Sisters Children Oil Painting Picking Flowers by Laurie Justus Pace 36 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase and mention the title: Laurie I want to hurry through my blog this morning so I can go walk. The temperatures are in the sixties and I want to be out there! We still have a strong wind but it feels good. Terry has one more week of vacation. He has several projects he has attacked and I am hoping they get finished. Today we are helping move my dad to a new facility and praying every step of the way that the care will be good here. I will write more tomorrow... the day is escaping and The sun is up and I want to walk before we have to go pack Dad up. Yesterday we ate a late lunch wtih Justin at Abocca's in Richardson. I had to get art supplies at Asel Art. Catcing up we covered every subject of our loved ones. When Terry and I left I started humming my latest song by the Beatles "there are places I remember.... all my life..." and my brain sings the s
PEARING UP by Laurie Justus Pace 20 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commissioned Contact me for other work: Laurie It is early Sunday. Mom is sleeping gently in the other room and I will tiptoe to paint this morning, no music, no news, just me and the colors pushing on canvas. Sometimes I enjoy quiet paints! I worry about the phones though. Brothers all started calling at seven thirty yesterday and my phones going off in succession is enough to wake anyone. I am reloading my book cover for the new book for hopefully the last time. I used EXACTLY the same cover we used for printing last time and it rejected it...go figure. Well, the words rejected it but I think they used it anyway. I have redone it again for the 8th time and am reloading it. Do you think God gets tired of reloading us? We all seem to have trouble seeing the real world we live in. Last night we watched "THE BUCKET LIST". Mom chuckled as we did through several scenes, but the ones that pulled your heart
Inspired One Time by Laurie Justus Pace 8 x 10 inches Oil on Linen Panel Contact me for pricing. Laurie HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SISTER IN LAW LESLIE AND TO MY NEIGHBOR JO! They shared the same birthday last week... a special day to celebrate life and the gifts they bring into our lives. Henri Lebasque painted this first in the 1800's. I repositioned my woman in the chair a bit and pulled her one leg up and placed the chair on the surface a bit differently. I fell totally in love with the colors and had to paint it. I think I am going to frame it for my own because of the colors. Yesterday was a maddening day as Julie from Guidry Designs came by to pick up the first of the work completed this week. It went to the framers at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for framing. Julie will be placing the work into homes in the Highland Park area that she stages for Realtors. Today I will finish up two matching 5 x 6 ft pieces...HORSES! Then I will take a break for our anniversary....and next

NOT OF THIS PLACE ~ Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 X 27 inches, Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contact me for pricing or to purchase. Laurie It has been a whirl wind of a week and I have not painted very much! This is one I finished while Billie has been here visiting. It is rather spiritual in person, the deep purples have faded out on the upper left edge. Christmas has been full of family and love and so much easier living close to my parents. My mother is mending from a pulled back and we see our family doc this morning. Billie is only here one more full day and we woke up to rain this morning. Hopefully it will just be morning rain. Still chilly at 42 outside though, but thankful no ice! Here is the tree set up in the Music room. Terry was able to get the sliding door open to the garden room from the living room just before family arrived Christmas Eve. This is looking from the living room into the now open garden room door. Billie did a fabulous job transforming the
TEXTURE ONE ~ Abstract Horse By Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD on Daily Painters Laurie No pictures today. We fell behind a day and the boys took Sunday off. I went and picked up my dad and took him grocery shopping with me. He drives that cart pretty darn good. He wheels it around like a NASCAR racers in fact. He would be potentially scary driving a car! I have family that flew to St Louis yesterday arriving to snow. Billie Bauman, Owner of Earth Works Art Gallery flies into Texas tomorrow morning. She has to fly out of Rochester and that is pretty snowed in right now. She will bask in the 66 degree temps we have daily now. At night it is in the low forties. At least we got a break from all the rain. It is a joy to think of friends in for Christmas. She will have the task of helping me pick out a tree for the house and decorating a bit. I hope we get that far in preparation today. The men are preparing to cut off my computer off and I must
WOLF PACK 2007 ~ Abstract Wildlife by Laurie Justus Pace This painting is available at THE RARE GALLERY in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Contact them for exact pricing. They can ship it for Christmas! 24 x 36 inches, Gallery Wrap Canvas, Oil Good morning from the construction site. I cannot believe I am doing this at Christmas. Billie Bauman, The owner of the NY Gallery, Earth Works Art Gallery, is coming to visit over the Christmas break. I will have the potty in the guest bathroom the day before she arrives. I only hope I have the guest room ready. Here is where I am painting right now. The lighting is not the best, but we will get to it. This is the round wall in the living room that on the outdoors is beautiful stone and inside we scraped off layers of latex paint. The surface was not primed correctly or sanded, so Morgan is putting his skills to work on this one. Kyle, the contractor that was sent to us by God and Pam and Jud Kendall, is wonderful. He does landscaping and water feat
FALL CACTUS ~ Flower Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Gallery Wrap Canvas SOLD Commission Painting Contemporary Art for the Home Well, as I sit here the house is 49 degrees. I asked Terry to make sure the heat was on as I climbed into bed exhausted last night about eight. I fell asleep but it was already cold. When I woke to Dogs making noise at five thirty it was REALLY cold. Nudging him in bed did not produce any results, so I hurried the dogs outside and found the flashlight. (Why the flashlight? The light switches in the house are like none I have ever seen and you need a road map to find which one lights up an area.) I checked the heater first and I could see the gas flame very cheerfully flickering. I made my way thru the box maze to the thermostat and found indeed the heat was on but the fan was on auto. Nothing was running. Either the thermostat is not functioning or the auto fan was not. SO I switched the Fan to ON to make it run full time and presto I hear

Wednesday finds a turkey in the oven. We are eating at Stacey Beth's tomorrow but she has a crowd coming and we would have ZERO leftovers, so I normally fix on Wednesday for Terry and I to have left overs for the next few days! He is coming home and making CHILI too! It is going to be cold shortly . Seventy degrees right now and hopefully falling soon! Tom are you ready to eat tomorrow? Can't wait to hug your neck. Charlene I wish you were here. We would share a glass of wine and many laughs and hugs. Niki I hope you have arrived in NY safely. Give my best to Helen and Joe. Jan, I know you will be neck deep in family, enjoy them all. Kathy, I share my deepest prayers with you today. I know not what your group is doing, but I know you will be serving those around you. Passion RED ~ Flower Art by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 27 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home CONTACT ME FOR PRICING AND COMMISSION WORK. It is already light this morning. I almost slept through and am still struggling to keep my eyes open. I actually did a commission piece like this one this week and painted one to sell I liked the first one so much. Smooth buttery oils in brilliant red. Very stimulating. Spent the day yesterday house hunting. Found only one but it is in a Neighborhood of the Cookie Cutters...but it does have a huge area to paint in and a four car garage. It is also new, but not in the area we would have chosen first. We received back the house inspection on the house we really like in the Dallas area and it has some pretty complicated issues which makes it truly hard to decide whether to take it on or not. I am praying Lord, I can't read these Detour signs, I need them in English. When we got in last night it was late. Probably cl
High Stepper ~ Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 18 x 24 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home Saturday dawns with my studio only have one dog underfoot. Morgan kidnapped Annie yesterday and took her home to help social my granddog, Jena. She is a toy poodle. Paddy would eat her thinking she was a rabbit, but Annie is a grandmother dog, she is much better with friends. So the house feels strange with out her energy here. Volunteering is an interesting subject. Do you volunteer to do things often? Some of us do and end up giving so much of ourselves and time we lose ourselves and what is truly important. Others of us shy away from volunteering and often are not using our gifts to help out others. I am not sure how you weigh the situation to find a happy medium. I believe in giving what comes naturally. At the same time, we must remember to take care of ourselves because we truly cannot give to others if we are EMPTY! A friend wrote me th
JACKSON ONE Abstract Horse Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 22 x 28 inches Acrylic on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art for the Home SOLD SOLD SOLD This is what happened as I branched off to try and new technique....TAR GEL! It certainly gave new definition to three dimensional. I entitled it Jackson after Jackson Pollock and his abstract work on canvas. Using the tar gel, I was provided with a creative freedom of actual play as I discovered it's versatility. It is Friday. I will be finishing up my Wolf commission painting for Jeff and getting back in the saddle working up the pieces for Hong Kong. Florence wrote this morning that the new website for the gallery should be complete soon and they will (IF I CAN GET MY WORK THERE BY NOV 10) feature my work in their winter publications. SOOO, I am going to be painting the next three days pretty intensely. To do this I will have to draw upon the depth of the spirit with in to allow it to be the primary source of energy. Center
CALL OF THE NIGHT ~ Wolves, Wildlife Art by Laurie Justus Pace 30 x 30 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Fine Art for your Home Saturday early morning finds me blogging before the household wakes up. Terry is still asleep for the next hour and then he will be up and heading to work. Today I will be preparing food for Tom's birthday celebration where we will gather and eat later. I made a pasta salad last night and probably today will make a brown rice and sausage dish. This painting is the third in my WOLVES of the NIGHT Series. Reminds me of my two dogs, Annie and Paddy. I used a wide paint brush on this one with the same colors I used in the first two pieces. Harrison bought the first painting and I had to wait to ship it to him until he made it to their second home in California. He should have received it yesterday. I am anxious to know his thoughts. Niki bought the second one and she saw it Tuesday before she headed to NY to the Dog Shows with her little Ti
TEXAS MISSION TWO Texas Landscape, Spanish Mission, by Laurie Justus Pace Oil on Canvas 22 x 28 inches Contemporary Art for your home. SOLD I am ready ready READY to go and start painting this morning! I have much to accomplish over the next few days preparing for artscape and commission pieces, one including a 48 x 72 inch Longhorn! It takes up the whole studio. The top painting I did earlier this year and it will be traveling to the arboretum for the show along with part of my NY show. Several paintings I had shipped back for this. Mom doesn't know yet, I forgot to tell her, they are arriving at her office next week. It was reduced in cost to arrive at a business, and her office is close to where they need to end up. I guess I should phone her today. I will arrange for Morgan to go there and move them to her house and they will only be there maybe 24 -48hours before they will go to the show. The mission painting is available, so email me if you are interested. Mr Longho
WATCHING TWO, Wolves, Wolf - Wild Life Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 36 inches Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas SOLD Sunday morning and SOOO much energy swimming in my tired body.... oops that is an oxymoron. Did I even spell that correctly this morning? This is a second painting in my wolf series. The first one is sold so I moved to another canvas and kept the same contrast of a black background. It's funny how each of them have their own personality as I paint them...guess that is normal. Phil and I went into Dallas yesterday to the Arboretum. I took some decent pics, the blooms were rare with the heat we have had...so I will stay up with it as the cooler days arrive. I took some people pictures that will serve for some pieces in the next few weeks. After we drug our depleted bodies back to the car (It was 97 degrees with 80 percent humidity) we ate dried fruit and drank tons of water. Stopped by my fav Italian restaurant and got take out. He leaves today for Ville
THE PATH 8 x 16 inches Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Art Oil Paintings Daily Wednesday with rain east of us. We are dry so we will be watering later. I need and want to paint this morning. Too much time spent away from my studio! This painting is a colorful one full of life... I will be doing more of these collage of colors! Reminds me of the quilt we unearthed at Terry's dad's home...made by his grandmother probably in the sixties from the fabrics on the quilt. BRIGHT blues, yellows, oranges, reds etc. The quilt makes you smile when you look at it. So does this painting. No room for the blues or depression. Terry and I were reading in the Bible this morning out of Acts and then we read Jonah. Such an interesting story and conflict going on in Jonah for those sailors on the boat...what to do with the troublemaker Jonah who brought the anger of the Lord on them. Do you ever feel that way in life? I do. There are some folks that really rile me to the point th
RUNNING WILD 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas Contemporary Modern Art Good Wednesday. Terry returned to work today so I am back working full time. We worked here at home yesterday finishing up boxing for shipping and me buried still in paperwork from the wreck. Everyone continues to ask for the same thing five times at least! We made Fedex by two yesterday and headed into the Big D to use the truck to pick up my father in law's new bed. When we were at Macy's, I realized the woman helping him has sold furniture to every member of our family from my mom to all my kids, to us and now to Ben. She knows her stuff. It has been about two years since I saw her and we caught up quickly. Her hubby is a photographer that does the art show circuit. I hope we meet in the future, sounds like we have much in common. We truly never know what somethings happen in life and who God brings into our lives. We ended the evening with a YUM dinner at ST Cafe again and a trek through Whole Foods f
IDIOT's DELIGHT 16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Well, this was done quite a while back...like 1991. I painted for my husband. Idiot's Delight is the name of the B17. My technique and approach has changed, so I decided sometime in the next month to take another old bird on...you will have to watch to keep up. I have a new WIDGET on my blog...but for the life of me I cannot figure out how you could get it to your desktop...I don't speak computerese, but I will consult my younger brother the computer guru. He may have answers. Yesterday was the party of our 10 year old grandson...I am sugared out. I think he had fun! Twister was a giggle and a half and No I only watched. We compiled a scrapbook for him with all his friends and family building it. Something he can reflect on always as he hits the two digit age...turning away from the single digits forever! Surrender to the grace of God today. Give grace to those around you. The gifts of grace and forgivene
Pot of Orange Poppies 24 x 24 Inches Oil with Acrylic Undercoats on Gallery Wrapped Canvas A Painting A Day Sunday dawns with thoughts of Jonathan's 10th birthday party today. I am gearing up. I NEED to be painting, But first things first...it will probably be tomorrow before I paint! This painting is NEW YORK at my show and is the cover of my summer book. This picture does not do it justice as it is layers of thick paint and dimensional overlays. Bottom layer is blue acrylic, everything else is oil. A tremendous painting with power. On this day I ask you to remember you too were created by the Father. You are filled with good and it is your challenge to pass this good on to all you pass today. Have reverence for His creation both in you and in all people. Grace, Laurie “For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I s
HEART TO HEART KOI 22 x 28 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Sunday morning and we have BOTH been up since four a.m. Terry got up and made coffee, grinding fresh beans, I had peppermint tea and mixed up a bowl of banana bread (homemade) and put it in loaf pan to bake and 45 minutes later we broke our fast with hot banana bread. YUMMM...we were watching the original Perry Mason movie in black and white. Actually pretty good. The koi were painted this past week and full of the lightness of the water. They are always a joy to paint! Had a request for odd sizes in koi...so watch for more! The name is because I see a heart forming in the water between these two koi. Terry is in the garage making boxes for shipping this week and I am sorting COA's and filling out fed ex forms. We have spent most of this week in Dallas with his Dad. I think he has found a retirement home. This is really good for him, it will be cleaner and healthier. There will be much work involved cleaning u
