" This is love: That we walk according to his commands. This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: that you walk in love ." 2 John 6 The Violin The year was 2008 and I believe in the summer or early fall that I completed this painting. The love of music in my life made it like a craving to take this commission of a young girl and her violin.  This painting is in my "Do it with Heart Book" and a break in life showing you more of my roots in the tech age.  I do not have much from before 1998 in photos on the computer.  My style was always more impressionism than it was realism and back then I had tasted the freedom of a palette knife and thick oil paints which in itself was an addiction.  No

"Mums" Flower Oil Painting by Laurie Justus Pace

"Mums" 18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD! THank you! Contact me to purchase: Laurie © Laurie Justus Pace Graphics One Design 2009 " You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. " 2 Timothy 2:1 The Painting: This is a second painting I was working on when Barbie was visiting. I finished it up yesterday. It began with a bottom layout in acrylic for value placement. From this point there are layers of oils piled on top using a wide brush. The Thought: Not sure of what it is, but I have been "down" for two days straight. Hopefully today will be better. Anytime I ate or drank water it felt like a tightening in my stomach, like an old fashioned tummy ache. Did not get to go visit our best friends in Mt Vernon yesterday...so I am a bit sad. Hopefully today I can eat again. Terry continues to rip out the bathroom in our bedroom. The shower is completely torn out and tonight I think he intends to pull out the toilet and the
CHILD IN GARDEN ~ Impressionism by Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 18 inches Oil on Canvas Well I struggled this morning to post this to a second blog I am apart of and somehow my sweet painting of this child kept attaching and blending with a pop art pair of breasts with red hair. After five attempts I gave up. Sort of like sleeping last night. Terry and I worked late and had a late dinner in Ponder. We came home and watched a movie and then turned off the TV to sleep. I was praying and meditating just falling off to sleep and the trains began piling through the city. For almost two straight hours there was no going to sleep. The whistles were none stop. I feel asleep about two and slept till six this morning, so I will drag all day. This painting was a joy to paint and explore the face of the child and the light on the dress. I hope you enjoy it! Today I will have to really concentrate on finding joy in the day to stay awake. I wish you the joy and light of the Lord in your day too! Sh
IN HER GARDEN By Laurie Justus Pace 24 x 30 unframed, with the frame it is 30 x 36 inches. Clearing out from NY Show, Custom Framed from The Dutch Art Gallery This painting is looking for it's home...gorgeous impressionism with layers of paint, all applied with a palette knife. SOLD Saturday Morning has found me up early and really ready to paint. Habits are habits though and blogging my paintings comes first. The piece above was at the NY show this summer. I had it sent home to sell from the blog or from eBay, which ever happens first. If you need a really large piece, NICE large piece and you like this, email me as it is looking for its home. The brown paper on the back of the painting has a slight tear in it, but the painting and the frame are in perfect condition. I do not normally post prices on the blog but will assure you it is affordable, so if you like it email me. The frame alone was $250 and I have it priced just a bit higher than this. Old habits....as I read Dai
ONLY GOLD 18 x 27 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Contemporary Art SOLD It is Saturday and I am up. I may try and squeeze in an acrylic painting this morning before heading into Dallas to Ben's house. I am driving our truck over to pick my daughter Stacey up and then we are heading over to move some of our things into storage until we can figure out what to do with it all. Morgan will be there too. He is my artist son, the other painter in the family. The heat will be strong today so we won't work too long today. I hope to be home and back painting by this afternoon. Have you noticed in yourself, or well for sure in others, negativity ? Some folks do not own a pair of rose colored glasses and the world is always against them or things are always going wrong. You love and value some friends and family but it often feels draining that they are always down and so negative. Just by thinking that, I know I am being negative because it is with in my power to have a positi
RIVER WALK San Antonio 11 x 14 inches Oil on Panel A Painting a Day SOLD SUNDAY...the day of light...SUN DAY...the day of the Lord. This is a small piece I had to get out of my system. I don't know, maybe a detailed large one will follow. I have found myself doing trial paintings that are smaller before taking on the large scale ones....sometimes I think we try and do that in life. Be it through small steps forward to something to test the safety of the situation or just using our thoughts to think over scenarios. The truth is we must allow the Holy Spirit to work from with in us and TRUST it will work as God plans....not as we think it should. This applies all through our lives in everything. The thought today on dailyword.com is about forgiveness. I do have a comment on that. So often in my life I feel like I am the person that has been hurt and I have to Forgive the person that hurt me. You know that pity party feeling. That is WAY too easy! In many cases the truth is, I
SINGLE ROSE 4 x 6 inches Oil on Canvas A Painting a Day Good morning! Sunshine and heat creeping in here...but understand it is miserable across the nation. This is a small rose that was fun and relaxing to paint to loosen up before doing a large painting. Rich colors and contrast playing the red against the green. Contact me if you are interested! Thought wise, much is bouncing in my head. As we were sitting at the eye doc yesterday I picked up a magazine and was browsing the pages. There was an article about a writer that had interviewed many older adults about special times they could remember in life. The adults that told of a wonderful happening but then interjected something horrible attached to it that disrupted the joy of the event and then left the story at a low point were most likely to be adults with depression and mood issues. The other group that stood out were the adults that told of a joyous occasion that might have emerged OUT of a negative thing...so their stories
WITH THE WIND 22 x 28 Oil on Canvas $749 SOLD A Painting a Day Well this one made my eBay store, not auction, and went pretty fast. I had not even blogged it, so I decided to put this pretty baby up. It is a smoother approach to canvas than my palette knife attack...I have been selling more out of my store on eBay and may build that trade up over the auctions. Sunday was grand! I started my morning with Conni's fabulous soft boiled eggs (yes, she taught me a short cut and the eggs are awesome!) and a chunk of pumpernickel bread and hot earl grey tea. I spent about an hour reading a book Charlene sent entitled "How to Pray" from Unity and then read in the bible for a bit before picking up my harp and playing it. I then took the dogs for a long walk. This new routine left me peaceful as I came in to the studio to work on some commission pieces, which is what I will be doing today as well. I will be at the Post office at 8 to pick up two packages...my mail person appeare
The Fishing Village 30 X 40 inches Oil on Canvas SOLD Commission Piece A Painting A Day Well, this was Sue's birthday present from her husband. She had asked me MONTHS ago to do this and I was so swamped I had no time...but about two months ago I finally started it and finished it in time to cure it enough to send. With her husband's help...it was a total surprise!!! She phoned last night in the midst of my art classes and we all wished her a happy birthday. I really enjoyed painting this one and will probably do another similar to explore it further! We are expecting MEGA storms today so I am going to finish up a painting and clean house. Makes sense doesn't it? If a mega storm is coming with tornadoes you clean house right? Wrong, you stay busy, altho I am debating unhooking my outside drives to put them ina safe place...will have to just watch the weather. I was suppose to go into Dallas today, but I did not because of the races at the NASCAR track down the road. I
Chickadee 6 x 6 inches Oil on Board SOLD A Painting A Day Good morning from COLD COLD Texas. It is our Easter Freeze right on time. I worked on three birds yesterday and this one is already sold and has a home to fly to in about a week when it is dry. It was a very soul searching time as I worked on these little guys, I did a robin and a bluebird, both are in my ebay store listed at $89. I have been challenged to do an owl....we will see. The Good Friday Service we went to yesterday was a moving trail of love from the Lord. From the calling of the disciples, through the entire store of Jesus's moments, candles extinguishing with the story ... we ended at the kneeling alter, each having pulled nails out of the offering plate and holding them in our hands, meditating and praying. Tears were rolling down my cheeks. The service ended with deep thoughts of where we all were in our lives and our walk with the Lord. I know for my self there is so much work to be done. They have put
POPPY RED 16 x 20 inches Oil On Canvas A Painting A Day $169.00 A quick note before I go take my two miles walk with Talana. We are TRYING to get some exercise. Today is also teaching day. I will be preparing watercolor paper for the children and finishing up another painting. Terry and I worked in the yard yesterday watering in the fertilizer they put on a few days ago. So life is busy! Hope all is well with you! This painting is a simple wide brush stroke piece of a brilliant red poppy. Sometimes I just paint for fun and this was one of those pieces...bright happy and joyful! Grace, Laurie "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment." Philippians 1:9
The Red Door, Garden Painting 8 x 10 inches Oil on Board A Painting a Day Good morning to all! I am up early to hit the easel running. TOO cold out side, but it keeps me shivering and dancing around the easel that is for sure. Will paint about six hours and then need to make 160 Sugar cookies for the bake off tomorrow as all my art students gather to decorate Christmas Cookies, bake CHOC CHOC CHIP cookies with crushed candy canes on top and the dipping of two barrels of Christmas Pretzels in white and dark Chocolate! YUMMMMM ...so much for the diet. This painting is a small one that has VERY thick paint on it...simply put, the RED DOOR. Not sure what is behind it, that is up to your imagination. Charlene, make sure you click on the painting to see it close up...a tiny bit blurry but the paint is obvious! Best to all...I am off to paint now! check out my newest blog...link on the right but I will try and put one here...an occasional Song of the Season. I always pick up my guitar for
