DEAD or ALIVE? Terry brought me dead flowers this morning.... Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Terry brought me in cut flowers this morning!  I was thrilled....Dead flowers, are they really dead?   Absolutely NOT!  Through death they provide the seeds for new blooms in our lives.   ( By the way... these are Zinnias) There is always a gift or legacy that survives a person's death as well, and new things to grow. Memories always remain, some dimming with the years. The trust and love of someone dear that has left us through death journeying on to Heaven,  encourages us to live forward and carry on the the very things we have learned in life from them.  Only three out of our seven grandchildren knew my Dad.(His great grandchildren) He lived a life always serving others and I pray the seeds he planted served every family well. We lost one of these grandchildren when he w

For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. There were not many people there. Today if you go on Sunday afternoon,  you could not stir them with a stick.  I had my canon camera with me and got some delightful shots of people being people.    My favorite photo I took that day was of an older woman carrying a basket with flowers in it. Looked like she bought them somewhere on the grounds or brought them in for photos to be taken. She had a large straw hat.  The next group I

" This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners" - and I am the worst of them. " 1 Timothy 1:15 Poppies The year was 2006 My colors went opposites and bloomed into these poppies.  I went through a painting period of painting a frame around things in 2007. I painted two of these but this was the first one and my favorite! Nine blooms in the pot and one on the counter. Not really planned, but i know you see the canvas was BLUE and I did the white inset frame that shows up almost all the way around.  Notice how the white/with blue... triangles into the flowers on the left. That brings your eye straight into the painting. The white below also pulls you up and into the blue bowl. Cont

Beneath I began laying up a few canvas this morning in between running errands, cooking, moving china and cleaning out drawers. Things are always shifting when you least expect it. It is late tonight, already past six. I always used to blog at 6:30 am each morning. Not sure I could get here then, I am on the treadmill each morning by  6:30 doing my 3-4 miles. Usually walk at least 45 min and just trying to squeeze a faster walk in.  I have been in touch with another painter I have know for many years, Elizabeth Chapman.
