. It is heavily layered with paint and may take awhile to cure! But I had fun with the colors and the play of contrasts through out the painting. Today I am working on a commission piece...one is hydrangea for an upcoming anniversary gift. The hubby saw my last piece and graci
DAYBREAK Seascape 18 x 24 inches Oil on Panel A Painting A Day Bid Here Starting bid $169.00 OUR TREES are coming! Our Trees are coming. I have been up early waiting for the tree man. He got lost. He was trying to come before morning traffic but was using a Ft Worth Mapsco and we are Denton County. Doesn't work! I really need to take pictures of the progress in the back, hummm, another blog? Eeek I don't think so, but maybe I will just to post pictures on of the changes in the house. My cousin Bruce arrived safely from Boise Idaho. He is visiting here and then on to Washington DC to stay with my friend Niki. He does absolutely wonderful things with antique toasters and appliances and loves to redo OLD homes, not the huge ones but the old ones that were sold in total from like Sears etc. Did you know in the old days you could purchase HOUSE kits like that??? Pretty darn cool. He also can do regular old homes and has a flair for things like this. I didn't know him
The Fishing Village 30 X 40 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission Piece A Painting A Day Well, this was Sue's birthday present from her husband. She had asked me MONTHS ago to do this and I was so swamped I had no time...but about two months ago I finally started it and finished it in time to cure it enough to send. With her husband's help...it was a total surprise!!! She phoned last night in the midst of my art classes and we all wished her a happy birthday. I really enjoyed painting this one and will probably do another similar to explore it further! We are expecting MEGA storms today so I am going to finish up a painting and clean house. Makes sense doesn't it? If a mega storm is coming with tornadoes you clean house right? Wrong, you stay busy, altho I am debating unhooking my outside drives to put them ina safe place...will have to just watch the weather. I was suppose to go into Dallas today, but I did not because of the races at the NASCAR track down the road. I
Cottages at the Beach Oil on Canvas 22 x 28 inches A Painting A day GOOD MORNING!!! The house is quiet...Terry is still sleeping. We will be heading up to Oklahoma later today and of course working on packing and shipping! We spent Easter Sunday on the Road early for Church 65 miles east of us. The Service opened with my favorite Easter Song CHRIST THE LORD HAS RISEN TODAY....and my day was made! From that service we visited our old Sunday school Class where they are studying and debating Timothy and the role of women in the church. That was heated discussion to say the least. We jumped in the car then and hustled over to St Paul United Church of Christ to enjoy services with my parents. The sermon was on Mary finding the empty tomb and how she was frantic to fix everything (like most women are) but being still she found the risen Lord, he was there the whole time, but she was so busy trying to do to do to do, she didn't see him or recognize him. I reached over and grabbed my
QUIET OF SUNRISE 22 X 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Click here to bid Starting bid $199.00 Good morning! Today is gorgeous, sixty degrees and sunny. I could not have ordered a better day! I give thanks and praise to the LORD for His beauty and the weather! Meanwhile this morning I finished this Venice Sunrise and have it listed on Artbyus.com. THICK paint in my tradition but with a paint brush and brilliant colors. I am working on a second large commission piece of roosters today, so maybe tomorrow I can post that one...it is a long paint with it with at least seven layers of paint and impasto! Yesterday at the grocery store we were checking out. Krogers always hires mentally challenged individuals and we have always appreciated this. I think more so after losing Grant. As the man was trying to figure out how to use our cloth grocery bags (I take my own) Terry gently helped him and was so tender with this man, who was at least 35 years old. I sucked it up but by the tim
