And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”  ― Louis Carroll - Alice In Wonderland  Nothing is more chilling that the rawness of winter.  Winter is here in full force.  We are almost to Feb and the memories of Feb last year are crashing in around us.  A close family member was hospitalized, an aunt died at 94 and Covid arrived... with a shut down March 2nd.   The rawness is still with us. The Covid is still with us. The "WINTER" is still here forcing us into isolation and madness.  Meanwhile I am painting forward all I can!  If you want to read more on my website bl

You can make it a party or a tragedy.” ― Nora Roberts, Vision in White Niki lived this in life and in death.  I met her in 2003 over the internet and she was contacting me about learning to paint.  We had a deep connection as we shared long two hour conversations daily. She was grieving the death of her partner and really reaching out trying to find something to take her mind off her pain and loss.  She did paint for about two years but fell into raising and showing Newfoundland Dogs. She had 6-8 of them running through her

WOW... summer has truly begun.  I almost used a different quotes this morning... “Imagining the future is a kind of nostalgia. (...) You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.” ― John Green, Looking for Alaska...  This painting thoug

All the animals in the forest became my friends, even dangerous and poisonous ones. Thanks to my goat-mother and my Indian nurse, I have always enjoyed the trust of animals--a precious gift. I still love animals infinitely more than human beings.” ― Diego Rivera I cannot ever say I have been up close and personal with a goat.  I have with dogs, cats, horses, cows, donkeys, etc... but not a goat. I did a series of girl and goat paintings years

Nothing stays the same. Spending time with God is the same way as time spent at the arboretum. Nothing has to stay the same. You are changing every moment and God is there with you.  There is no time or place you have to do it the same every day. There is not really a pr

SOLD  This is an older painting from about 2006.  I wanted to blog so I pulled an archive this morning. With thoughts of Valentine's Day on Friday, but the responsibility of chasing a four year old for the past three days... I would LOVE a quiet evening with my husband where I am not so tired that I fall asleep during the six o'clock news. #chasingchildren Having Lady L here has really changed the 'pace' of the household.  This morning I was up at 5:45 to be ready when Larry dropped Lady L off to us for the new day.  Normally we are not up and moving before seven thirty, so it was a struggle getting those contacts in before my eyes were open. What I Have Learned:  They stay energetic all day.... and till the late hours of the night and again in the early hours of the next day EXCEPT Except whe
