Laurie  © Laurie Justus Pace     Graphics One Design 2009 PRE-NOTE:  I am in immediate search of a small white teddy bear with a pink tutu....please email me Laurie if you know of where I can find one.  THANKS! The Painting: This was started last week and finished this week .  Softness of white and tan countered with golds, Indian wheat, violet blues and periwinkle... all layered in this angelic composition. The Thought:   Well, Terry and I have continued with the puzzle .  He made the comment that he felt stupid at times sitting there twenty minutes with a puzzle piece in hand and it slips simply into a spot where he has been staring at.  The answer was there all the time... he was just looking to hard.   I have decided it has be done in the next two weeks so I can put it up for us to have Christmas eve

'Arabian in Winter' Horse Equine Painting by Laurie Pace

'Arabian in Winter' 30 x 30 inches Acrylic Varnish Overlays Contact me to purchase, make an offer: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : This is another in the Wash Arabian Series. Darker foreboding colors of cold winter...almost icy in a sense. I am not sure this one is done...still debating. The Thought: Purpose and Priorities..... those are the words gelling in my brain this morning. Maybe add a third work, Purpose, Priorities and Prosperity. The Triple P's. As we are individuals; we are made with a uniqueness true to just ourselves. There is no one else like us. We are YOU-nique as I always tell my art students. When God created us, He had a purpose for us to be here. He also has a priority list of what we are here to do in our lifetime. Some of us take longer than others to get to where we are suppose to be accomplishing His list. Many times we miss the entire picture and miss our mission in life, or our purpose. If prosper

'White Mare' Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'White Mare' 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Strength in color and in body. This mare was filled with curiosity as I painted. Can you tell that? Oil on Canvas and thick paint without impasto. The Thought: We welcomed a new daughter to our family. It has been a journey of two years. Today I will go through the doors of the high school Terry and I graduated from, and enroll her in classes. We spent the day yesterday, moving her things to Dallas and gathering up things from Target like alarm clocks, hangers, etc. Rejoice with us... God is good. We are here to give of ourselves to each other in this earthly journey. No man is an island. Give when you can give and share a smile as it will lighten the day for both of you. I know not what the morrow brings, but I know tonight Terry and I will pray for God's constant direction in our lives. Decisions and direction for each of us i

'Garden Tree' Landscape Tree Abstract Painting by Laurie Pace

'Garden Tree' 18 x 27 inches Acrylic on Canvas Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : There was a feeling of change as I worked on this composition. It rolled several directions before the image began to form on the canvas. This day I was not "horsing" around. The color patterns are mystical and both soft and strong at the same time. Change is that way in our lives...ever so subtle at moments and WHAM very obvious at other times. The Thought : Well, I almost had the thought above....it was a different day for painting as this emerged and I can't wait to see wait today will bring. Each new day should be like opening a present. Eagerly waiting for each moment as it comes with new opportunities. Note I didn't say new things waiting for you... nothing waits for you. You have to act in positive way to open yourself to new opportunities. If there is not room for change in your life, there will be no

'Kelly' Portrait Mixed Mediums Painting by Laurie Pace

'Kelly - New Beginnings' 30 x 30 inches Mixed Mediums Commission SOLD Contact me for a personalized fun painting! Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This was fun layers of watercolor, acrylic, stamps, varnish etc. It was a work that was commissioned by my son of his now NEW fiance, Kelly. He had words from a poem he had written her and wanted specific colors and items through out the painting, including the ring on her finger. We had fun....and she loves it and she said YES when he asked her to marry him. He was 12 and she was 8ish when they met at church many years back. The Thoughts: Mind Mumbling came into thought last night. Could not find much on the internet but it is definitely rolling around at the moment in my head. I link it up with grumbling... do you ever mutter to yourself? Mind mumbling has got to be a fumbling around of thoughts in your head. Bottom line it is mind clutter. Do you think we could make it som

'Sun Dance' Equine Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Sun Dance' Oil on Canvas 24 x 30 inches Contact me for purchase, or contact Earthworks Art Gallery. Laurie Earthworks Art Gallery © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: I truly could not get a good picture of this painting. It is one of my palette knife pieces with laid in chunks of thick oil paints...dragged and pulled and gently blended on the touching layer areas. It is heading for NY early next week to one of the two shows in the Finger Lake Region. The Thought: Much is happening in our own family every day. I know it is in yours as well. Things change in split seconds and our entire lives change course. If you died tomorrow what would happen? If you work for a company... they would hire a replacement for you in two weeks. What about your family? Would they replace you in two weeks too? I doubt it. I have been writing much lately about ALL of our overworked schedules for both ourselves and our families. We have forgotten about living.

'Chocolate Horses' Abstract Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Chocolate Horses' 18 x 27 inches, Oil on Canvas SOLD FROM THE BLOG! Thank you. Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting : Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate....that is what you see and feel when you look at this painting. If there is one layer there are 14 or more layers of paint and pulls. This was done over a three day period. The first layer again was acrylic and then the next ones were pulls of thick buttery oils....colors overlaid and blending. The Thought : A common subject with most Americans would be the IRS and our nation. The IRS had its first root back during the Civil War. Did you know that? President Lincoln with the help of Congress in the year 1862, created a "position" for a commissioner of Internal Revenue. Then they enacted an income tax to pay for all the war expenses. Ten years later the bill was repealed and in 1894 Congress revived the income tax bill. In 1895, a year later, the Supre

'Heated Race' Horse Equine Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

'Heated Race' 20 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas Contact me to Purchase: Laurie Click the painting for details. Click a second time if necessary to enlarge. © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: Layers of lovely thick rich buttery oil paints! I love it when they move across the canvas like this. Holbein Duo Oils on gallery wrap canvas. The Thought: Not every day is a battle, but it seems there are things to be done and completed. The frustration is usually the uncompleted things at the end of the day. This "battle" to get it all done is not just your battle. When you arm yourself with God, you will find great success. It will never be the success you envision, but from it will come great things as they are of Him. Reminds me of David when he battled Goliath. Such a small shepherd boy with his slingshot and rocks against a power warrior. David was armed with the Lord. He could not fail. Every move and thought had a purpose to bring succ

'Jewel' Horse Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Jewel' 24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Contact me for Commission Work: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2005 The Painting: This is an older piece from 2005. This usually means I am behind in the studio. Western Art Collector contacted me for participation in the wildlife issue coming up in September and my life went upside down. Diane Whitehead and I are doing an ad together in this upcoming edition as well as contributing to the editorial on wildlife art. The Thought: Do you ever feel unappreciated? I know I do. I was talking to another mom yesterday who was having difficulties getting a teenage son to mow the yard. Of course it is his contribution to the family but for some reason he felt she should do it herself. We have all been there at one time or the other. It seems no matter how hard we work it never gets done. Each day we all face unique pressures in our life. No one can truly appreciate what burdens we carry with our expectations we place

'Summer Sunrise Sail' Sunrise Landscape Large Oil Painting by Laurie Pace

'Summer Sunrise Sail' 24 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas Commission Painting... SOLD Contact me for Commission Paintings: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 The Painting: This is a commission painting... a large one. Layers of color slowly over three days and I am almost done. I have to layer in some of the lighter blues this morning and then it will be done. There is no impasto in this painting, it is pure oil and will take years to cure out. The Thought : Powerful people are truly not very powerful, are they? There are those folks in your lives that play board games with a life or death attitude. They give new definition to "Playing to win." Often if they lose, the other players secretly smile and sigh in relief. You can even watch the others begin to band together as they are playing the game, trying to trip up the powerful person. Do people like this in your life cause a negative pull on your emotions? It often makes us want to throw
